Oh, that's how I decided to work around that little facet, wanting to get Benson involved in the front-line action. If you decide to sacrifice 2 of his Personal Actions, you can use that to turn him into a Unit to use for a single National Action. Heck, you could potentially use him for 2 if you sacrificed all Personal Actions.

However, the downside that comes with sacrificing these Personal Actions is that it can boost Benson's rage meter, depending on how the dice gods decide to roll; if it's very low, expect his meter to go up significantly, but if it's high, it can potentially lower it.
Okay, I was incorrect, Happy to have that cleared up!

Okay, I was incorrect, Happy to have that cleared up!

No, it's fine! If you guys see anything that seems off, let me know and I'll try to answer it as much as I can. I know in DoofQuest, they assign Doof's stats to add onto their Hero Units to aim for higher maluses, so I decided to balance that with Benson's trait "YOU'RE FIRED", in which all Hero Units working under Benson will receive +10 points for doing a job (i.e. Action) under Benson's orders.

Ah-ah-ah, spoilers~

And I will say this... like in Prince Aladdin's Quest, when you guys score a Crit Success on your rolls, you'll gain another roll to see if the initial roll can be modified into something else. And lemme just say... someone uncovered something big before it can be turned against you all.
Nikolai, I'm sorry that I doubted you. you could go to cheeseers and get to do a guys night

The past two months have been hard, arduous work for you and your new crew. Some of it was good, others could've gone better... a lot better, you ruefully reflect upon remembering certain events that had popped up. But things around the City seems to be looking up for you; you even managed to find a potential recruit for your park crew.

EXTREME CRITICAL SUCCESS!!

When you approached Nicole with this task, you were a little apprehensive, to be honest. From what you've seen, you know that she's more than capable of breaking up a little street crime, but you were still nervous about something happening to her. After all, she was a mom with two kids, and the guilt of something happening to her while they were under your care troubled you.

But half-way through explaining the job's details to her, Nicole simply asked, "How far you want me to go?"

Confused, you replied with, "Well... the City would be nice, but if you go a little over, that wouldn't be too bad."

She left with a smirk, leaving you more than wary at what she had in mind.

A few weeks later, you gape in astonishment while reading the front-head article in the newspaper, displaying your employee standing over a pile of unconscious men with their limbs bent at a weird angle, a warehouse on fire behind them. As it turns out, she was more than effective in rooting out crime in the City. Not just the street-level stuff, no, no. She went all in.

Crime bosses and underworld syndicates that had been a part of the City's DNA for decades were dismantled and ran out of town overnight, thanks to one suburban mom with a fiery attitude. And strange supernatural creatures prowling the outskirts and shores of the City have been taken care of in grand, epic battles already uploaded to the Internet! Crime has been at the lowest in this part of California in a very long time, downright non-existent right now.

When Nicole came back, you were eagerly awaiting to hear the good news from her... only to be met with a grim warning from her. As it turns out, she wasn't just smashing up cartels and drug rings, but trying to figure out how it was all connected. While hunting down a gang of pixie gangbangers in San Diego, she managed to find a direct source to the mastermind behind the criminal element in the Kingdom.

That source being two chief commissioners of this crime boss, both of whom seemed to be aliens from another world.

"...you don't see all that shocked?"

"Lady, that's not even registering as a 2 on my scale of weirdness."

Brushing that aside, Nicole went on to reveal how she managed to get the drop on these aliens while they were dealing with the pixies, easily taking them all down without so much as breaking a sweat. They went on and on about how their boss would make them pay and that utter doom was upon her and her friends when He learned about this. She made sure to shut them up after getting the name with one good punch.

You raised an eyebrow at her. "I see... and just who is 'He'?"

"They call him... Don Kee."

You blink. That name... rings zero bells.

Nicole's chuckles break you out of your musings. "And it gets even better."

Her smile turns into that of the Cheshire, purring out, "I know where he airs out all his dirty laundry."

REWARD: All crime from the City has been expelled by Nicole! Expect no dangers near the Park for the time being.
+3 raise in Reputation for Benson, thanks to Nicole's efforts.

SPECTACULAR CRITICAL SUCCESS!!

Getting access to Maellard's private accounts was easy enough, given that he left everything to you in the will. Sitting down to discuss with the City's councilors what to focus on and how much it would cost was much tougher. Turns out that for all his status as King, Maellard didn't do much for the people, leaving them to fend for themselves while watching the chaos from his heavily-defended mansion. With the rise in supervillainy and meta-human attacks, it paved way for all the strange and unorthodox gangs to carve up parts of the City for themselves in an all-out gang war. From what you've heard from outside sources, entire neighborhoods have been destroyed and people are left to fend for themselves on the streets.

No more, you tell yourself. This crap ends now. It was with this mindset that you gave Charlie his first task to prove his worth as a worker for your crew; he would accept no kinds of failure here.

