Transposition, or: Ship Happens [Worm/Aoki Hagane no Arpeggio | Arpeggio of Blue Steel]

After dinner, I did homework, and then after that, I finally went on PHO to see what they were saying about everything.

And then I realized I didn't have an account for my cape identity.

I could have just edited the servers and added it myself, along with all the relevant tags, but doing that felt… wrong?

Which is totally hypocritical considering what I'd done the night before, I know, but it still felt different somehow. Also drawing mod attention if I suddenly showed up and none of them had records of me going through the verification might be kinda counter to what I was trying to appear as.

Either way, I just bit the bullet and made a new account with my name, made a small camera out of nanomaterial, took a picture of myself in costume against the blank wall in the hallway, and sent it off to the mods. Not even five minutes later I had my tag.
While I'm thrilled to have gotten a new chapter and enjoyed it overall, this part felt a bit contrived to me. It would be one thing if she just came out and said the reason she didn't edit herself into the servers was so she wouldn't arouse suspicion from the mods, but that seems like more of an afterthought to her. Instead, she has an inexplicable feeling of wrongness at the idea, despite having admitted to having made worse offenses the night before without hesitation. It honestly just seems like an excuse to avoid having her draw attention from Dragon.

Then again, maybe I missed something. I'll admit to not being familiar with the non-Worm half of the crossover, so there could be nuances I don't understand at play. Or I could just be completely off base with my reading of that segment. :V

Errrrmmm... Taylor says this in chapter 1.2:

Globally, shipping still happened, just not as much. Other, smaller countries had stopped trying to use ships altogether in fear of attracting Leviathan's attention.

I had this strange sense of familiarity, of rightness, that this was something like how it should be.

But at the same time there was this… indignation, almost? Like I was annoyed at Leviathan for claiming the seas as his own. Not because he'd pushed humans out (that made perfect sense), but more that… he wasn't supposed to be there?

…I felt like I was eight and some other kid had stolen my favorite swing.

I do remember something about her being "Experimental Plataform X-1" and something about reconnaissance, though.

Just because Leviathan stole something that only Taylor is allowed to do, doesn't mean Taylor is just going to automatically do it!

Only Taylor can be trusted or is allowed to declare a monopoly on the sea. And she's a pretty chill person, so she hasn't done so either. That means *NO ONE* is going to be declaring a monopoly on the sea, on pain of Dakka Cannons to the face.

The next Endbringer battle could very well end up extremely fun.

So my next though is, welp better get ready to wait for a year for this to update. Also Is this on spacebattles.com or not

What possible problems?

Squealer could have tracked down the power source Relentless Salvaged from her Truck?

The Submarine Body now sports Monster Truck Tires as it drives all over the City?

Her Mini binge watched "Down Periscope" and now there are several Taylors who look and sing like the Village People?

That last one had me think of the part where the sub code between the props of that tanker.

Sorry if that question was asked already, i haven't read ALL of the posts:
The question is, WHAT would Taylor find, upon "making wish" to find info about Tattletale?

I mean, which comps are going to "share" that information? PRT's? Coil's? Cauldron's?

I'm not sure what you mean, but it's very clear she is Tattletale, and any documentation that existed in canon Worm about who Tattletale really was, is also presumably available in Transposition.

Well... PRT already should have her real name + alias. Some "Echelon type" organization, might have records of ALL hers+Coil conversations (but haven't bothered themselves to check on them).
The question was "what level of information" Taylor going to get upon "making wish"?

I think that the thing is: No one has any idea what you mean by 'making wish'.

From context, @Fetad is probably referring to how Taylor barely seemed to even have to think about wanting to buy the old shipyard and who would be keeping track of that, and then she was inside the relevant system with all the forms filled and filed. Exactly how that would hold up when going against real secured data rather than the town offices is not fully explored as far as I remember (Did she discover Dragon as an AI yet, and doing anything if so?) and I'm not all that familiar with HnA, but she has basically all the Space Magic so I wouldn't be surprised if it was just that easy once she knows the right questions to ask and where to look for the answers.

Well, it was a little bit more than just filling out forms, she also stole all the money for it from Gesellschaft and I figure banks, especially the ones used by international subversive parahuman organizations who do business with the Number Man, would be somewhat better secured than "City Hall in some random place".

Granted, the PRT would probably have top-notch security which may be better than banks, but on the other hand, the PRT is (with the exception of their own investigations) getting their data from regular old government records which are probably not better secured than City Hall (and in fact are often in City Hall too). Especially when some of those records are legally open to the public. For the purpose of tracking down Tattletale's background, doing facial recognition on tons of population records is probably the best way forward, and it's probably what the PRT did if anything, too. None of that needs special access to the highly protected PRT servers.

Also, how exactly do we know that the PRT knew who Tattletale was, at least prior to her first-ever capture and almost immediate subsequent death? Taylor has a pretty big advantage there, since she has actual access to genetic samples etc. whereas the PRT probably lost interest in investigating when Tattletale "died" almost right after they got the information they needed to actually, like, investigate.
