Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
Time it takes to the mountain makes it worse really, because everything between that mountain and the village is going to start moving. Directly due to the Cyan level fight going on there, but also indirectly due to spirits and spirit beast moving north. Going to be a gauntlet.

Searching a circle of 5 kilometer radius in the dark is not a trivial expenditure of time.

So I'd agree with you if we had to find him with our senses, but we can find him with his using Spring Breeze Canto.

We probably can't cover near that whole radius with our music, but at max "toot-n-zoom" it should still be way faster than otherwise.

Far range is 200m. A circle of radius 200m has area .13km^2; we're searching a circle of area 78.54km^2. That's a tiling of 604 Spring Breeze Canto circles, each of which requires 24 seconds to move between (assuming 1 km/minute movement speed, it takes 24 seconds to move 400m). That's about four hours to search the entire area.

Now, obviously we can do better than that, since e.g. we know he's near a bigass tree, so we can probably rule out the farmland. But it's not clear to me that we can do so much better than that as to be assured of getting back to base with time to spare.

we're low on qi, there's no way we can use spring breeze canto anywhere near 600 times

I was assuming cheerful muses accompaniment could stretch it quite a bit, if not to very far.
Even assuming we get it out to Very Far radius, the issue of our speed remains; we don't move that fast relative to the area we need to cover, so it speeds our search up by a factor of two but that is still really uncomfortably long to be searching.

I think the biggest thing with it is seeing around stuff and being sure we didn't miss him, so we could travel a more direct route through the zone and stay at speed more.

Also, it's not just the ones who are physically on the mountain who are going to be charging, the ones who are on the foothills, and the ones who are out of our area of responsibility but still near, are going to be the first to reach us.

[X] Return

Congrats on 200K words for Threads to Yrs!

Looking forward to seeing what Zhengui has been up to whilst we've been gone, hopefully he's seen some action (and really hope I don't regret those words).

I thought it was intentional. Like she was repeating that line to make herself believe it
Then it needs to sound intentional. Some additions to the line would make it work if the repeat was actually her trying to convince herself. If left alone, that just makes it like a typo.

Edit: you know what, I'm changing my mind. We need to have someone to coordinate the news and act as commanding officer for this village. A Rescue should let us offload these duties to this dude if we manage to rescue him.

Edit edit: wew. I forgot to add the vote

"I will accept them then," she had an odd sense of deja vu, as if she had engaged in a similar exchange before, but she shook it off. It was difficult to think about politics though, surrounded by devastation.
I like that yrs decide to drop this bit of deja vu right around when RR is coming around the corner of the Growing Pains arc (the arc when we fight Chu Song and when Yan Renshu first officially revealed himself)

Sorry for double-posting:

On rereading the update a bit, I have come to conclude that officer Deng is probably an officer in the same division as both Shen Hu and Gu Xiulan. Meanwhile, the scout officers who came with us were Ru Nan and Song Li, the former being with Shen Hu while the latter being injured around the outside boundaries of his assigned village

I feel the need to write this down since I noticed some people here and in discord kept confusing him to be a scout officer when he may have been something else.

...an asshat.

Seriously though, is there more of a "steriotypical Imperial noble underestimates barbarians despite Elder Zhou's warning" action than fiddle while Rome burns take tea in your quarters following spotting an enemy.

Like, do a spot inspection of the troops, ready your bow and sight in some distance shots, take tea on the the battlements so your men can see you're unphased, literally ANYTHING but "send to the southern village for aid, I'll be in my tent"

But what if he was an tea cultivator and used the tea to prepare for the fight!

You should not diss other peoples cultivation method and art setup :p

Obviously a tea cultivator would have spotted the assassin by how the impurities in their essence after entering the room threw off the bouquet of their drink and marginally changed the airfow making the tea cool too slowly.

He was just a nancy boy.
