I'm half tempted to see what yrs has planned for if we say no, but come on this is like the only thematically resonant option at this time. Ling Qi failed in the face of the Hunter King, and has since put herself towards being able and willing to be the pebble that shifts the balance between the mighty.

What other choice is there?

As much a fun trope reversal it would be, for the protagonist to be the cautious one telling the mentor that they are not ready for the challenge mentor thinks they are... it would be considered a reversal of the norm for a reason, and I would rather have Ling Qi act like a normal protagonist in this case.
