[X] Give her word that whatever she saw in Liling, she would only share it with Ji Rong. (+1 Bond with Ji Rong, deal goes forward smoothly information doesn't pass about this deal, including that the request was made at all. Cai Renxiang only knows you've struck a deal to better handle the Sun, no details)

I see we have a contentious vote this time.

Where are you getting this from? I must have missed it
There was that series of sidestories told from Sun Shao's perspective. In, I believe, the last one he details the deal he struck to kill the extremely overpowered Bai kill squad that eventually chased him into the jungle, after his rebellion. One of the things he had to pay was 'blood of the dragon's or similar. In context, that meant the Bai themselves, since they have dragon heritage even before imperial intermingling.

This also lines up with what we know of the Sage Emperor, who was sponsored by the then-not-yet Imperial dragon.

We don't really know specifics though.

Man, imagine what it must've been like to be Ji Rong through all this. You make your choice and set out to the Western Territories knowing that things won't be easy but trusting that between you and Liling you can make it work. You pay attention and listen and start hearing the drums, and you begin to understand the enormity of the task ahead of you, how deep the rot goes, while also now feeling like you're surrounded by it at all times.

At least you still have Liling by your side. Nothing's fundamentally changed, you already knew the two of you were taking on the world... and then Liling comes back different. All of a sudden there's a divide now, because you have no clue what just happened to her and can't fully trust her anymore. And you're still surrounded by it all, but now in a very important sense you're facing it alone.

Just, a total systematic disassembly of his sense of security. It's no wonder that he reached out for help as soon as he could. This isn't the kind of problem he's suited to solving, no matter how much protagonist power he has, and his closest companion is now his most immediate adversary. How much time did he spend over there, stuck with no way forwards, watching and waiting for any kind of opportunity to emerge?

Quite the contrast to the close-knit band of eventual-revolutionaries we've become.

When we first made contact with the Diao lady, Renxiang explained how she understood the need of deals under the wraps, even if they aren't her preference. In an ideal world, all accords would be open and public to prevent corruption. But this isn't her ideal world, so some compromises must be made. And who better for the job that her trusted retainer?

Even so, I think we should add an amend that, in the case Ling Qi finds something immeditely threatening for the Summit or our safety (i.e. she perceives the Sunflower Goddess' desire to expand into the rest of the Empire), then she will immediately inform Renxiang.
That's just reasonable. Including conditionals is something Ling Qi does all the time when dealing with spirits, specially so she doesn't get stuck in an unfavorable position or is forced to break her word.

The usual process is to approach the one you made an oath with, explain the situation and rescind it with mutual agreement.

But nothing says we can't act on it, only not spread it about.

I shall only vote for this because a handful of people are backing me up on dress-chan having tentacles made of cloth!

Fucks sake, someone take a swing," Zheng Fu grumbled under his breath. She caught his eye and he lowered his head a little chuckling.
I love you Zheng Fu. Your so cool.
You think I'm a meatheaded thug, dragging the street around like a prison weight, right?"

"Your words, Baron Ji," Ling Qi said flatly.
The little floursh in the response got me good.

Ling Qi has a long history of being the frosty rock that chills Sun's plans.

JR is a classic Xianxia protagonist and I see nothing wrong with being the weird priestess who hands him a plot hook
