[X] Allow Gan Guangli to play the bait, while you play the deadly wraith, trapping and killing it once it engages him. (70% success. Beast slain, low risks of collateral damage. Less intelligence on similar creatures.)

This isn't about the probabilities, we love defying those, but let's not piss off the neighbours with collateral damage.

[X] Take point yourself soaring up to meet in in the sky. Trapping its attentions in your mist and illusions, give Gan Guangli the time to set up his technique. (50% success. Beast captured or slain depending on degree of success. Higher risk of damage. More intelligence on similar creatures)

I don't really see a reason to take the high risk option.

The opportunity to know about what our fief is gonna have to deal with?

I doubt we are going to be completely in the dark about these creatures even if we kill it, and we can go hunting for more if we really need to.
So, what we are actually risking here?
Possibly relations with our neighbours, yes, they are so weak we could just destroy them with relative ease, but i would still very much prefer to start at the strongest and most positive footing we can, and not just because i want beaver bureaucrats with tiny clay tablets and official hats.
Because, no matter how useful the information would be, who here would appreciate that argument if someone did the samekind of gamble with mom and Biyu?
Also the clay tablets, these people have potential first hand accounts from the time of the Weilu, and they have already lost some of them to these attacks, do we really want to risk more?
The prison is already hanging by a thread, i don't expect a fight here to break it, but i could see it being part of the collateral damage making it more time critical to fix or otherwise deal with.

I just don't feel the potential gain is worth the risks to our goals, let alone in a more general public safety sense.
We are in the middle of a village, where we are guests, and i don't want us to take risks with lives of other people when we don't need to or have a strong pressing reason to do so.

This part here convinced me, though I am sure the tablets wouldn't crumble from just this one.... But yes, better not risk the old archives.... Meng Dan would kill us if we destroyed more of them. :V

Better intel on these things is something we'll have multiple chances at getting. A first impression of "showed up and were polite, then murdered the terrifying enemy that's destroying it entire Court with barely any collateral" is a one time chance. And that kind of impression is what turns unhappy allies working for you to not die into genuinely grateful and enthusiastic partners. This wouldn't be enough on it's own, but it's a strong step toward beaver friends and despite only just learning of the possibility I will always vote for beaver friends.

I'm seeing "this won't be our only opportunity," and... No, I'm pretty sure you're wrong? This is a quest, people, and our votes are supposed to have consequences. This isn't a monthly plan vote where things rolling over is standard, this is a one-time event. If we get another opportunity to do this sort of thing then the gains will be lesser or it'll be in a situation with bigger stakes, that's how this works!

Oh man this is a hard vote. I'm pretty torn between the two options. Lower risk of collateral damage and higher success rate or more intelligence gathered but lower success rate? I think I'm going to go with...

Now let me explain. This could be our only opportunity to safely isolate and capture one of these creatures at least any time soon. If there is an intelligence behind these things then us engaging one will alert them to a new threat whether this thing gets away or not which means there going to be more cautious going forward which is going to make it harder to get one isolated like this, it's probably a one time opportunity. The root of the current problem is these star things going at the glacier and trying to break this prison thing and our long term goal is going to become take care of these star things trying to eat away at the prison. To stop them we are going to need information and this is our first chance to get it, it's an advantage we might not see again. If we succeed either way the beavers are going to be happy, maybe less happy if there is collateral but still happy. I think that gathering information is a better long term gain. We must know our enemy and the sooner we learn about them the sooner we can properly remove them from the beavers home. We should think in the long term here so we can better help our neighbors down the line.
