The Long Founding (Warhammer 40k)

I had an excellent idea for the Imperial fists chapter, a great library on snow world with marksmen/snipers channelling spirit of White Death to defend the library.

[] Plan: So, how about the snow-covered library
-[ ] The Great Library: The Inquisition has recently come across a vast archive of ancient knowledge. They obviously want it preserved and guarded as thoroughly as possible, but they do not wish to store it near important planets such as Terra just in case (you shudder at the memory of the utter disaster the Hereteks unleashed when they let out all of the horrors stored under the surface of Mars, you STILL haven't got all of the things they let out). Hence, you.
-[ ] More Hunters: This chapter has additional examples of the Hunter heavy anti-aircraft vehicle. 5 Points
-[ ] Potent Gene-Seed Charge: Some samples of a Legion's Gene-Seed are more likely to retain their stronger traits, and you have isolated such samples. 5 Points for each charge. Burn a charge to make the chapter roll for two traits from their parent legion.
-[ ] Adaptive Gene-Seed: Some samples of Gene-seed are more capable of adapting to different conditions on different planets. 5 Points each charge. Burn a charge to roll an extra planetary trait.
-[ ] Legendary Gene-Seed: The finest Gene-Seed ever recovered from a given Legion. 15 Points per charge, Burn a Charge to add a Legion's legendary traits to the roll list for that round.
-[ ] Latch Boots: A superior counterpart to the regular mag-boots in Power Armour, these fascinating devices gives the Chapter's armor the ability to 'stick' itself onto any surface at will - letting the Astartes of the chapter fight on vertical surfaces, or even while upside down. 10 Points.

I've come up with a small amount of plans.

[ ] The well trained.

-[ ] Secondary Gene-Seed (Thousand Sons): The key component for creating Chimeric Gene-Seed. You're honestly surprised Guilliman approved of this one - then again, you did hear him grumbling about some idiots who were suggesting mixing Night Lord and World Eater templates, so maybe he just wanted to make the concept your problem before somebody did something completely moronic. 25 Points for one charge, choose 1 legion to be the donor for the secondary Gene-Seed. Burn 1 charge and traits from the donor chapter are added for a roll, or a separate charge of potent gene-seed can be spent for a separate roll on the donor legion's trait list as well as an acquisition of the secondary legions 'base' traits.
-[ ] Extra Trainers: With some extra effort and yelling at a few more bureaucrats, you ought to be able to arrange things so the new Chapter is able to get in some extra specialized training before proper deployment. 15 Points. Burn 1 charge to get an extra training option.

-[ ] Extra Land Raiders: The Chapter is able to acquire more Land Raiders than normal, allowing them to more freely deploy the mighty IFV against their enemies. 10 Points per charge.
-[ ] More Terminators: This Chapter has more sets of Terminator Armor than normal, meaning more of their veterans can use the famed heavy assault suits. 10 Points per charge.
-[ ] More Equipment: You've managed to secure extra equipment for a Chapter. 10 Points. Burn 1 charge to add an extra equipment slot for the Chapter.
-[ ] Lightning Pattern Power Armor: A very powerful piece of technology from Forge World Vhalkem, the Lightning Pattern is extremely powerful, though it can only be produced in enough numbers for deployment by a single Chapter . You will still need to handle smoothing things out between Vhalkem and the Forge World providing the rest of the Chapter's equipment, however - they don't get the free pass Murphius does. 10 Points.

[ ] Look I've run out of names by this point

[X] Plan: Sons Of Alexandria
-[x] The Great Library: The Inquisition has recently come across a vast archive of ancient knowledge. Hence, you.
Goals: The next chapter will gain the 'Ancient Knowledge' perk for free.
-[x] Traitor Legion Geneseed: If you wish, you could gain access to the gene-seed of the Traitor Legions. Each will have its benefits and costs, but all of them will have their gene-fathers concealed for practical reasons - little point creating a Chapter only for them to be wiped out by some overly paranoid fool. Write in a traitor legion. 10 Points for each time this is taken.(Thousand Sons)
-[x] Extra Trainers: With some extra effort and yelling at a few more bureaucrats, you ought to be able to arrange things so the new Chapter is able to get in some extra specialized training before proper deployment. 15 Points. Burn 1 charge to get an extra training option.
-[x] Legendary Gene-Seed: The finest Gene-Seed ever recovered from a given Legion. 15 Points per charge, Burn a Charge to add a Legion's legendary traits to the roll list for that round.
I feel like this would be the perfect for the Nerd Psykers.

Nothing? Seriously, why would things go wrong? You can enjoy, for example, eating good food without going Slaaneshi. One of fundamental aspects of Mechanicus is search and gathering of knowledge but for some reason not every single Tech-priest in the Galaxy become Tzeentch corrupted.

Being interested in learning and spreading knowledge is rather a good trait to have.

...I guess something for Thousand Sons chapter...or Death Guard.
>Death Guard.
>Anything to do with knowledge and nerdiness.

What...

[] Plan: Redemption Squad.
-[] Do as you will: You will not be taking any requests at this time.
-[] Traitor Legion Geneseed: If you wish, you could gain access to the gene-seed of the Traitor Legions. --[] Emperor's Children.

--[] Night Lords.

Guys, we can finally buy every Traitor Legion that remains. It will be much better to do the library request with Thousand Sons Chapter that didn't have to waste points on just being Thousand Sons and could have easily buy everything they need, from Legendary charge to Potent and Extra Training. It will be a very good, long term investment.

Less ''hog'' version of the previous plan, also buys charges for later Chapters.

1. Your plan formatting as you forgot to put "-" anywhere
2. Us already buying word bearers
Profilozof...The plan work, Somnia didn't buy Word Bearers...

Death Guard is pretty good at defending, and they were quite good with math, so they were nerds or well mortarion was
Since when? Death Guard were specialists at chemical warfare. They didn't care about casualities, they just used whatever they could to destroy everything on battlefield that was hostile to them, be it biological, rad weapons or chemicals.

Also, Mortarion was good at math, perhaps, I don't know, due to that little detail of being superhuman able to think better and faster than most beings in the entire fucking Galaxy. Also he was educated by his ex-human sadistic, adoptive, sorcerer father in all manner of things.

No offence, but this just feels forced and once more makes no distinction between Primarch and Space Marines. Astartes didn't even mindlessly see Primarchs as father figures, Luna Wolves just as often if not more, called and seen Horus as ''the commander''. The sons thing is very much cultural part of the Marines identity and again, Marines can have this thing called personality and be different from one another. Not every Smurf is actually good leader and bureaucrat like Big G is.

I believe they where actually more resilient not defensive, which to be fair if we where to mix them with Iron Warriors or Imperial Fists might actually be scary.
That's literally what I'm talking about. They never defended shit. Neither during nor after The Crusade. They were always the guys who's solution to problems was to kill everything no matter what. Those were guys who after being done, left entire planets being nothing more than radioactive, toxic wastelands. They were able to survive using weapons that literally shoot concentrated radiation. Everyone else? Not so much nor did Death Guard care.

Yes, mixing them with Iron Warrior and Fists could be scary considering the natural traits of all three Legions but Death Guard unto themselves are literally opposite of defensive warfare. Might as well choose White Scars or Raven Guard for defense and just train them in Siege Warfare, fuck, I can actually think of thematic reasons for Scars and Ravens defending knowledge, far more than fitting than Death Guard.
