Stop: I advocate the genocide of all threads
At work with a pain in the ass phone so, in short?

Yes.

Or at least rack up a body pile big enough that they knock it the fuck off.
The idea's still correct (IMO), although these are the wrong metaphors; these Gordanians aren't mass-murdering dictators, they're murder-rapists-soldiers. They aren't Hitlers, or Stalins, but the SS, or the NKVD.
Killing them isn't so much about making sure the soldiers don't kill anymore, but about making sure their commanders/government can't use them to kill anymore. It's about asset denial. Them being terrible sentient beings just makes it easier and more ethical.

part of the problem, though, is that this sort of behaviour seems to be the Gordanian cultural norm. to stop them from bullying/enslaving other races basically boils down to wipe them out or just kill the adults and spend years raising the young and instilling a different set of beliefs in them.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that no Green Lantern has ever faced Larfleeze. And he's never 'held off the Green Lantern Corps'. The Guardians' deal with Larfleeze is why the GLs don't enter Vega.
i advocate the genocide of all threads Please don't advocate genocide or mass murder; this isn't as serious as some cases, but you will still receive a warning for marginal behaviour, each of you.

Please have a good day.

Warning: Bellum Iustum Moderatoris
bellum iustum moderatoris @Segev, @GardenerBriareus and everyone else part of this silly tangent, please relax, drop the off-topic tangent about warfare and the laws so related and focus on the storytelling instead, this is neither the time, nor the place to debate the nature and morality of the laws of war. @Segev's position lacks a lot of nuance and history that is relevant to such a complex topic as the laws of war and the conteporary morality associated with the conduct of warfare, but that is no reason to get hostile.

Especially posts like this are rather over the line, no warnings for marginal behaviour or infractions will be issued, but please keep it in mind, should this argument continue in another thread or should you delve into similar tangents in the future.
So the Allied Nations were depraved psychopaths for daring to ban chemical warfare and exploding ammunition, and soldiers should feel free to flay the children of enemy nations alive and mount their defiled corpses on stakes in order to demoralize their opponents and therefore bring the war's end closer. Nice to see a member of Seal Team Six among us - tell me, how's your latest snuff film going over in the barracks?

Sorry to be so nakedly hostile, but @Segev and his mealy-mouthed goalpost-shifting bullshit can fuck right off. You don't get to say that trying to reduce casualties is "morally debased" and that no effort should ever be made to exercise one's moral judgment in wartime, then dance around making vague "no, but what I MEANT was..." excuses when somebody calls you on it.

But for now, this is going back on track.

Warning: Keep This Thread On Topic and Off the Abortion Debate
this is not an abortion debate thread The Derail ends now. @Narutosramen, looking at you in particular. No specific warnings to hand out, but consider this a general line in the sand.

Talking about stem cell research and such within the context of With This Ring is fine. But if the thread turns into the Baby War to end all Baby Wars, then infractions will be handed out.

Stop: I will certainly slaughter your infraction history
Should point out that this is likely to lead to a number of issues. I imagine a lot of people would not be cool with the government forcing that down people throats.

While over simplified this is actually relevent to the genetic engineering issue. Mainly that it may lead to issues where the people who instead of getting GE to remove possible genetic issues get improved far beyond the norm. This issue is brought up in Gattaca where a major theme is how unmodifed people are looked down upon by those 'gifted' with GE or those looking for the best possible candidates for a job to the point that possible employers would strictly focus on applicants genetics. A doctor at the beginning of the film outright talks a couple out of any 'flaws' no matter how minor it would be reasoning that as parents they should want the best possible future for their child.

That then runs into the issue of where things should end or how much control officials should have over the genetic destiny of others people children. Someone could suggest doing something like giving everyone super human enhancements despite how the parents would feel. Problems start when people would likely be against something like that.

Remember hearing about OL mentioning that if he could he would give every mother the danner formula which was worrying even if he didn't mean for it to sound like it did. OL and the thread tend to talk about transhumanism from time to time while some readers complain about OL not going far enough and not accepting some solely because he wasn't comfortable with a lot of stuff yet strongly complain that he does this and practically calling him stupid for not getting them. Even if some people would be thrilled with having that many people would prefer 'vanilla' children. A lot of people would take offense to the idea that being 'vanilla' human is a bad thing.

So just making GE mandatory is likely to cause massive shit storms. So it might be best to stick to doing it to children that have a great chance of actually suffering from a disease or disability while having anything else optional and leave it at that.
As an atheist I will tell you, stem cell research is fine, as long as you stop slaughtering infants to get the research material. That is all.
i will certainly slaughter your infraction history You were both told to stop the genetic engineering discussion on the explicit warning of infractions, and I am here to deliver. Both of you, take 25 points and please don't do this again.

Stop: Stop
Actually, not to be rude, but I think it was probably a good idea. There's a history of arguments with Vaermina that tend to degenerate, so it has become something of a thread policy not to engage on matters of canon with them.

It wasn't a personal attack as far as I could tell, and more just a way to prevent it getting worse.
stop This is also not acceptable posting. @Silverias has been given a 25 point infraction for violation of rule five.

If you disagree with staff decisions, you should go through official channels such as the 'Ask a private question' forum, or the appeals system if you were infracted.

Stop: This is not appropriate
Zoat, here is a a ball, play with it instead of writing the next time you want to write something to prove how big of a nerd you are.
this is not appropriate This is a contentless post consisting solely of an insult. If you wish to express your disapproval of an update, do so without posting something solely consisting of an insult. Due to breaking rule three, @Pinklestia will be receiving a 25 point infraction.

Warning: And That Is Enough Of That
Not to mention the creepiness of a 25-30 year old in a relationship with a 15 year old is fairly recent thing in society. It is also still happens nowadays but is rather rare. People used to set up arranged marriages at those ages for a reason way back. Established husband with hopefully job/land/skill to support wife that is coming into child raising age and all that.
and that is enough of that Okay everyone, this is starting to venture off into no-go territory, I strongly suggest people drop this line of discussion.

Stop: Hello Again!
You do realize that this is a fictional universe in which people centuries if not millenia old often date people not even past their first lifetime right? Also that Zatanna is like full on in love with OL; she doesn't 'like' him, she isn't crushing on him, but actual pink-text in love with him. It's still in it's infancy, but her feelings towards him are strong, and he needs to deal with them one way or another. He owes her that much, I think.

Also, the word 'grooming,' would imply manipulation. What, if any part of their relationship seems manipulative to you?
hello again! Hello again, people! You may remember me from such warning posts as the one from just the page previous, warning that this line of discussion was to cease. Please do not ignore these warnings in future.

Stop: No - This Is Not Okay
I vote for 'feed her into a woodchipper feet first'.

no - this is not okay Hello there, everyone!

There are limits to the sort of advocacy of violence you can openly wish upon someone on this board, regardless of how downright unpleasant, awful, or otherwise deserving you may think they are. For the reference of everyone in this thread (and hello again, readers of WTR, fancy meeting you all here) the line is way before you start to advocate feeding someone through a woodchipper feet first in any given state of consciousness. @frustratedbuffa, @Godogma, please do not do this again in future. For everyone else, please be mindful of what you are posting, even when your temper is up.

With that said, carry on, posters!
