Needs a heart in the middle and then it'll be perfect

Simply displaying the flag will cause the eyes of Victorian soldiers to melt and dribble out of their sockets, as if they had gazed into the mouth of madness itself.

Then we can go shoot them while they're distracted from going blind and the intense pain of having their eyes melt.

Tried my hand at making a super rough flag in paint; tell me what you think!

*laughs uproariously*
Well Well Well

Let's kick this revolution into overdrive!

Right. @Rat King wanted to see my design idea visually. I literally did this in Paint, so it's not great - it's just for visualization.

Design 1:

(ignore the red pixels around the phoenix...)

Design 2:

(ignore the horrible pixelation of the phoenix...)

And yeah, 9 horizontal stripes, in an attempt at further simplification. Justify it as, err... Mumblemumbe something about honouring the Sons of Liberty and not specific parts of the country mumblemumble :p

Long live the gay communist space caliphate. Our eternal masters, the lovers Lenin and Lincoln will guide us towards a money less utopia.

If we do stars, the number and arrangement of them should be significant in some way. As should the specific colors and arrangements of stripes.

We really shouldn't just slap things in because we think they look nifty. Flags have a lot of meaning to them.

Could do 5 - old Chicago flag plus one for the founding of the new US or whatever our polity is.

I'll start thinking of star numbers.

Think we should keep the thirteen stripes.

Four stars, one for each American Republic?

1: Articles of Confederation (First Republic)
2: 1787 to Civil war (Second Republic)
3: Civil War to the American Fall (Third Republic)
4: The Chicago Accords (Fourth Republic)

Though I guess you could get five by adding in the British Commonwealth of the mid 1600s in there as the "First Republic"

no comments about my proposed flag? it's got the fifty stars, easy design, birdlike shape, everything :(

Criminy. Okay, sure.

This one's my favourite - keeps a line back to the old Chicago flag, but the circle of stars in the middle makes it look like it's about cooperation - the stars orbit each other, which sends a message that everyone is equally important. The thirteen stars on the blue background and red and white stripes calls back to the beginnings of America, which is very appropriate given, well, the entire setting, and most importantly a decent facsimile of this could be easily reproduced by a 5 year old with some coloured pencils.

Simple, symbolic, distinctive. While I would love to have an Eye of Providence involve just because I love that symbol and it would freak out the Vicks, this one still definitely gets my vote. Maybe we could put an Eye of Providence on the coat of arms. Maybe mirrored or surrounded by a Freemason compass.

What about the Continental Congress?
