Well. That happened.
Some thoughts on our options:
[ ] Earth: The power of soil, stone, and everything in between. Mastery of Earth has great benefits in terraforming and drawing forth natural resources, it also augments your Weaving by allowing you to concentrate sufficient nutrients in one place to produce megaflora scale creatures.
Should allows for living cities, fortresses, factories, fortifications, etc as well as terraforming and massive biomatter production. Which would be immensely useful as garden worlds are
valuable and those nearby probably already settled by the Imperium, and with our biotech we can't exactly live productively in sealed domes on frozen balls of methane or lava or something I think. Seems
very useful.
[ ] Weather: The power of sky, storm, and sleet. Mastery of the Weather domain allows the harnessing of atmospheric phenomena--even exotic ones. It also permits access to technologies that delve into similar phenomena
Weather control is nice, but, eh, does not seem all that valuable to me? Compared to the other options. Seems like it would have strategic scale combat use, maybe terraforming, and some boost to agriculture and stuff. Also does not seem very close to our core domain of Life.
[ ] Sun: The power of star, light, and purity. Mastery of the Sun Domain allows for manifestations of power tied to the stars. Provides excellent access to energy and plasma based phenomena.
Power generation, guns, engines. Definitely useful.
[ ] Elysium: The power of peace, sanctuary, and safety. Mastery of the Elysium Domain grant access to wards and bindings capable of enforcing peace upon limited areas While these cannot be used to protect combattants-such wards are proof even against indiscrimate attacks as long as the peaceful reside within them.
Very interesting but entirely combat specialized, and does not help win those encounters any either. I would very much like to take it in time, but we need growth right now.
Overall I am in favor of Earth right now, with Sun having the second place.
[ ] Elevation: Elevates an Associated Domain to a Core Domain. That Domain is invoked for free on every action that it applies to. On the other hand, actions that it does not apply to will have the Maiden crowbar it in somehow, which can have hilarious and sometimes tragic consequences.
Interesting! Adds a token to all actions, but sometimes even to those that would be better off without... Lets see how this would interact with our current domains:
-Death: ...interesting option. Having core domains of both life and death is sure to combine into something
very interesting. And powerful indeed. Cycle of life? Rebirth? Evolution? Probably wouldn't make us popular with humans though. I would probably want more info as to what this might result into before voting for it, but it
does warrant some serious thought I think. Remember what we paid for having the Death domain available at all, there is sure to be something
major here.
-Weaving: Solving
every problem with new biotech would probably creep people out. Consider all the actions that we did where Weaving was not applicable and what forcing it in anyway would do. Heavy synergy with our core domain of Life though.
-Connection: Now this is promising. If I remember correctly of all of our associated domains this one was in demand the most, with great many actions being eligible for it. Can't think of actions that were not eligible for Connection that would suffer much from forcing it in. Downside,
might turn our cult into something a bit hive mind-y. Which I have nothing against but would creep humans out I think. Or it could just result in telepathy/mental internet. Overall I think that it is well worth the risk and downsides I can think of, and Warhammer being Warhammer the galaxy could
really use people just
talking to and understanding each other. See how we have "won" against the Space Marines for example.
-Endurance: Forcing this into every action can't end well I really dont think. Would make us/our cult too stubborn, perhaps too Nurglish in reliance on enduring stuff it seems to me.
-Harvest: I have, concerns, as to how this would express itself in actions that involve, say, just talking to people or something. Not a fan.
Overall Elevation-Connection seems very nice indeed to me, and -Death seems like it has massive, if concerning, potential.
[ ] Transcendence: There are deeper secrets, you merely need to reach for them. Roll 1d100, the result is compared to a table and a new formerly Restricted Domain is granted as an Associated Domain. It's basically a Gacha, some can be very good, some can be mediocre, and some are about on par with your standard choices, you just don't know what you'll get!
Our Domains make us who we are, I would be very wary of just taking on new one randomly. But if this is desired lets do it later when we are stronger and stuff like two more domains of our choice is worth much less.
[ ] Expansion: Select two Associated Domains that you have previously passed up, the safe but boring choice.
A great boost to our growth rate and short term survival I think. Besides the Domains offered in the update, we have also been offered Sorcery and Guardian before. If we take this, I say we take Sun and one other, Elysium perhaps. Or Weather because it seems like it would combo well with Earth, and further boost terraforming. However, compared to the the other options offered in this vote domains are much easier to come by.
