Hearing people talk about their passions is very endearing. Someone inviting you to talk about your interests feels great. I'd be very happy to set that up, and maybe work toward a closer friendship between the two, because it seems likely to help them both through their issues. Ling in seeing that while he had a crush on her for a bit, he really is the steadfast nerd she thought he was, and Xuan Shi in having more friends, because he deserves them and will need a social safety net for his spirit's sudden and inevitable betrayal.
 
Ling Qi is in the early half of Green 4 (with body cultivation lagging behind), while Meizhen is almost Green 6? When did the gap become so much bigger?

If he's told in advance, he'll have way more time to build up a full head of steam and get super-excited. I want to see him, starry-eyed and oblivious, just nerd the hell out on the depressed spirit and gush about how amazing his master was, because sometimes that's surprisingly effective at jolting people out of patterns. That's probably not going to work on a spirit, given that they're more set in their ways than normal people, but it's still worth a shot.

Also, it'll be cute.

I don't think she's near Green 6 already, she's just saying she thinks she'll get there in time with Qingling.

Going by what we last heard from Renxiang, she and Meizhen are probably in the upper half of Green 4. Renxiang was reaching Green/Bronze 4 both close together, a little over two weeks before our spiritual hit 4, with our physical lagging behind. Meizhen was probably in a similar place.

Since this is the fabled water pill turn, our physical is about to catch up with our spiritual in one fell swoop. Overall, I'd estimate Meizhen should be less than a month ahead of us in base cultivation by the end of this turn.

Meizhen's always been ahead of Renxiang.

Benefits of being able to focus entirely on cultivation.

In case it's better for him to know in advance it is a place of dispair. Otherwise, I wouldn't really know.

"Hmph," Meizhen replied wordlessly, giving her a look that promised vengeance. Ling Qi resigned herself to being embarrassed in the future, the vengeance of a Bai was unstoppable after all.

Lower risk of things going catastrophically wrong. Also, if he has the chance to prepare, he may be able to do prep work to improve the sword's disposition when they visit. He may know appropriate gifts to bring, things to wear, etc.

I mean, that's kind of hard really. Barring Meizhen hitting a block, the only way that can really happen is that with enough time the advantage of a month or two she holds stops being significant.

Also we should be looking at G5 around turn 14, or the month after next, so Meizhen being G5 right now is pretty expected.
