A good point on the Hellguard Champion that raises this question
@Durin from reading Alchiles sheet it seems to imply Berserkers are not a new thing on Avernus. If so how common are they and how is the trait viewed?
2. Is there any way for Avernite Berserkers to manage and control thier rages?
3. How does our military use those who have Berserking tendencies?
4. Are some of our Champions Berserkers? It seems like a very useful Trait for that role.
5. What is the average Combat of a Hellguard Champion?
6. What are Champions like personally?
1. they are pretty rare, think one in a million soldiers or so, on other words there are only a few hundred and it is viewed as a very bad trait, though any beserker officers are respected as you have to be very good to reach officer with that flaw
2. not rearly
3. as champions mostly, whoever it is rare enough that there is no standard procedure
4. see above
5. mid 30s
6. what are people like, way to broad a question, there are several million champions on Avernus, far to many for such a generalization to mean anything
@Durin
1. How open to the public are the Muspelhiem archives? Are they willing to let anyone into them, can people like Tranth or the Biologis request information on discoveries and the like easily?
2. As far as Imperial history goes how far outside of the Asgard subsector does their knowledge go? Important events they probably know about, but what about X battle in X subsector somewhere in obsucus in M37?
1. there are layers of access, much is pubic, much is restricted and an unknown amount is very restricted, and the Mechanicus can request information easily
2. there is a lot of information from elsewhere that is classified as unverified (ie taken from someone elses archives often millennia after the event) and a decent amount that is classified as verified (mostly first hand accounts from travelers)

Omake - Achilles "The Boisterous" Waters

'Life is painful' Khol always thought to herself as Avernus continued to try and kill her, her family, and her few friends. But now that He is joining the ranks that she fought for so long she now feels that life is downright insidious. She can't wait to rest in peace and join the Emperor's Side. At the very least she could get away from the walking military disaster that is Marshall Achillies Waters.

"Sammy GIRL! How long has it been?" Marshall Waters enunciated grandly behind him his posse of Veteran Champions that he keeps in close distance looking embarrassed as always.

"Alive," she replied trying to sound as uninteresting as ever. It never worked in the Academy but she thought 'maybe now it'll work? Please, Emperor let it work?'. It didn't work.

"Sammy you got stop being such a one trick pony? Haven't you gotten any new hobbies after graduating?

I mean look at me? I have plenty of hobbies now. Kicking it with the Governor who called me "Mr. Watters", Having the Alpha Chicks in my apartment, a Mega 'Bod' from the Gym, and a nice sword arm for when I need to go to work on the wildlife. Ya gotta be more like me Sam."

"Achilles you've always done that. You regularly fornicated in the Academy..even with our Gym Teacher. You haven't changed in 200 years either." she partially whined.

But he just shrugs it off as if it doesn't count.

"Naaaaah." he replies "I got loads of stuff. Like getting these new ranks." as he points to them. "Took awhile what with everyone being afraid of my Alpha-Ness. Yep! Pretty soon I'll be running things like Ole Man Drago."

She sighed mentally. It was going to be a long life for Khol now that Waters was going to be present in the meetings.
pretty good with one issue. Khol is seven years older then Archilles and had left the Acedemy before he joined

@Durin
1. Do we have access to detailed Catachan Jungle Warrior information? Do Muspelheim (Age of Strife and DAoT) have information on the Hy Brazil Troops (Dracos) so we could use the two together to try again on the Avernus Rangers Grenadier Corps?

Good information them, we could base the Avernus Ranger on the Phase Tigers, as a way to emulate Catachan Jungle Fighters.
Not really the point.

The jungle fighters are light infantry, scouts harassers and assassins if needed, but they're not rangers.

As far as I understand it the point of the ranger regiments was to exploit the Avernus wildlife and provide dedicated guides and explorers to our current regions. Frankly we're probably better off asking Sir Pellinore what the best set up is.

Another thing is that jungle warfare protocols are not exactly useful in some of Avernus' regions, Elysium or Aridia for example

specialized on each Avernus region.
you have no idea how happy I am right now.

the first time that I had read the Grenadiers I believed that would give us soldiers with focus with stealth (the jungle), group and tank combat (the dinosaur land), desert fight and etc. It is far more difficult than that it seens. It a shame since I would like to make groups that the soldiers of each region would like and say 'oh, this is how we fight' because not every soldier of ours is 'gut enough' to be a shonen hero or a phase tiger.

Still if we survive I really would like to see we having people in most of the regions (bar forbidden land and etc), and having sub-cultures in each that give us people that can survive and grow in each place, I believe that this already happen but still we have a lot of people moving from places,

Avernite Rangers – Avernite Wilderness New
Avernite Rangers – Avernite Wilderness Warriors.

General Richards looked on the failed plan to form the Avernite warriors, and the actual breakdown of that plan.

After much work she found that your intended plan for them is too broad, asking them to be both wildlife experts, elite light infantry and bodyguards. While this may be possible on other worlds the sheer variety of wildlife on Avernus makes the required skills to extensive to combine, at least for any but the most experienced of soldiers. Given that the majority of the soldiers experienced enough to fulfil your planned role are the Phase-Tigers you will probably have to lower your expectations.

With this in mind General Richards thought on building a literal corps of warriors that would drain from the other military branches of Avernus Military and even the Admech Magos Biologis. The plan would be simple, the literal template would use the Phase Tigers training of stealth, irregular warfare and survival based on the use of flora, fauna and topography, and from there would be necessary the institution of brigades specialized on each of Avernus Biomes and regions.

After the actual specialization of each brigade, all the aforementioned knowledge would be passed back to the Avernus Military and even the Biologis of Admech, easing the works of the Admech and the PDF.

The doctrine would have as actual basis the teaching of living inside aforementioned biome, the capacity of hunting in the aforementioned biome, hiding and moving trough the biome with ease, and this training would be open to the other military personel of Avernus and even the civilians (Militia).

Another part of the training would be based on the engagement of enemies on the biomes, like attacks from the flora and fauna, criminal of all kind and even the Orks, Trolls, and Rogue Sirens.

EDIT: A little drunk so bear withe the errors, any commentary would be useful to better this omake will be credited and considered.

To be honest? We're already kinda busy for a few turns to get crabs + power armor + bionics online and I think those happen to be much better for the Trust than defensive units designed to only really operate on Avernus.

The [biome] Rangers sound like they would be great against invaders, but really, something we should only research in peacetime, not crunchtime.

*Look at the Catachan Jungle Warrior*
Catachan were a specialized troops that were famous empire wide because their "basic" training could be applied to various situations.

And units designed to only really operate in Avernus is better than getting our forces equipped in power armor, walker killers or bionics how exactly? I didn't care during the vote because it was just a cheap action, but biome rangers are far too inflexible for me to want to spend actions on it when we have the AM to spend for more efficient things.

How about this then
1. What is the average Melee Champion like?
2. The average Sniper Champion?
3. The average Heavy Weapons Champion?
4. The average Rifle Champion?
Yeah I know there will be a lot of varation but some common traits should appear you can group under as something that occurs a lot in that category at least in basic aspects they share.
