So @Durin there was an interesting piece of lore that was posted over at the Spacebattles 40k RPG/General thread. While there is a strong chance of it not fitting into your fluff, especially considering how far along we are, mayhaps it will give you an idea or two.

is the difference has to do with the density of the demons? or is it something else?
pretty much, and a lot about symbolism and how a currpted God-Machine has more wight then a currpted warship
how hard to purify the Battle Barges are depends on several things, their origin being the most important. a ship made by Abomination is very hard to purify (near impossible), a ship that crew fell to the Abomination is easier while a ship that was crewed by loyalists and captured by the Abomination is the easiest.

This fucking planet.

"What will eat the corrupted god-machine? Iunno, something. Go poke it with a stick."
pretty much. your Mechanicus honsestly beleives that no matter how impossible there is something on Avernus that can do it. possibly including blowing up the galaxy and similar, they dread to think what a WMD would be to the Old Ones.

We know what Old One WMD's look like.

They're called Eldar and Krork.

By the way, Durin, just FYI, you saying Trazyn has a Krork in stasis is canon! And he's apparently in advanced enough Power Armor Fabius Bile went "huh. That's better than mine." Twelve meters tall.

bigger then most of my Krok but otherwise it seems like that bit of Embers matches canon. huh.

it varies, self-deceptive disbelief, being convinced that you are under th effect of a psychic power and insanity are some of the most common reactions
as is I know and who cares
1. Lin's aura should prevent them from not believing in what he says. Even if they think a psychic power is making them believe him, they should still be unable to not believe him. (And then, he can always tell the truth about the nature of his power and then they can't deceive themselves.)
2. I don't think it should be as trivial as you're making it out to be. If an Abomination champion who worships the "Emperor" is told by Lin that he is not in fact worshipping the Emperor, the resulting insanity should have a major effect on that champion's ability to fight. If he says "the best way to honour the Emperor is to kill yourselves and let me live" (or something along those lines), they would have no choice but to believe him because it's the truth. Considering how Lin's truth aura seems to have been given in the stead of special combat abilities (such as wings, holy fire, or an inviolable aura), downplaying his special ability's use against the one enemy it would be useful against seems like kind of a not good thing to do.

We don't want Lin in combat, we want Lin to stay out of combat.
Sure we want him in combat?
He's our greatest asset against demonic (or angelic) foes.

Edit: And he could use more traits.
If we're talking about what we want, I'd like a pony too while we're at it :p

That said, I would place putting Lin in combat at the same general level as Rotbart. Both of them are among our higher combat heroes (and especially deadly against daemons), but they're also extremely valuable outside of their combat role. So it always ends up being a strong 'it depends' on if it's a good idea.

P: 14 + 39= 53- Saint Lin's Faith blazes from him, pushing back the darkness and inspiring followers of the Emperor.
How does Saint Lin have only 53 Piety? Saints have 50 or more Piety by default (it's what he gets instead of a Paragon trait) and he got more than 3 extra points of Piety since becoming one. With the current math, he would only have reached 50 Piety long after becoming a Saint, which can't be right.

Why are peopls talking about Lin in combat, that's the last thing we want. The moment he gets exposed is the moment he gets swamped by teleporting terminators and Angylls.

unfortunately it's not a case of if Lin gets into combat but when. we just have to hope the defences put into place for him are enough to help him survive and hopefully come out of it with a new trait or two
