Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
Regardless of the rank changing, CP, yadda yadda, in the case of Suyin being challenged and Renshu winning that means in Ling Qi's head that Suyin was basically targeted and the defeat meant to spite Ling Qi. The scale of the consequences is immaterial.

Ling Qi doesn't like seeing her friends lose, is basically what that line says.
Ling Qi can't have losers for friends. Look at how the tournament went. All her friends were winners. Look at Han Jian's performance. He tried to distance himself from Ling Qi, and what did he get in return? Not winning is what he got, the poor mad fool.

I'm going for this because I think we could suprise him with a challenge based on his two primary areas. He helps out regularly with wardings, so a trial where he constructs wards for us to pass seems possible, and I think we could do that. I also think he might well choose dealing with spirits if offered, and again Ling Qi is suprisingly skilled in that sort of challenge area.

804 I think is likely to have more stealth specialised arts, and will be better until we actually do some study of the stealth arts from the archive. So if the challenge could be stealth based we'd be better against disciple 807.

On disciple 812, loud and vulgar for current imperial sensibilities isn't necessarily meaning bad and I'm not convinced Ling Qi's own compositions are considered the height of imperial taste, and are often noted as somwhat gloomy. It's entirely possible that "loud and vulgar" is just her personal taste (important for cultivation). Besides which Ling Qi's most notable composition is her song for Meizhen (which I don't want to share in public) and required a lot of emotion for us to construct, so if she goes for a challenge of composition I'm not certain we'd win.

Plus 807 seems like more of a fun challenge that we could interact with as players rather compared to 812.
This better explains the point I was making in my own vote.

I don't want to pick on the common-born kid who got last place yesteryear.
Do note that losing a challenge is not actually a great loss. In fact, Yu Nuan's losses from us challenging her and winning are the same as her losses if we challenge someone higher than her and win - she goes down a rank*.

*Okay; technically she can go down more than a rank if the spot we push her down into was already filled by someone else challenging up, but that would also be the same weather we win against her or someone higher rank.

"No known bound spirits", as opposed to just nothing in the case of Disciple 807? In addition, all this talk of rumor and people badmouthing the commoner gives me a hunch that something about her is not as it seems. I'm curious to find out what it is, and even if she's just as rumors describe her she's still the most interesting of the three.

How is it that despite being a realm lower, being crafting-focused instead of combat focused, and coming into the sect with less resources, Li Suyin is on average only about half a rank behind Xiulan in stats?

Seeing how other people express their music arts seems like an interesting experience.

812 is a commoner with a penchant towards music and is a social disaster. I'd rather avoid the obvious foil if we can.

That being said, if 807 uses a bunch of consumables we just might find some cool stuff that we can use without a huge time investment. Assuming the fight doesn't resolve in a way that makes us hate one another.

foils are great, they give us an opportunity to temper ourselves!

Let's not step all over the girl who made it this far with no outside help and could easily be us.

Plus, where did the whole be ambitious crowd go when voting to meet the king last choice.

Also like, it probably won't even be a fight in any sense with 807.

Anyone wanting to "not bully the commoner girl" should reassess how the system works, because no matter who we pick to challenge, if we win she's going to be dropping a rank unless she challenges someone successfully herself. If I understood correctly, unless she successfully challenges someone, she'll be dropping one rank for everyone in the new group who managed to win their way above her rank.

Going up against 812 will likely become a contest of music, and everyone already knows we're good at that. It's not going to reveal any secrets to anyone else.

Going up against 807 will likely become a constest of stealth and thieving skills vs defensive skills - those, we want to keep under wraps.

Going up against 804? That has the potential of making us enemies, because he's well liked and has lots of friends. Both 807 and 804 are also valuable to the Argent Sect as a whole, with their contributions in the form of mission taking.

On the other hand, 804 will put us much closer to our goal of keeping up with Meizhen and Renxiang.
