Transposition, or: Ship Happens [Worm/Aoki Hagane no Arpeggio | Arpeggio of Blue Steel]

Sorry, Vicky, no shortcuts to seducing Relentless! Sooner or later, this will lead to meeting Amy (and blowing her mind in the process).
Unless her power is more bullshit than I think it is, Amy will only be able to tell that Taylor/Relentless is not organic. That by itself could be mind blowing, I guess, but she can't use her creepy powers on her either, so I'll consider it a win :D

She was leaning over me, holding me to the cement roof of the building by my wrists, straddling my midsection. A rather compromising position, to be honest, and more than a little embarrassing.
I can hear the scotch being poured already. :V

This was nice. Chapters like these are always good just for character introductions and a short laugh.

There was a Batman parody where that was the entire story. Every time the Batman-expy tried to dramatically brood about being one with the night, some damned flying brick would come by and interrupt, thinking they were preventing a suicide.

Yes soon I will finally understand what everyone is talking about when the mention the mecha dragon :D. No seriously by the time I found this fic the scene was already removed for rewriting. Still an awesome story.
You and me both.
And the story continues to be great, yes. It's cool seeing a calmly confident Taylor, rather than one that only gets there by being broken or crazy.

Not organic? Surely you jest, her skeleton is basically pure carbon!

Isn't "Relentless" wearing a fullbody tinker tech armor as far as anyone(except Vista) knows? As such Amy not being able to use her power on Relentless would be expected.

Very good subversion on the whole meeting Vicky thing, often times it is either a super antagonistic meeting or a best friends forever one, I like how awkward and real it was. Great job as always Ensou
That was a super antagonistic meeting...that Taylor ignored. Victoria basically attacked Taylor twice, and Taylor just shrugged off the attacks and controlled herself well enough that she didn't hurt Victoria breaking out of her attempt to restrain Taylor. If Taylor hadn't so completely outclassed Victoria it was obvious fighting was pointless I expect Victoria would have continued attacking.

My guess is it would have been used to 'persuade' the person on the ledge to not jump.
she only did it after Taylor broke out of Victoria's attempt to restrain her, which was after Victoria knew she was a cape and not planning on committing suicide.

Why would it be mind blowing? There are plenty of capes who are partly or completely inorganic - Hookwolf and Weld both spring to mind.

There is a Spanish superhero parody, called Cálico Electrónico, which usually at the start of every episode had him looking down from a skyscrapper, and usually something weird happens to him.

If you think it, ironically this meeting will plant the seeds of interest of Vicky for Relentless.

Because i can guess that it was while alien, also felt incredibly comfortable after the initial surprise to feel once again.... Human.

Not Glory Girl, no awe, no fear, no inwards wariness that she will go overboard past a point where neither Amy or her family can fix things, no fragile world around her or twisted reactions by her aura.

Just once again Victoria Dallon, speaking with another girl like a normal girl.
holyknight threw 2 10-faced dice. Reason: Odds of Vicky & Relentless? Total: 16

The sheer awkardness bleeding off of Taylor through this entire update was amazing. I could see so much of myself in the "I really want you to leave now, but I'm too polite to tell you to fuck off, and why can't you get it through your thick skull that I want you gone already?"

You know, this chapter made me imagine that somewhere out there, there's a superhero who keeps trying to stand at the edge of building roofs and look down at the city, only to be repeatedly tackled away from the edge by a random hero doing a flyby, screaming "don't do it" every single time.

I am now imagining a class C superhero in the One Punch Man universe named Antidefenestrator.

So basically Glory Girl, on purpose, pushed her master power to its limit on somebody who she didn't know and didn't visibly do anything wrong?
I expect she started pushing it once she realized Relentless was unaffected. It's something I'd expect as a possible panic-reaction to a power she is so used to seeing the effects of not working. Also, not sure precisely how related it is to her own emotional state.
That's like pointing a gun at somebodies knee and telling them if they jump they get to suffer. Even if well-intentioned, using a master power on somebody you thought was a normal, non-powered person, is a big no-no.
Given that her aura can't be disabled, so far as I know, she might as well make use of it. Particularly if it has a 'default' power-level, and altering it from that level takes mental effort.

...One of those 'attacks' was an honest mistake, and the other was likely a fear-driven panic reaction, with a shot of curiosity and confusion after she realized her aura failed. Neither of those things are something I would actually hold against GG, personally.
she only did it after Taylor broke out of Victoria's attempt to restrain her, which was after Victoria knew she was a cape and not planning on committing suicide.
She also did it after Relentless casually broke her forcefield, and was showing no signs of being affected by her aura, neither of which are things Victoria deals with on a regularly basis. A complete stranger being immune to her aura, and being able to overpower her, would likely be quite intimdating/frightening, even for someone with two years of experience under her belt.

So Glory Girl's strength also requires her forcefield here? What about her flight?
Source? I don't remember that from canon.

Re: Glory Girl, I'll just say that her super strength and invincibility are linked. Hard to distinguish hitting something and being hit. There's still that big impact, so Glory Girl's invincibility does shut down briefly after she whacks something hard enough. Wearing armor that requires super strength to lift could be problematic if her strength comes and goes.
Her flight, force-field, and aura are all separate, though, from what I'm aware of. It's just the strength and the force-field that are linked.

Is this at all canon?
Nah. Just an omake. Much like the JTN conversations in the backs of the manga, I suppose.

I'll add the old version in a spoiler just so people can see it if they want while I'm still working on the new one. I didn't anticipate it taking this long to do.

All of the attacks were "honest mistakes" if you mean that Victoria didn't mean to attack her, but continuing to restrain someone after repeatedly them asking you to let go and trying to force you to let go is an attack and not one which can IMO be justified, Victoria attacking in a panic after Taylor successfully broke free is understandable to an extent...except that it was all as a direct result of Victoria's earlier unwarranted attack.

Her initially grabbing Taylor and pulling her away from the edge was understandable and would be an amusing mistake, continuing to restrain Taylor after that and even attempting to question Taylor while she's restrained was not.

So basically Glory Girl, on purpose, pushed her master power to its limit on somebody who she didn't know and didn't visibly do anything wrong?
No, my guess is that she turned it up to a noticeable level when she thought for a moment that Taylor was a villain (and was scared at how casually Taylor showed she was stronger than Vicky), noticed that Taylor wasn't reacting at all, then turned it up to full to see if Taylor was legitimately immune--and it turned out she was.

"Ha!" Glory Girl threw up her hands and stood so that she was standing on… nothing. Thin air. Only held aloft by her ability to fly, but she was as stable as if she were standing on the ground.

I'll admit that seeing that made me a little jealous. It was less the ability and more the casual usage of flight that triggered it more than anything.
Are Taylor's force fields stationary after creation? I mean, is there any reason she can't use them to fly in a Magneto pose after creating them? If I had flight power, that'd be how I'd go about doing it. The swimmer's pose always looks uncomfortable to me.

She's already immune to GG's power, so Amy could just think Relentless is immune to her power also. Which means if they do become friends, Amy'll know it's not because she just wants Amy to give her bigger boobs.
