Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
My point was that it's not actually her Talent that's attracting people wanting a marriage alliance, it's that she's doing extremely well even for her talent.

OK, essentially my point is that the talented Ducals have Ducal-level resources and presumably (I don't know their Talent offhand) aren't that much below her in Talent.

Ling Qi had, at the start, just her Talent.

Meaning that she was able to use her own abilities and maybe a 1 or 2 Talent advantage to keep up with people that both had significantly more resources than her, but also had a head start.

Im looking forward to this red wedding arc

It's 99.999% certain to be just a wedding, since if you commit murder at Cai Shenhua's wedding in Xiangmen itself?

  1. You're ruining her wedding. She's likely to be pissed.
  2. It's considered a major insult to the host, due to the infringement on Guest Rights. As in, it's a masive loss of face for the host.
So TLDR pulling a Red Wedding in Xiangmen at Cai Shenhua's wedding sounds like an excellent way to end up with the undivided attention of a White who, when her family was wiped out apart from her due to the Hui being dumbarses decided that the Hui had to die and actually pulled it off.

Needless to say, your Clan will certainly go down in history.

As one of the purest examples of "Cultivator Darwin Award winners" around.

Though oddly enough, IIRC not actually the stupidest ever.

I feel like Meng Dan is being given too much credit in regards to how much more positively Ling Qi appears to be reacting to him and his advances compared to Bao Qian and Xuan Shi, when he has the distinct advantage of being the only one of her suitors to have expressed his interest and gotten an initial response to said expression post-Brother Darksong and overcoming her hang ups with relationships and romance in particular.

While I agree that both of those things directly played a part in her advancing at the rate she has, I don't know how easy it would be for an outside observer to disentangle innate talent from her drive/skill. I don't think it's that easy to tell apart a well organized talent 6 from a perfectly efficient talent 5 from a haphazard talent 7.

No, but that's probably why it's taken so long. If it was that easy to pick out, we'd probably have had suitors while we were still in the Outer Sect.

She did have them in the outer sect. LanLan did try to set her up with Gu Tai, but it fell through not only because of LQs personal problems with relationships but also because we took Cai´s offer.
There was also that one weirdo that did try, but got told off by his family because someone didn't like it.
Do we know who helped LQ here? (I don't remember)
And others didn't really try because most people saw her as the Handmaid of Meizhen, and who wants to poke that snake's nest?

not to mention the empress will be there. and representatives of most Ducal clans. it might not be as personal for them, but they certainly won't like it, especially the empress and those aligned with the emerald seas.
you would have half the empire quite willing to help hunt you down, apart from the very angry white whose way deals revolves around truth and scouring away shadows.

you might as well personally insult the Sun, Moon, and the celestial dragon while doing it

"Heaven is high and the Empress is right fucking there!"

Well yes, but the rest of them need to travel back to their capitals, call their armies and then head back to the Emerald Seas in order to hunt you down, so you might think you would have enough fo a head start to leg it quickly enough to escape before they can hunt you down.

Shenhua, OTOH, has the White Plumes right there, meaning that the best case for the dumbarses is they're trying to outrun the White Plumes in hot pursuit.

Meaning Shenhua's fury would be the more immediate problem.

call their armies? the place is choke full of ducal sovereigns. this is the army!

"You're lucky you're so comfy, or I'd have never agreed to trudge all the way up here," Hanyi huffed, crossing her army haughtily.

"I, Zhen, have been doing all the trudging."

"No. Gui has done that."
My brothers in Mother Earth, you are the same person.
Poor reformist tho. They thought they could reform through the Meng way of dialogue and consensus. But the reactionaries rather kill everyone then even entertain that idea.
A tale as old as time.

I wonder how Qingge is going to take the news that a Ducal scion wants to marry into the Ling clan as her daughter's husband.
Anime character voice: "A DUCAL SCIOOON!!"
