Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
[X] Whirl into the glittering Gala of crystal and light, the great ballroom, under the dome of Xiangmen's crown. Ignore the tarry darkness still clinging beneath the tables, the scorch marks upon the beautiful walls. Witness Fantasia.

Bring on the dreaming moon.

Good to see the impact of the limit we imposed on ourself, I'm pretty sure if it was barred we would have taken that choice, it's a good reminder of what's lost rather than it just being absent.

"The party never ends for long in Xiangmen," Sixiang said cheerfully. "And I'm pretty sure grandmother is expecting you."
I have to say that I love that Ling Qi just accepts the fact that a Great Spirit is waiting for her. Part of me doubts that all moon cultivators have such a personal approach this early on in their Way, but Ling QI has just accepted it as part of her life.

[X] Dive unto the dim, warm halls, where bodies are packed, where revelry abounds, where the halls are scented with food and sweat and life. Ignore the crawling shadows, the webs spun in corners, the strained smiles. Witness Reverie

Sixiang's grandmother is "merely" the prism spirit Emerald Dancer, though she'd met her and the other two acting as their greater selves that one time already so it wouldn't be that weird.

We should go for the realism Ling Qi art is based on that she even said that a few times.

A delightful update. Love Xia Lin,
So initial guess. The first option represents an idealized state while the second one represents the current state.
I think it might be the dreams of the powerful as opposed to the dreams of the masses, with Pandemonium as the clinging remnant of recent trauma.
Mostly because
Ignore the tarry darkness still clinging beneath the tables, the scorch marks upon the beautiful walls.
Seems like it would be entirely absent, instead of ignored, in an idealized dream

My take on it is that Fantasia represents the rarified level of life that only the top tier of society gets to live in. For a musical comparison, it's Mozart.
Reverie is the common man, the exultation of life lived together. Country music or Tavern song for musical comparison.
Pandemonium is the deep primal part of society and people that is not and can not be tamed. It's the beast within all of us that underpins more rarified ideas like society and culture but is not entirely removed from the idea of humanity. Best musical comparison would be the howl of the wolf pack on the hunt.

Xia Lin tilted her head. "Perhaps a restaurant? I have heard good things of Xiangmen's food culture."

Ling Qi gave her a curious look.

Xia Lin huffed irritably, looking away. "There is nothing wrong with enjoying good food, even if it is unnecessary."
She's a foodie! Oh man I hope she takes LQ out on more of these. I love seeing this world's cuisine.

This seems like the most obvious combination with our recent understanding of Art and Creation. Art doesn't have to be good to be valuable and have meaning. There's something enticing about the crawling shadows and strained smiles too, in regards to how PLR functions as a combat art

[ ] Drown in the deepest places, where nightmares rule and history lives, dance the dance that has been since the days of beasts and dragons. Ignore the light, held close in clasped hands, the tales told in warm hovels, the defiance of cruel and mocking gods. Witness Pandemonium. Locked due to previous vote.

So, this is the option we gave up with our promise, huh? Well, not really regretting it. While it does sound amazing, I also think it would go over Ling Qi's head. And ours as well. I bet it would be a lot of criptic and hidden messages with a thousand different interpretations.
Even if Ling Qi is going for a Neo-Weilu movement, this is more of a pre-civilization, rebellion against the dragons thing. And we have been told several times that dreams aren't trustworthy sources, specially the older they are.
Not really in the mood of dealing with nightmares either.

The other two options are far more grounded in the Creation concept that Ling Qi is developing in Xiangmen. Totally digging Creation II's concept, by the way. Great connection with Isolation.

These options represent both worlds Ling Qi belongs to. The high nobility and the common people.
After the fight with the Hui corpse Ling Qi realised that all her art is touched by her humbles origins, the mud where flowers ground.
So the Reverie seems more fitting.
Of course, one can argue that, precisely because of that, Ling Qi would want to see what an idealized Fantasia has to offer.
Both are interesting, I don't think I have a preference.

And Ling Qi is no idealist

If the Dreaming Moon looked to the future, and the Hidden Moon looked to the past, the Grinning Moon exulted in the now.
The Grinning Moon was her desire for agency in her own life, of being in control of the world within the reach of her arms. The Hidden Moon was her caution, the desire to build a place of safety, either within or without. The Dreaming Moon was her the desire to grasp for more, seeking always the lights beyond her reach. This was not their whole of course, but Ling Qi was far from being able to embody even one phase. It was what they were to her.
She kind of is though. Dreams and aspirations are a core part of how Ling Qi sees Dream. Her desire to create a home, have family and friends, and be safe are what drives her forward. That's what Dream is, not just memories but also Wants and Ambitions, two concepts Ling Qi almost made core to her Domain. If this is the last Dream focused project for our Dreaming Moon Art before we master it then I'd like to finish off with what Ling Qi herself has says the Dreaming Moon is really about. It even ties into what our making connections was about, finding a future to build support around. We've already seen the everyday dreams and desires, now lets see what grand hopes the Dreaming Court has for all of Emerald Seas.

Oh, wait. I just remembered.
We promised Uncle Skelly to investigate the Dreaming Court at Xiangmen, and trade stories with him.
Fantasia is more fitting for that?

No, Ling Qi is absolutely an idealist, she's been an idealist since decision to swear fealty to Renxiang (as that's the reason why she swore fealty) as demonstrated by the Music Duel against Yu Nuan. What she isn't is an optimist, she was too exposed to ugliness of the world at too young an age to believe in the inherent goodness of mankind or the structures of power.
