Shard, are you seeing this. I just want to make sure we're on the same page here. There's 4+ more landings in the future for harassment opportunities.

Do you worry that they'll change their plans switch to direct command after "subtle harassment", invalidating our predictions and/or reducing Ridcully's predictive bonus?
To the first - Yes, and less Light Fleet now means easier harassment of those landings later.

To the latter - Somewhat, the odds of that happening doesn't seem all that high, though.

You'd need to run the tally again, of course it doesn't count votes made later.

  • [X] Plan Subtle Ambush
-[X] Medium- use everything but your armored warships to inflict as much damage as possible via ambushes and harassment tactics, be willing to accept some major clashes- This will inflict a significant amount of damage and not need Admiral Sarnow to be too blatant about using the information that Ridcully is providing him.
-[X] Primary: Light Forces- The Light forces will be those that are trying to seek out your ambushes, and so will be the easiest targets. - Attacking the Light forces will be the easiest option and will reduce the Abomination Fleets ablity to deal with future harassment.
-[X] Secondary: Targets of Opportunity - Try to cause as much damage as possible to the Abomination's overall navy, at the best possible casualty ratios.
-[X] Make subtle of the information that Ridcully has gained form the enemies plans- Medium bonus and small chance of them realising you have the plans.
    [X] Plan Wreck the Fleet

Yes, for the purposes of later harassment,
- Wreck has the bonuses of; much fewer escorts, (probably) martial malus diverging from plan, and continued Ridcully support.
- Wreck also malus of; enemy has taken countermeasures against being predicted, the effectiveness of which is unknown
- Subtle has bonuses of; fewer escorts, more effective Ridcully support
All in all, there's probably not going to be much difference in how effective the next round of harassment will be. But with plan subtle, we maintain the enemy's ignorance, which may play a large role in their subsequent actions, and this could be much more important than the next round of harassment.
Or maybe not, who knows, and maintaining subtlety now means we'd lose a good deal of our harassment advantages later if we go blatant in-between transport waves. But I don't expect the enemy armies to engage us before even the second wave has arrived, so there probably won't be much reason to go blatant between waves.

Well, Durin said they have a lot of contingencies. It seems overwhelmingly likely those should include the possibility of severe loss of escorts to harassment.

Honestly, I could be convinced to change my vote. Again.

If they do engage us though I'm quite hopeful.

Without their full numbers bringing them down will be much easier especially if they keep loosing transport ships in between trips.

Extract from the Epic of Horatius-
Extract from the Epic of Horatius-
a poem about the heroic chaplains accomplishments detailing the sabotage of the engines of the ork space Hulk over Mar Sara

Horatius, brave, looked to his brothers,
Clad in hard armour, as strong as their will,
Through the void they were hurled willing,
Had targets to hit, and green foes to kill,
Accompanied in force by their cousins,
Red in their colour and anger and all,
Teleported, they were, Da Crumpa's fall,
Fighting abounded down to the engines,
Tunnels were tight, so the Orks could not swarm,
Slaughtering hundreds our heroes marched onward,
Onwards on into a mighty great hall,
In this great hall was a monster, an ork,
With a Stompa, it's weapons did howl,
Blasting Horatius accomplished nothing,
So revving it's blade it circled to dual,
Too quick for it though, was the brave chaplain,
Smashing it's legs it started to fall,
Clambering quickly, up its great body,
Crushing it's pilot, still in his seat,
Godlike Horatius searched the horizon,
And listened, so calmly, to the smash of steel feet,
Onwards they charged, giving no quarter,
Though none was expected by the children of war,
Towards the engines, for glory, for valour,
To halt the great starship before it could pour,
Thousands, and millions, and billions, of Orks,
Onto Mar Sara, that world newly founded,
For only then, would the real fight be started.

Professional.. not quite sure what to make of that.
I'd like to expand on that.
Most likely professional attitude means even stricter adherence to the rules, but also a composed person (won't flip out so easily).
This will make any 'unorthodox' (by their standards) moves less likely, but also reduce the chance of him making a tactical mistake under pressure.
So basically he won't surprise you and won't be (outwardly) surprised.

Well if they don't then they're just sitting around getting nibbled at by Avernus, so I'd say they'll attack.
Maybe they intend to endure the nibbling so they can throw larger forces at our cities, instead of coming piece-meal.
I expect they'll spend the time just getting closer to our cities and scouting, maybe establish basic fortifications.

Do anyone know the range of our cities AA and artillery? I can't imagine they'll make very good time through the local terrains.
And how long does the warp journey to Valinor and back take the Abominites?

@Durin a few questions.
1. Does Ridcully know where the General will be deployed provided everything continues to go as planned
2. Will we be able to use one of our operatives to decapitate he and his command staff if so?

The first circle angyl concerns me a bit. I understand we needed horatius elsewhere but who do we have on hand that can shank it proper?

Xavier? Jane? Maybe Jacob?

I don't think we really have anyone who can stand up in a fight with a daemon like that, the Black Crystal Sword would help but i wouldn't want to pit Rotbart against it.

