Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
And another thing: aren't higher level energies supposed to be impossible to use in the Shisigui areas? Wasn't the whole point of the underground fort front to build structures to allow Elder Jiao to even operate period down there? And Cai Shenhua just strolled in and conquered an entire city-state? Just more Shenhua things I guess...
Shenhua's Light has been shown to be good at purifying the corruption of the Shishigui. She can probably just stroll through their tunnels and create a purified environment with little to no effort.

"As for you Renxiang," Cai Shenhua said. "You continue to perform well. This pleases me. I shall see to providing further resources for your growth and cultivation of subordinates. Should this diplomatic effort bear fruit, I shall consider granting you a boon."
You continue to perform well
perform well
Well
That is wayyy more than adequate. Which was AFAIK what usually CRX's work was described as by her mother.

*Tap chin*

Hmm given the spread of the Wang and Luo stuff, I'm thinking the general spread across all of the clans is something like:

Imperial Moderates: 0
Imperial Conservatives: -2
Weilu Moderates: 1
Old Tribes: 2

Which about fits the selection of people we poked with this approach. With Jia at 0 because they lean more Imperial Conservative compared to Wang, to match their alignment with Diao.

Kinda sad that Meng isn't at 1, but oh well we're no longer underwater with them. A spread of primarily positive liking of us is nice and what I was hoping to get.

Also. ROADTRIP!

Shenhua's "order from chaos" thing probably helps a hell of a lot, and the fact that she's a White.

For the talisman, and hear me out, has anyone given any consideration to a snazzy hat? I think Ling Qi would look mighty dapper in a fedora, amirite? Jewelry is so last year anyway.

"I have secured the surrender and tribute of the foes beneath Xiangmen," Cai Shenhua said as if she were discussing the weather. "The people of Ha'yth'kai, as they call themselves. The barbarians of the underground lands organize themselves into city states. These have surrendered and agreed to become tributaries of the Emerald Seas. Others will follow. The words spoken during my strolls have been most effective."
Several points of note:
-The Shishigui are organized into city-states: a single highly-developed population come yet and its scattered surrounding tributaries
—They might be part of the same cultural group, but, for some reason, one group or another haven't conquered the others to enforce a higher tier of organization
—This is great news, in terms of military strategy: instead of a whole province of enemies, we're facing a whole province of non-united enemies, that may, for a time at least, be defended against piecemeal
—Ha'yth'kai is the name of those below Xiangmen
—Y'lith'kai is the name of those below the Argent Sect
— -'kai seems to be the suffix for city? people? a sort of social group?
-The Ha'yth'kai are conquered and providing some sort of tribute.
—Surprise White still blows them up, though eventually countermeasures will assuredly be taken. The surprise Prism? that hit Jiao from the Y'lith'kai probably isn't going to be a mainstay for all military offenses below.
—What's the tribute? Not-spirit-stones? Impurity beast cores? Talismans and consumables? Food and material?
—Cai Renxiang is going to have to read up on the legal structures of the Ha'yth'kai very quickly. Under her paradigm, Shenhua just placed integrating an entirely different system founded on completely foreign principles into The Empire's systems on Renxiang's shoulders.

The Imperial Conservatives did not decrease. They were already at -2 and had been since we gained access to the Luo clan breakdown IIRC.

Organizational Reputation has gained further detail

"I do have to wonder why you bothered with even that much for a barbarian," the Imperial Ambassador said.
10/10 can do foreign policy.

Wow, Linqin really doesn't like CRX. I think basically every single on-screen appearance has her spending her time throwing passive aggressive remarks at us and trying to discredit our efforts. That level of vindictive pettiness aimed at a teenager by someone so old is honestly kind of pathetic.

The thing with the Shishigui seems pretty logical in retrospect. They only launched this war out of desperation, with the only alternative being slow but steady extermination by the empire. If the imperials weren't utterly blinded by supremacist ideology to a downright comical degree, they'd have offered them this deal years ago.

Remember, their local material's resonance with corruption was used by Li Suyin to create an incredible meridian opening tool. With access to that sympathetic connection for higher level corruptive materials, there might be something able to work in different and better ways, perhaps even better or longer lasting village/town/city wards. To say the least for how we can use their fucking SOIL as weaponry

And worst comes to worst, labor. So much labor, because they ALL live for centuries and with even a rudimentary study of formations we can have some basic tools being produced by the same craftsman for centuries longer than would be normal.

"No use holding principal above effectiveness."

Should be 'principle' (I see these two confused so so often)

Principal - Head of a school, person who is primary in some regard over others
Principle - An ideal, or manner of behaviour that should be strived towards

We know too little about how the whole Shishigui cultivation/impurity/reproduction thing works to really guess. We know enough to know that something is deeply weird, but not realistically much more than that.

10/10 can do foreign policy.

Imperial Ambassador as in 'Ambassador from the Imperial Court to a Province', not 'Ambassador representing the Empire to entities outside the Empire'

So yes, Foreign Policy is literally not this ambassador's job :p

In fairness you did choose the option specifically noted to lower her opinion of you

God. I'm just kind of glad we survived the eye beams of GLORRRRRRRRIOUS OPPRESSION MOM without cooking Ling Qi's brain, and that we managed to shift the overall impression of the Emerald Seas nobility to a resounding "Meh".

Plus, they seem to have some affinity for earth and stone, as seen when one of them casually pulled the starstone out of the ground. So they might be able to provide mineable resources much easier than the empire could extract them themselves.

Shishigui and the Empire basically didn't deal with each other tho.

The Shishigui near the Argent Sect were having a resource crunch and decided to tie their wagon with some Cloud Nomads because they need extra bodies for their river of filth and weird bugs.

A horrible thought just occurred to me.

Shenhua probably can't even properly look at mortals without them exploding into a fine paste as their brain bursts, if just a section of her actual interest did what it did to Ling Qi.

CRX is her lover's Heir and Child with someone who isnt her. In this sort of society that's a big deal. Especially if CRX's little sister turns out to be Linqin and Shenhua's daughter due to White bullshit. In which case she has personal and pragmatic reasons to want CRX to fail and for her daughter to be the one to inherit the Dukedom.

Its simply good dynastic strategy.
