Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
Per a native Chinese speaking member of an unrelated discord server, Xisheng isn't the name you would want for the little girl.
But the word they're using is sacrifice(verb). 祭品 / ji-pin is the word for a-thing-you-offer-as-tribute and would be a much more aesthetically appropriate name. As is, the connotations of the given name Xisheng imply something like- one who sacrifices, especially one who sacrifices others or one who considers sacrifice the highest virtue they embody

It kind of sounds like the person isn't a reader because the context of the conversation Xisheng had with Su Ling did indicate that sacrifice was the only virtue they embody, meaning xisheng would be correct.

The conversation was actually about Ryuugi's story, and happened before this chapter came out.
The child-ghosts head tilted the side, their curls auburn red now. "But how else are you gonna eat Momma. If you don't, she'll eat you. That's what we're for, she takes what she's owed and gives back the prettiest gifts! But they give us back. We're all sacrifice. And it makes her strong."
This line indicates to me that being a sacrifice is the motivation for the name more than value of sacrifice

Since today should be roll day here the omake points up to now.

@yrsillar I'll spend my omake point (1) to improve odds of grabbing ghost-child-whatever.

Also, @yrsillar I'd like to put my omake points forward. I believe I have 4?

Can someone tell me if I have Omake points? I think I have 1 but no idea how to check.

Anyways, if I do have 1, then I'll spend it here.

I will also give my single omake point to save this poor amalgam of child ghosts.

@yrsillar I will be using my single omake point to round up the chances, been holding it for way too long
(I think I caught all)

That would add up to 8, but I'm not sure if @Apocalyptic Loon can spend all 4 or if he is capped at 2 (in that case we miss 2 points as of right now).

Come to think of it, the last time LQ whisked a child away from their home, the mom angrily chased after her as well, huh?
Is this going to be the start of her legend?

Holymoly that is a bad roll. Thank goodness for omake points, lmao.

EDIT: Oh crap, wait...the omake points didnt even save us. O_O
Shits about to hit the fan.

We are definitely not being invited to more shenanigans with Su Ling after failing a simple child kidnapping in front of her. Shame on us.

Oh also the injuries we are sure to sustain after this but those are not that important, right?
:V

If nothing else, this'll certainly establish Fox-Mom's villain cred for the RR readers.

...Poor Su Ling is going to be even more driven after seeing this happen right in front of her face huh?

I actually don't think we fail at saving the child.
(50% success, injury to party based on degree of failure. Additional benefits for Su Ling on success.)

I read it that we save the child but don't get out of it without the big angry fox taking a swipe at us ... Hopefully.

It's a pity for the poor little spirit of the dead children, but luck will not always be on our side. And we really haven't been kicked in the dirt for a long time. When was the last time we lose rolls?

The real prize, and one that isn't lost on failure (unless it's real bad) is the resolution to make the effort in the first place.

So besides the inevitable scrapes and bruises and soul flaying, I wonder what other pain we'll get hit by? We could possibly lose that fancy new diamond snare we got. Our dress could get some kind of significant rip or tear in it. Or our flute could shatter again!

Losing our dream exploring implements, or them getting damaged and in need of repair, is possible too, but we don't really have a line on recovering from that and we've got a lot of dream stuff on our plate, so that'd be pretty harsh. Just have us lose an arm or something else easy to recover from.

I actually don't think we fail at saving the child.

That's in contrast to the base rewards offered in the other vote option, pretty sure.
