The Long Founding (Warhammer 40k)

Sent? No. Volunteer for, yes. They also stubbornly refuse to call out their superiors' stupid orders and they specialize in attrition warfare.
Kreige somehow managed to be so utterly wasteful with their own lives that the Imperium has assign commissars to their regiments to keep them from killing themselves too early.

They kill themselves so fast even the Imperium thinks they are too eager to do it, and this the same Imperium that promotes a guy for making a bridge out of the corpses of his own soldiers.

And the Death Korp kill themselves too fast for the Imperium.

Let that sink in for a while.

Grimm considers it wasteful for a very good reason.

Grimm would legit be considering a massive radical if he wasn't content to just hold in his misgivings and silently seethe instead since he was raised on Mars so a lot of the stuff he hates he just learned to deal with.

For one thing he is definitely not a believer in the whole 'The Flesh is weak' bit of dogma and he low key despises the Iron Hands for not only spreading it but for purposefully wasting the augmentations they were given (That were developed at quite a cost in human life at that) in favor of cybernetics that are in all honestly not all that much better... or they are better at all than the standard Space Marine biology.

He also hates, hates, hates Servitors with a burning passion. Like many Genetors he believes in the idea that organic life is a machine in it's own right, that the human body is a machine in it's own right. To turn someone into a Servitor? It is a grave insult and a massive waste.... as are the conditions in hive cities. In fact he stuff like Servitors it so much he actually has a chip in his brain that makes sure he never gets used to the idea of things like Servitors and that he will always dislike them.

It is actually one of the reasons his mood is bad enough for his 'Grimm' title because he's an Admech Archmagos that (Secretly) hates Servitors.

Kinda ruins a persons mood.

So we're an extremely talented geneticist with a chip in our brain creating supersoldiers for a regime we despise? Is anyone else thinking 'Order 66'?

Even putting the meme aside if there's going to be any kind of meta-plot to this quest beyond the episodic nature of Chapter creation I feel like there's a very interesting long-term political hand to be played here planting influential seeds all over the Imperium. If Grimm bothers to keep in touch with the Chapters or build influence among the patrons they please a bloc of several chapters in the right place could influence matters significantly.

The Kriegers are a fascinating example where the hyper exaggerated WW1 meme fanon version of them is actually more competent and sensible than the canon death-seeking lemmings GW wrote. I feel like the GW version kind of works on a human level though. Life as a Krieger is just so bad wouldn't you want it to end sooner rather than later? I don't think brutalized, brainwashed and self-loathing clones should make very good soldiers tbh.

Good enough for their style of warfare and heavy attrition, I whole heartly believe that Krieg are exemplars of the Imperium strategy of "Drown the enemy in our guns and bodies" which in any other case would be seen as a waste as soldiers and equipment, but Krieg has the bodies and make their own equipment to at least kill some things before they die.

Edit: this is still not a good thing/ even that interesting to me. Much more intrested in other Guard regiments like the Tallarn

Obligatory remindment, that "having mind-manipulating/controlling nanochips in their brains" is in-character for Alpha Legion *points at "Big Brother" Alpharius Plan*

Because he likely considers their entire mode of war to be wasteful.
You've also got to remember that travel in 40k is so infamously unsafe that even from a practical standpoint the Death Korps are horrible why spend all that time on having a bunch of Kreig Gaurdsmen moved over when you can get a regiment that can do things other than dying?

And thats without actually caring for human life added in.

[X] Playing with the dark
-[X] OP-4: The Assassinorum wants a chapter of Space Marines to practice against… they have vowed to not actually kill them all and render your work pointless… how kind of them.
Goal: Create an anti-stealth Chapter.
-[X] Traitor Legion Geneseed: If you wish you could gain access to the gene-seed of the traitor legions, each will have its ups and downs but all of them will have their gene-fathers concealed for practical reasons. Write in a traitor legion. 10 Points for each time this is taken.
-[X] Extra Assault Bikes: The Chapter has access to more Assault Bikes than average. 5 Points.
-[X] Adaptive Gene-Seed: Some samples of Gene-seed are more capable of adapting to different conditions on different planets. 5 Points each charge. Burn a charge to roll an extra planetary trait.

(half-joke)
Do you think that Cawl gonna send us "cease and desist" order, if we call this new Chapter "Dark Vipers"?
