Thing is that Inroad Roots and Hou Zhang's Gift make too much sense synergy wise for the auction. I don't really care about the latter as much but logically, it's a very good pick. We really should be focusing on synergy and stuff that helps the story flow together. As for the personal one...I also want Weaver of Tails...grr

If you decide for removing one of them from my Plan Grand Tree Heist, I would actually suggest to keep Hou Zhang's Gift. Inroad Roots has a smaller boost that only apllies to the auction. Hou Zhang's Gift has a bigger percentage, applies to the absolutely important questline Long hand of the Law, and it's only the first part of a series.
Actually, that's just my edited first plan. The one in the long comment.

Root Inroads is only a 5% increase (which I assume is +5 on a d100) to the auction action, so it's kinda meh? It's a nice little bonus if you want the Bian and Xia clan rep and the Bian Ya bond, but I don't feel it's such a huge modifier as to be worth picking for its own sake.

And since it doesn't say it's a time limited choice, we can choose it next month if we want to. Minus the 5% bonus of course, but I think the utility of taking some of the other actions this turn far outweighs the opportunity cost of losing a +5 modifier on a d100.

Focuses on getting Dreaming skill up and getting us vault while still ensuring we got SSC up. It also give uss contact with Sixang and Su ling as well as working adoption and intel into a plan.

I like this plan a lot.

First off, it's got our girls Yu Nuan and Su Ling. Both just really feel like urgent priorities, not really willing to delay either of them. Plus, the Su Ling action gives +1 to all three cultivation actions, which is nice.

Second, there's a really nice common focus with the Dream stuff. The two Dreaming cultivation actions and Weaver of Tails syncs up. But the Dreaming Moon themes also sync up with the auction, because it's this big gathering around a huge stash of cultural/artistic artifacts, which is perfect fodder for introspection on the lunar patron of inspiration.

There's even a kind of by-play you can do with Hou Zhuang's Gift and the Dreaming Moon cultivation. We're doing the former with Sixiang, and it's kinda dry work for the muse? But that means that you can use the transition between that and the Dreaming fun to explore Ling Qi and Sixiang's interactions and how they kind of get sidelined and maybe even taken for granted at times. And more importantly, it creates a narratively grounded opportunity for Sixiang to properly flip the script and drag Ling Qi into taking having fun more seriously.

Edit: forgot to mention, Opened Vault is good in the plan for two reasons. One, it's just generally better to have those capabilities as early as possible so we're prepared to respond to circumstances; it's a similar logic to including Hou Zhuang's Gift. It's practical. It's related to our job as Renxiang's left hand. Second, we're meeting up with Diao Hualing in the auction action and continuing the investigation on Hanyi's concert's sabotage in some way, so being able to crack bypass security and crack storage devices could come in handy there.

I think the Hou ZHuang project will come in handy during the auction so it leaves us with one another professional project (or two socials) to choose.
We promised Su Ling we would bring her in the dream world to help with her decision and I don't think we should delay since she can be very impulsive. This also gives us +1 success on dream projects and +1 on motion projects.

I am still hesitant but I think we should start the adoption now, so we have time to set it up properly before we leave the sect.

So here's my plan, it optimizes two cultivation projects. The Dreaming Gala is important if we're going to take Su Ling's project since it advances Dreamwalker by 2 (with 10/5 successes).
The other two projects I chose because I think they might come in handy, though we can't get the full benefits for these cultivations projects with the rest of the plan.
Laughing Wind will definitely be useful for scouting out the area around the Wall, and Opened Vault advances the Vanishing trait so there are also benefits.
The most obvious benefit of Opened Vault is that we can use it for stealing though, and the auction would be the ideal set up to do that targets we identify thaks to Hou Zhuang's intel. Problem is we can only get the cultivation project to 8 successes out of 5 with the plan I propose. It's not possible to get to 10/5 for Opened Vault and for Dreaming Gala simultaneously since we need Argent Domain for both (and two social actions for opened vault).
We could of course choose another Cultivation project for which it's easier to get double amount of successes instead but we would basically be abandoning the idea of stealing valuable objects and documents from political enemies during the auction.

Its a long term plot thread we can finish up and it touches on Family, making it fairly important in our cultivation.

Also if we adopt her we can pour stupid amounts of resources into her cultivation too, improving her own gains, and that's done better sooner than later.

This turn should be defined around the actions that we can only take while the auction is happening. Both of the professional choices here (one is a converted personal) add %success to auction actions which is only relevant this turn. They also collectively give +1 XP to Mystery and Home and raise our bond with Bian Ya. Due to the bonus XP, Ling Qi actually traveling to Xiangmen, and Nesh really wanting TREE we slot in Xiangmen which advances Motion and Home (this will give the first bit of text on Home).
Then because we have two open project slots and not a lot of synergy to work with we slot in MOON projects. Hidden gives Spirit cultivation, Mystery and Causality project advancement, and gives LQ a chance to get additional moon love. This means Mystery and Causality level up and we potentially pull synergy out of thin air with omake points to boost the moon love chance. Grinning gives physical cultivation and advances Freedom, Motion, and Isolation and since it comes pre-doubled levels up Freedom all by itself.

Serpent Whisperer gets included because I want to use Little Workshop of Wonders on a different turn and LQ will get to see the gay marriage reaction in person sooner.

I agree it's better to get the adoption out of the way sooner. Not only can we start putting resources into their cultivation but we might also be able to start using them to help take care of other professional obligations that are probably going to come up. We kind of need to start building a network of people we can trust and delegate to. We won't be able to do everything ourselves.

Also we should take care of Weaver of Tails as soon as possible, that is not going to go well if we let it sit.

What I'm more interested in is following through on the offer to Su Ling and making sure our friend doesn't cut off her tails... Also, Dreamwalker trait is cool. I agree with following up on the Su Ling offer, but I think that should be the turn immediately following this one. We can stack a whole bunch of dream stuff at the same time if we want to, but the auction is forced to be this turn so doing auction action buffing stuff just makes sense to me.

As another fun turn plan, here was my reasoning:
I think TOV is one of the more immediately useful Want projects, advancing Vanishing is cool, but being able to steal from dimensional storage might be incredibly useful. Past that SoI has both Iso, Want, a trait advancement, a quest chain trigger, and is thematically fitting. Then we have the FSS successor (and requisite social) that is the focus of the plan name. Adoption Vetting is mostly filler because I couldn't think of a professional action that fits better, and from an optimization standpoint no Pro actions give Want benefits and AV doesn't give any benefits to other XP so we aren't missing out on anything by taking it here. LWoW is here purely for the Want XP.

Normally, I'd agree, but Su Ling has been shafted by us voters pretty consistently (even all the way back during Forge). Every time, we put off the action that involves her, and then we're surprised when she shows up looking like she's been through some shit. Kind of don't want to risk that here, since we have the heads up that she's about to make a life-changing decision.
