The Long Founding (Warhammer 40k)

Does anyone have an idea for a name? I would personally like to go for something based on the Synopticon for which we are creating the chapter, like the "Hidden Compendium" or something

Edit:

What about taking Librarians (to take advantage of planet's trait) and Specialist Ammo (for rest of The Chapter)?

I wouldn't be against it, but keep in mind that this would be the second time we would be taking this commbination.
It's Kind of funny actually because i also wanted to recommend an Eye as the chapter Symbol

Keep in mind they are counter infiltrators, not infiltrators themselves, only use for scout training would be as 'what the enemy might do'. im thinking either Librarian for reading minds or Chaplains for anti chaos

Personally I feel counter Int who can read minds during interrogations is too good to pass
Incorrect.
The Synoticon in the Imperiums conventional intelligence agency, and one that gathers quite a bit of information. They want a chapter made that can act on their intelligence now that the Assassinorum has become more and more preoccupied with doing the Inquisitions dirty work.
The chapter we are making are to be a replacement for the Assassinorum. Counter intel is good but not our primary responsibility. Acting on intel is our responsibility. So sabotage, assassination, etc.

as counter intelligence I like the idea of a name that has the word mirror in it, Black Mirror, Mirror Shield, Mirror Force ect ect

Going to be a hypocrite. So I argued for why scouts are invaluable to do their job as well as possible.

But there's one other thing here. We want them to be a check on the Inquisition right? I think one of the keys is to make sure that they're straightforward, sane, and accounted for. Especially since they're going to be running conspiracies up to and likely including the nature of their gene seed.

I feel like Chaplains are extremely useful to help keep everything above board here.

Edit: I know it may not be the best choice, but I think it's at least worthy of consideration.

Okay with all of that given and the Chaplians being a thing....

[ ] Librarians: The Chapters Librarians are particularly well trained and have far greater resistance to the temptations of the warp.
[ ] Blademasters: The Chapters Marines have honed their skills with the blade and are among the finest swordsmen in the Imperium.
[ ] Marksmen: Even among Space Marines the marksmanship of the Chapter is top of the line.
[ ] Chaplains: The chapter has more and higher quality Chaplains than average among its numbers.
[ ] Scout Training: The Chapters Marines are given more advanced training in the art of scouting and as a result more of its Marines remain as dedicated scouts even after being promoted from the rank of Scout Marine proper.

I think its in our best interest for one of these. Librarians as said before would pair very well with the Biomancy they got from their homeworld, the Chaplains are more for trying to make sure this chapter does NOT fuck around and turn traitor again trading performance boost for the training for safety net, I think Blademasters might be overfocusing and overspecializing on it but maybe worth it, while Marksmen would give them the ranged option and paired well with Specialist ammo as we really can't give any good equipment here for them. Scout Marines would be helpful in their job to gather intelligence or staying on their toes with it.

Yah on second thought the homeworld trait this chapter got was MELEE MASTERY and they are trained/mastered 'all forms of close ranged combat' including swords, so yah Blademasters are just to make them have a claim to fame to have the bestest Space Marines Swordmaster, I don't think we should got Blademaster.

[ ] Specialist Ammo: The Chapter has a ready source of specialized bolter rounds letting them bring the best possible ammunition for any engagement.
[ ] Extra Thunderhawks: The Chapter has access to additional Thunderhawks.
Honestly not much here, I do think specialists ammo would be good even if they didn't get marksmen training because you don't NEED a gun to use ammo. Take a look at IED or Vietnam traps using bullet. Just have an Incendiary and slip it into a box, gift, vehicle, or the like. I think that would be the best use of equipment.

Thunder hawks for moving Marines but even then It pales in comparison of the ammo.

I'm not sure what you mean here. Minus who killing targets? The brief is explicitly to be a replacement for what the Assassinorum used to do for the Synopticon. So we need to more or less be the field agents for an intelligence service. One of the primary uses of the chapter should be assassination.
Not really...okay, maybe. It really depends if we go for Imperium targets or enemies of Imperium like Chaos and Xenos.

I would like to make it very clear that the way the situation is described, these guys wont be an actual chapter

They will be the militant arm of the Synopticon calling themselves a chapter

That means we won't really need scout marines for their conventinal purpose, scouting, because the intellegence gathering side of this arrangement would have already taken care of that

That isn't to say we shouldn't take scouts, their still good for stealth kills, but i want everyone to keep in mind that (in this specific curcumstance), so are Marksmen and Libarians

Chaplains would be fun, but we would then need to direct our chapter in either a "Who watches the watcher" or a "All according to God's the Emperor's Plan" direction for that to really make sense

How does this look to the people, seemed Scouts and Specialist Ammo was the main things i saw being highly considered. And while arguments could be said on Librarians, i think putting more emphasis on Scouts might be a better call as they are the ones with Sniper rifles.

As for the name, i saw the Mirror comment and thought, Mirrors reflecting both their status as sons of Alpharius and the concept of revealing false things with working with the Inquisition.

The Synopticon is the primarily a signal intelligence and internal intelligence agency, but they don't want a Chapter that replaces them; they want a Chapter to go out and act on their orders. If they can be more integrated partners even better, but primarily they should be used as operatives to achieve goals; assassination, sabotage, infiltration, etc.

For the record, here's the option we chose. They specifically ask for a chapter that can do the dirty work for them (though I doubt they'll be upset if they're also counter intel experts)

For name maybe something like Silencers? Or we could give them a name like Torchbearers and give them the whole 'dispelling darkness' bit. If we're feeling really devious we could give them a name like 'The Dark Consuls' thereby aping a common Ultramarines successor naming convention and implying a link there.

Silence should be obvious. The daggers are also to mark their melee mastery and them being stealth focused.
