I will say that this is the moment for the Han to prove that they're borderline ducal material. This is the moment to show how the Han Fang, Han Jian and Fan Yu arcs have developed in our (and Xiulan's) absence
I would suggest that Han Fang, at least, has almost certainly progressed on his own Way due to his bond with a proper Han Tiger.
Whether or not that's translated to a motivated and driven Han Jian yet remains to be seen, but a Han Jian vs Han Fang fight that Han Fang doesn't hold back from could be a very dramatic moment.
Han Fang has talked about Han Jian's talent before, how much easier Han Jian is able to advance when he can be convinced to work. Han Jian's perpetual issue has been his lazy-cat attitude to cultivation and self improvement, preferring to busy himself with the struggles of his lessers/allies/friends/brother than actually work on himself. We'll see if Han Jian has been able to focus on himself properly or not this time around, but I have a feeling this bracket is a face-recovering bracket for the Han, whose scions both failed to make Inner last year.
We know that there are a number of Peak families that are supposed to each be around Ducal tier, and the Han are certainly an old enough family to have an excellent depth of Arts. They have been honored with their own political tier, the Marquis of Golden Fields. Han Jian is a child of the presumptive Heir of the Han and both he and Han Fang have Han Tigers as their bond-partners. I expect a Xiaobai with no spirit and a year behind to not be able to beat a Han with their Tiger. Either Han Fang or Han Jian, both Han should be able to win. That said, if Han Jian has hampered his personal cultivation again in order to bring Fan Yu up, well. I expect Han Fang to not hold back against his brother even if he's been treated as his liege often enough. Whether or not Han Fang could win even then is up in the air, but at least he'll have drawn his claws and shone his fangs.
My hope is that Han Fang and Han Jian have had the best version of their arc together, and that they have a very strong showing worthy of the Han. That will make Gan's triumph even more powerful, or his narrow loss more acceptable. Gan's arc actually had a similar issue to Han Jian's, in that he ended up underinvesting in himself in favor of his subordinates. A major difference is that Gan Guangli has the hardened work ethic to make sure to work and cultivate. He's the prospective Right Hand of Renxiang, and his counterpart isn't a subordinate but Renxiang herself. If he can live up to the standard.
There are at least two cards we know he has that could make a difference. His cloak, and his Sun Spirit. If his Domain Weapon is integrated already, that could also be an impressive advantage.