Charlie just shrugged and said, "Alright, I'll do what I can."

With your words ringing in his ears, Charlie strolled into city hall and sat down with those that run the day-to-day operations of the City, giving them your full permission and support to do whatever needs to be done in fixing up their homes. They were, of course, wary of the homunculus's words until her handed them the check to pay for whatever they needed; workers, infrastructure, insurance, etc. One of them fainted at the number of zeroes on the check.

Stunned by your generosity, they asked Charlie what to focus on first. His response was simple but brokered no argument: "Everything, dude."

Work began right away...

FAILURE

...you probably should have seen this coming.

You reflect on this bitterly, waking up in the middle of the park naked (as naked as you can get, anyways) surrounded by chicken bones and your face stained with greasy hot barbecue sauce. The sight of you was so revolting that Okuyasu had to spray you down with the hose to make you somewhat presentable. Once that was over with, you start reflecting on what went wrong.

You had spent the past two months working hard on setting up a business deal with the owner of Wing Kingdom, hoping that buying out the restaurant chain could earn you some extra money on the side while running the Kingdom. And things were going swimmingly at first... until that damned secretary brought in a new batch of chicken wings with special sauce from some place called the Heylin Empire. Apparently, the sauce was made with the souls of real spirits.

You called bull on it, before taking the first bite... then things got a little blurry after that. And then everything went dark.

Sighing, you rub your head while fighting off the migraine pulsating inside it. Well, this was just swell.

CONSEQUENCE: Malus to buy out Wing Kingdom has increased!

It seems that Ms. Blake's investigator background came in quite handily, after all. Accessing Maellard's private files on the other Kings that make up North America, along with her own personal experiences and interviews of those outside the Kingdom, she seems to have compiled a concise file and map on the Kingdoms that are dotted across the United States.

And thanks to Nicole's adventures in the criminal underworld, Daphne was able to get some info out of her roommate that aided her in digging deeper into this mysterious alien crime lord, along with his associates.

You looked into your family, hopeful and scared of what you'll find. Of what you won't.

You can't remember.

Your crew... has been busy these past two months. Some managing to keep up with their duties in keeping the Park clean and organized, while others haven't. Mainly Nikolai, who has become so focused on getting the scientists what they need for their research that he has slacked off entirely from his jobs, even worse than Mordecai and Rigby on their bad days. When you found out what he had done, you scream yourself red for the next two hours at the terrified Russian spy agent, who promised to fix things up.

Similarly, but not as terrible, Daphne spent most of her time learning about the power system of the United States and those calling themselves Kings that she hasn't been focused on the Park as some others. While she managed to keep the House tidy and neat, the rest of the areas under her jurisdiction in the Park (the Park fountains, the river, and the gardens) have gone to the dogs. You spent a hour or so laying out her mistakes, but also took the time to give praise in areas where she shined. She was despondent by the critiques but promised to try harder in the future.

You were most surprised to find Charlie had been keeping things from going to hell around here, in no small part to his actions in letting City Hall come in and help out. It turns out he managed to convince City Hall that the Park is the capital of their Kingdom and that if it looked like crap to tourists, then they'd be considered a laughingstock across the country. And politicians are more focused on public image than on the needs of their people, so they sent out workers after workers to plant new soil and help regrow the fields destroyed during the Kaiju's rampage.

You told him that for a guy who hated politics, he sure knew how to play the game. At that remark, Charlie made a face and asked you to never say that again.

And Nicole pulled her own weight around here too, despite most of her time taken up breaking up crime across the Kingdom. Though granted, her boys kept harassing her during work, annoying her to the point of smashing several boats along the docks to pieces.

REWARD: The City has taken an interest in repairing the Park, seeing it as the face of their Kingdom. Charlie the Miracle Worker strikes again.
Nikolai is on Benson's shitlist, causing the Boss's Rage meter to increase by another +5 points.
Daphne is doing her best, but her best can be better.

Well Nicole did what we expected. Honestly I'm not surprised benson failed to get wings, the dice won't give us all wins. And likes to make characters a certain way

Now as for our possible new magic hero. I wonder who it is

Holy moly those crits!!!

And we have a Dragon Ball villain screwing around in our turf......I'd say we wait a bit before doing that adventure, given the batshit powerlevels DB characters are on I could see us getting our shit slapped, those fuckers level planets with little to medium amounts of effort.

(If we want to fight any DB characters, we'll need Shaggy if we want any chance of equal ground for DB).

Next turn we need to start getting income as I think we spent like 5 - 7 income alone this turn, maybe put someone else on King of Wings and hope we roll good enough or we try for the Park action.

And Okuyasu.......it's literally only turn one, and already he's drawing shit to our doorstep.

