Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
yeah, I support the Health + phys armor dress too.

one of the core arguments against giving Hanyi a meaningful spot in a fight has always been that she is too squishy. sure, she might not be as fragile as is often said, but lets be real: if it comes to some kind of combat-strategy vote, Hanyi having bad phys. armor and less than B health means that we will always be super paranoid about letting her contribute in a meaningful way.
Given that we already commited to working more with our spirits, I think it is only fair to give Hanyi a chance to actually contribute and for that we need to get her defensive stats high enough to calm our worries about her

"I can't stop pushing forward. I can't slow down. There's still so much path to travel," Ling Qi said frustrated. "But… I feel like I keep hurting the people I care about in pursuing my goal. Zhengui wants to fight beside me, but I keep leaving him behind. Because it always seems like the best option in the moment. My mother wants to be part of my life, but she's only barely a cultivator and there's so little she can do. And, if it keeps going like this, I'm going to leave others behind. Li Suyin just barely reached full third realm and I'm already heading for the fourth step. Xiulan almost killed herself trying to keep up with me!" The words poured out in an ugly torrent, and she lost the step of her dance, stumbling as reality reasserted itself. "She opened her eyes, turning to look at Meizhen seated upon the stone, looking at her with worried eyes.

"I don't want to be alone again, but I can't stop growing stronger."
This is one of these Statements full of desperate conviction which epics have been written about.

"Maybe," Ling Qi said, flopping down upon her favorite stone. "We're running out of time though."

"What do you mean by that?" Meizhen asked sharply.

Ling Qi blinked, and then she grinned sheepishly. "Ah, that was the other thing I wanted to tell you. It looks like I'll be joining one of the first expeditions going… down," whether it was simply her skills, or if Su Ling's recommendation carried weight, she didn't know.

"Of course you are," Her friend said, squeezing her eyes shut. "Please, Qi, do not be reckless."

"I won't be," Ling Qi chuckled. "How about you, what is the Bai's take on the Sect's mobilization?"

I have the sneaking suspicion that Ling Qi will find some kind of resolution down in the depths where, as we all know, most cultivators find naught but trash. She is a diamond out of the rough dirt after all and can recognize her own. It also needs to be mentioned that the expedition will be anything but easy and not everyone will be on her cultivation level in this trip down the mothers bones. I conclude with the conclusion that an advanced insight about social connections lies down the expedition, whether we will like the outcome or not.

I'm tempted by an almost full offense set:
[][Dress]Spiritual Hit, Resist
[][Talisman] Spiritual Penetration

My reasoning is that she has a lot of defensive debuff effects. For instance as long as Enrapturing Silhouette hits, her targets won't attack her and she can further debuff their ability to harm others. This also helps move her farther away from being a pale imitation of Ling Qi and towards filling in the burst damage role that we otherwise lack.

Meizhen pursed her lips, looking away. "It is impossible to relate to others without hurting and being hurt in turn. We fear, and we are feared," her words sounded final, as if to her it was some absolute truth. "But pains and fears have worth, when they bring us the happiness of companionship. There is more to strength than raw might
I get the feeling she just rattled off a list of Insights, at least one of which (hurting and being hurt) may have been inspired by Ling Qi

How does Health help Hanyi? It in particular has an anti-synergy with her drains, reducing their comparative strength.

Also what sort of role are we expecting Hanyi to perform? She's never going to have our versatility.

That's not an anti-syngery. Sure, her drains will restore less in sheer percentage of her health, but they restore exactly the same as before, just she now has more health to cushion against attacks. If anything, more health helps because she's more likely to survive to do the drain in the first place.

Unfortunately though, this Talisman is going to make it harder for Six to manipulate Hanyi in a good way.

EDIT: like soc.perception more than poise for Hanyi, think empathy will be harder for her to grasp than self-control.

so, i explained the dress before and i dont have much to add to it

now about the talisman:

the question is basically 'social or fighting?'

so lets look at social first:

Social Perception: D

Poise: D10

both of those stats are quite bad, but we cant really boost both. so what is more important to get to a decent level? good social insight (soc. perception) or being less vulnerable to others social techs (poise)? i think for now poise is better? it isnt like a perception boost would be big enough to let her look through all those people at the party. on the other hand, more poise makes it less likely for her to screw up, even if the talisman doesnt boost her to peer level

ok, so what could we use for fighting? better attack? more defense? or maybe utility?

for attack, it would probably be spiritual Hit? the stat is already decent at B20, but a talisman here might be able to push it close or maybe even over the edge to A with the active tech? that + her new defense would make her quite a bit better in a fight.

more defense? one cannot have enough defense, so we could just boost the same stats again or maybe sp. defense to turn her into a sp. tank? i dont think that is what we want though?

utility? probably Speed, initiative or resist.

Speed: at C20-B10 (LQ domain 20) isnt even that bad, and a boost her could combo with her movement art to make her another speedster. if we now get the tactics for mobile + static combinations going then having another fast/mobile CC user in the team makes sense? at least it isnt the worst option we have imo

Initiative: the idea of having a talisman that lets her move earlier and enables a lot of pranks is actually quite hilarious. the problem here is that Initiative: D10-C10 (LQ domain 20) arent really good base stats to base it on?

and of course our favorite stat:

Resist: oh no, this will end with us needing to vote resist again, doesnt it? the thing is, Hanyi's songs getting dispelled is about as bad for her as our songs getting dispelled is for us and she doesnt have a resist art/tech. She uses her Composure C attribute for it, so she could actually use a little buff there. This might not be needed if our shiny new resist art improves to protect our allies songs too, but it currently doesnt have the ability for it. So, I guess the only thing speaking against it, is that voting for resist again is kinda boring?

I think i will just approval vote

[X][Talisman] Poise
[X][Talisman] Resist
[X][Talisman] Initiative

Poise for social, Resist for combat and Initiative for the meme