Let's not. Instead get rid of the sorcerers when the Valinor fleet leaves the system. If the Last Hunters and Phase Tigers can't get to them with Ridcully and Rotbart bonuses, then we can at least send some death-strikes and general harassment.
Optimally, we can focus on killing sorcerers without alarming Valinor too much. And then crush their hopes and dreams when they don't have enough sorcerers to make rituals.
Prevention is better than treatment.
But keep in mind that they'll probably still have reserve sorcerers on Valinor until the very last waves. And we would have to destroy all their ships or control void-space over Avernus in general to prevent them from shipping in those reserve sorcerers, so taking out the transports would only limit their fuel for rituals.

While we raid the heck out of them. It'll be worst for them in the Spine cause well...Trolls.

Our AA range to a max of around 800KM reliably and can down a Thunderhawk (which is much tougher than a regular troop transport) at that range so that envelope is massive.

Our normal Artillery has a similarly massive range + the Macrocannons but not as large.

And how long does the warp journey to Valinor and back take the Abominites?
No idea, it'd take us a while, but they're chaos so their time is much shorter than ours.

I'd say between those three + Lulana they could take it especially if we give Jacob our Sword.

That being said Durin did say that there is a possibility they have a sorcer good enough to make the deaths of their troops count towards a sacrifice, if so we have to focus it down stat.

Don't think we can use the power on a choire scale yet.

I had hoped to save him for someone scarier, though.
Eh between him and Lulana I'd say they could beat it.

Besides there ain't much scarier than a high level exalted demon.

@Durin, what is the reaction of a common Abominite to being told personally by Saint Lin that he is an actual Living Saint and that the Abomination isn't the Emperor? It's impossible for the Abominite to not believe him.

A Meeting of the Four Old Gods
Because Chaos is self-defeating:

=========================================================================================
Daemons chittered in the Warp, plucking souls from hapless mortals, stealing them from one another, and toying with the life-force of those in the Materium.

This was a fact, and none can deny it.

Yet to the titans who were moving now, they were oh-so-small.

Exalted who had butchered sectors, left hundreds of billions of corpses in their wake, ageless and immortal, some even a match for the C'tan of old, bowed and kneeled.

The gods were convening, Old Four coming face to face for the first time, for the last time, for the second time, and for every time in-between.

The first to speak left Daemonworlds juddering gouts of lava like burst veins, spraying the blood of a world as sulfurous clamor spat from uncounted maws.

"Why the fuck are we all here? I was gonna smack the face off that new golden fuck, show him his place."

The second to speak turned their worlds inside out, around, upside-down, warping and gurgling and screeching in nine-folded mazes that looped around so the end was the start and the start was the end and the middle was the beginning and the beginning never was.

"Well, it seems our previous newbie's little showing against Avernus gave said golden fuck an idea, you lummox."

The third to speak rose the dead from their corpse-slumber, rotting hulks climbing over and under and through one another, woven into an exhausted pile of mangled bone and turgid flesh that shambled through the world as it keened its sorrow at their rest disturbed.

"That was fun to watch. Still, you did do something, didn't you?"

The fourth to speak did nothing on the scale of the first three, clenching their gut and growling.

"Go kill yourself. Assholes should've warned me about the eels..."

The first three let out bellows of laughter, and billions of mortal minds were shattered.

After the planet-rending abominations finished their amusement, the second spoke.

"So, I called us here today, to laugh. Laugh at mister gold-and-shiny all over there on Terra, the big hypocrite finally among us. He's poking Avernus!"

All of the four joined the laughter this time, as their cultists uprose across the galaxy and hundreds of worlds fell to Old Night.

"So, you want to watch? Really, I didn't think you were a voyeur. I'll have to send you a link next time I have a set of worlds linked together by a string!" The fourth smirked.

Crystalline mazes across the galactic arms snapped into ravening swarms of sharpened knives.

"Like you're one to talk."

The corpse-hulks bloated in size, hideous pustules forming and bursting out yet more dead, or launching newborn and newslain fetus's across the skies to create more aberrations.

"He's got a lot of stuff there."

The four were silent, for a time, the vortex of emptiness drawing in more souls for the harvest.

"Mess it up so he doesn't get the glory of breaking that fucking planet?" suggested the first, as bodies gouted gore and men went mad.

Three nods.

Whee, ego issues!

I originally thought of each god deciding on their own "I don't want someone else to win" and telling their minions to sabotage. Couldn't write it in a way that worked well, so it went out the window.

That reminds me

@Durin
1. Have you rolled for Lamenters yet?
2. How many Nova cannons do we have to worry about on the Abom's side?

mmm, It would be nice to have Yeshamiel turn up, but I won't get my hopes up.

That being said though I am curious about Andres question...what would happen if Lin told an abom follower that their god is lieing...if it even bothers with that now a days.

Cool I hope they show up and we can let them recruit and give them a cleansed battlebarge.
Not without getting a peek at their gene seed and seeing if there's anything we can do for the poor buggers first :(.

Though that being said while a pipe dream beyond a pipe dream, curing them of their luck and having them as the Trust's second chapter would be SWEEEEET.

Bloody impossible, but hey I can dream