Nah, Don Kee and his Bodyguards are super weak, so we don't gotta worry about them, they got their shit rocked by Nicole so we're fine for now man. Don Kee himself has literally never fought anyone he's just a rich tyrant.

Also Yeah in retrospect having Benson do the Wing Kingdom thing was not a smart idea at all given he has a -20 to Actions related to Wing Kingdom, so we definitely should have sent someone else.

Interlude: A Helping Hand
It was getting late in the day when Charlie came across the 'Good Samaritan' working alone in the suburbs.

The past few weeks had been hectic for the homunculus to keep up with, what with City Hall throwing everything that they had into restoring the City back to its former glory and Benson grilling him for details on how progress has been going with repairs. So far, things are going smoothly in the district areas, most of the buildings in decay and/or destroyed being close to finished at this point. He'd been surprised by the amount of people pitching in to help out; even in a world like this one, it was nice to see some decency remained.

Of course, having all crime in the City gone played a big factor into things. That Nicole lady was one scary-ass person; he personally watched her wrangle some kind of giant cannonball monster into knots like some sort of cattle. And that wasn't even mentioning how she managed to man-handle the Kaiju monster. If she kept it up at this rate, they'd probably have all crime in the Kingdom gone by the year's end.

Charlie snorts. Yeah, right. As if that was even possible.

Still, it is pretty cool that she was able to clean the streets up like this. She's practically a one-man army, wonder if she'd be able to beat an actual army with the way she's progressing. Makes me wonder what kind of people those kids of hers will grow up into.

Checking his phone, he still had some time to kill before it got too dark. Maybe going for a little stroll could work off some of the tension building up inside his shoulders, plus it could help with making up for leg day.

His walk took him from the City's limits to one of the local neighborhoods, where reports of strange creatures have been harassing the inhabitants before Nicole cleaned out shop. However, from what he had heard, Nicole focused on the monsters and promised to come back later to help out with fixing the damages the monsters had wrought onto the neighborhood. Charlie was a little curious to see what kind of damages had been done, so why not check it out?

It didn't take long for him to find the neighborhood, remembering the name he'd heard from Nicole. And yet, going down the street, he was surprised to find not the ruins of homes and sidewalks from an epic monster battle, but a regular little slice of suburbia. Hell, this looks like one of the places you'd see in those cheesy holiday movies and greeting cards around Christmas time.

Charlie's eyes narrowed. "Something ain't right here..."

He took his stroll a little slower, observing areas with a keener eye, finding no traces of any damage whatsoever. His suspicions kept mounting and mounting, his mind wondering what was going on here. Nobody in the City had come out this way and he doubt that any of the other Park crew knew about this place.

Eventually, he rounded around the corner and came to a stop when he saw someone outside a local home... mowing their lawn?

"What the hell?" Charlie muttered. "Who mows their lawn at 8 PM?"

He walked over to the figure, whose features were masked by the night, squinting hard to get a good look at them.

"Hey, man," Charlie said. "You, ah, you know what happened here? I heard there was some kind of big fight awhile back, but, uh, I-I don't see any damages around here."

The lawnmower stopped and the figure turned to look at Charlie before they stood up.

Tall. That was the first defining feature of this person that Charlie noted, gaping up at them. They had to be somewhere around 7-8 feet tall, with long gangly legs and arm... singular.

Noticing Charlie staring at their stump, the figure glances down at it before looking back at Charlie with a smile?

"Oh, I'm sorry. I hope I didn't scare you with this, I know that it might look a little freaky but I promise it doesn't hurt. Heh, haven't felt anything down there for a long time."

"Nah, man, don't worry about it," Charlie apologized. "I'm sorry for staring, kinda a dick thing to do."

The figure shifts in place, their sneakers squeaking slightly. "Uh, could you watch the language around here, please? Some of these houses have kids in 'em, and I don't want them picking up any nasty words like that."

"My bad," Charlie looked behind the figure, noting the lawnmower. "You doing some late-night garden work?"

"Huh? Oh yeah!" The figure points at the lawn. "These people have been busy lately, what with the monster attack and their regular jobs, so I figured I'd help them out and clean up the wreckage, you know?"

Charlie raised an eyebrow. "You... some sort of hired help?"

"Oh no, I just like helping others."

...

Charlie blinked slowly. "...do these guys even know that you're doing this?"

"Nope. No one's seemed to stop me yet either."

"Dude, I get where you're coming from with this, like trust me. I think it's really cool that you decide to help out these people and clean up this place, it's commendable even. But you can't just walk in here and do all this stuff without asking, man. It's kinda concerning, like is that even your lawnmower?"

"Well... no. It was given to me by a nice old man about two hundred miles that way."

The figure points north and Charlie realized the direction of where this guy must've came from.

"Alright, look, that's cool and all but... do you even get paid for this? Get any kind of recognition or something?"

"Oh, I'm not into that sorta stuff," The figure shrugged. "It's never been my top priority, ya dig? All that matters to me is making sure these guys are taken care of and keeping this place safe for the little ones. This City's been a breath of fresh air for me in a long time and the people here so nice! Even you seem like a nice fellow."

"Thanks?" Charlie raised an eyebrow. "You got a name at least?"

"Huh? Oh, sorry, I didn't give it to you, my bad."

The figure takes a few steps forward and their features are revealed to Charlie under the light of a street lamp. Red skin, stitched-up patches in areas like his cheeks and stump like some sorta plush doll, worn-out sneakers, and two beanstalk eyes, one of them broken and giving off a lazy look however. Despite this appearance, it didn't seem to affect the giga-watt smile on this guy's face.

"Name's Wilt. I'm an Imaginary Friend."

"Imaginary- wait, wait, wait," Charlie squinted his eyes at this Wilt. "Are you fucking with me right now?"

"Language."

"Nah, man, this isn't a joke," Charlie ignored Wilt's comment. "Imaginary Friend? What kinda crap are you saying right now, that's literal kid stuff. Everyone knows that those things aren't real, they're just made up. Fake. And you expect me to believe you're one of them?"

"I am," Wilt's voice remained calm. "I've been around for a long time and spent most of my life up at Madame Foster's home for guys like me before... the Incident."

"'Incident'?" Charlie repeated.

Wilt shuddered, wrapping one long arm around his thin frame. "It-it was a bad time. Happened long ago and lots of people got hurt because of it."

Charlie remembered the direction where Wilt had pointed to, and scowled. He'd heard stories about the guy that ran things up there... "Any friends of yours?"

"Yeah... they didn't make it out of there. I-I tried to save them but..."

His eye shut tight and Charlie could make out the outline of a tear. The homunculus suddenly felt awkward, scratching the back of his neck. The pain in Wilt's voice... you couldn't fake emotion like that, Charlie knew that tone of voice. It was one he had long ago after he lost everything.

Shit... I'm probably gonna get a lot of flak for this, but dammit, I can't leave this guy out here all alone. He just looks terrible.

Sighing, Charlie looked up at Wilt and asked, "Do you... have a place to stay at?"

"No," Wilt answered, sniffling.

"...follow me, man. And bring your lawnmower with you."

...

You stare incredulously at the tall red guy standing next to Charlie, who looked calm despite the perplexed look on the red guy's face.

"Uh, Charlie..." You slowly ask. "Who, uh, who is this?"

"This here is Wilt. He's an Imaginary Friend or something like that, I dunno."

"Sorry," Wilt apologized. "I hope I'm not causing any problems being here. I was just doing my thing one minute, and then the next, Charlie here is bringing me to his home to sleep in."

You look at Charlie, getting annoyed quickly, but the homunculus folds his arms at you.

"He's homeless, Benson. And he's been the one responsible for helping the neighborhoods outside the City's limits get cleaned up by himself. Hell, he was almost done with it when I found him last night."

"Okay, that's great and all," you say, fighting back the anger. "But why did you bring him here? He's not even a registered employee!"

"You said that this job takes six people to do, right?"

"...yeah. So?"

Charlie points at Wilt. "This is your fifth guy right here, man. And I'm gonna be honest, I ain't gonna be cool if you decide to pass up a job to this guy because he doesn't have a house or anything like that."

"Charlie," Wilt starts to say.

"Nah, Wilt, don't sell yourself short," Charlie turns back to you and you're taken aback by the heat in his voice. "I don't have an issue with you, Benson, you seem like a cool guy. And I normally don't like to put my foot down on things like this so I don't come across like an overbearing jackass or whatever, but this guy is legit worth it. If you hire him onto our crew, I guarantee you that he can pick up the slack we've been having lately with the others in groundskeeping."

Your face turns red but not from Charlie's words. Moreso the reminder of that fact.

Damn you, Nikolai.

Wilt coughs into his hand. "Uh, I'm sorry, but do I need a reference for this job?"

You sigh, rubbing your head tiredly. "Yes, you need at least two."

Wilt grins widely. "Oh, that's great. Hold on, I got a list around here somewhere."

You watch a little bemusedly as Wilt brings out a standard knit-sack and unwraps it, revealing the contents inside of it; an old basketball, a half-eaten box of candy, a small bottle of water, some band-aids and sewing kit materials, and a crumpled up ball of paper. He unwraps said paper and hands it to you...

Your eyes bulge out of your sockets when you see how many names are on this list.

Charlie, raising an eyebrow, comes over to take a peek and gapes at it too.

"Wilt," Charlie gulps. "This... this list has freakin' celebrities on here!"

"Soooooo," Wilt says. "Are any of them good?"

He began work the next day.
