The Long Founding (Warhammer 40k)

We're banking on combining the two genelines to get magic dragon astartes.
I still think it's a horrifically bad idea to put the two most mutation-prone genelines together to create a monstrous mongrel Chapter. The only reason I'm not more against it is the fact that this is a direct order from the Big E and thus will likely have him directly intervene in our favor should the need arise.

[X] Plan: Draconic Wizards V2

I just want to make sure that, that the plan with The Thousand Sons wins.
I still think it's a horrifically bad idea to put the two most mutation-prone genelines together to create a monstrous mongrel Chapter.
Ehh. I really don't see it. Again, we want them put on Emperor's Landing, obviously having them on planet, saturated with Emperor's psychic echo will influence them. And again, not all mutations are negative.

We don't have guaranty that we will get only positive mutations, but still the fact remains not all mutations will leave them hindered mentally or physically, and it just as likely that every mutation will be purely superficial and will just leave them looking funny, or as far as Imperium is concerned hideous and abominable, and beside, mutations wouldn't be the only traits they get, they also likely will get great Psyker potential from Magnus and crafting abilities from Vulkan. Very useful considering they will get special technology to keep.

Not gonna lie, I believe Iron Hands will be more perfect for psy tech stuff with Thousand Sons as the primary gene-seed.

This reminds me that Perturabo worked with psytech.

  • [x] Plan: Draconic Wizards V2
-[X] ???: Your next Chapter is to be from the lineage of the Thousand Sons, and will be entrusted with the {REDACTED} technology upon their completion.
-[x] Potent Gene-Seed Charge: Some samples of a chapter's gene-seed are more likely to retain their stronger traits, and you have isolated such samples. 5 Points for each charge. Burn a charge to make the chapter roll for two traits from their parent legion.
-[x] Secondary Gene-Seed (Insert Legion Name): The key component for creating Chimeric Gene-Seed. You're honestly surprised Guiliman approved of this one - then again, you did hear him grumbling about some idiots who were suggesting mixing Night Lord and World Eater templates, so maybe he just wanted to make the concept your problem before somebody did something completely moronic. 25 Points for one charge, choose 1 legion to be the donor for the secondary Gene-Seed. Burn 1 charge and traits from the donor chapter are added for a roll, or a separate charge of potent gene-seed can be spent for a separate roll on the donor legion's trait list as well as an acquisition of the secondary legions 'base' traits.
    --[X] Salamanders.
-[x] Extra Trainers: With some extra effort and yelling at a few more bureaucrats, you ought to be able to arrange things so the new Chapter is able to get in some extra specialised training before proper deployment. 5 Points. Burn 1 charge to get an extra training option. 2x
[X] Plan: Can we drop (4 legion/planet traits, and 2 items/skills) traits on a White Scars Chapter?
-[X] Retrieval: You are to develop a Chapter specialized towards finding and protecting the {EXTRA REDACTED}, due to their personal importance to the Emperor Himself.
-[X] Potent Gene-Seed Charge: Some samples of a chapter's gene-seed are more likely to retain their stronger traits, and you have isolated such samples. 5 Points for each charge. Burn a charge to make the chapter roll for two traits from their parent legion. (x2)
-[X] Adaptive Gene-Seed: Some samples of Gene-seed are more capable of adapting to different conditions on different planets. 5 Points each charge. Burn a charge to roll an extra planetary trait.
-[X] Legendary Gene-Seed: The finest Gene-Seed ever recovered from a given legion. 15 Points per charge, Burn a Charge to add a legion's legendary traits to the roll list for that round.
-[X] More Equipment: You've managed to secure extra equipment for a chapter. 5 Points. Burn 1 charge to add an extra equipment slot for the chapter.
-[X] Extra trainers: With some extra effort and yelling at a few more bureaucrats, you ought to be able to arrange things so the new Chapter is able to get in some extra specialised training before proper deployment. 5 Points. Burn 1 charge to get an extra training option.

Write in a traitor legion. 10 Points for each time this is taken.

-[X] Latch Boots: A superior counterpart to the regular mag-boots in Power Armour, these fascinating devices gives the Chapter's armor the ability to 'stick' itself onto any surface at will - letting the Astartes of the chapter fight on vertical surfaces, or even while upside down. 10 Points.

So if I understand correctly people want to give important tech to the chapter that is likely to be very mutated in the Imperium which is known for being very anti-mutant

I think they want to go very cool, which is kinda ironic coming from me, someone who wanted that combination BUT NOT WITH THAT REQUEST! I was bloody thinking Bird Hunting on Scottish Homeworld to maximise the possible results. This needs either Iron Hands or Iron Warriors and I believe would quicker use former than latter for this.

If the black dragons can exist and not get purged I don't see why these guys would. Especially when their creation was mandated by the emperor himself though the custodes.

If the black dragons can exist and not get purged I don't see why these guys would. Especially when their creation was mandated by the emperor himself though the custodes.
Exactly. People forget that Imperium was built on hypocrisy. Emperor supported purges against Psykers and generally didn't allow Psykers to use their abilities, at the same time, he himself was a Psyker, and used Navigators and Astropaths for interstellar travel and communication and many organisations within Imperium used "powerful enough" Psykers do to their shady business.
In addition to this invaluable beacon among the stars, the Imperium would not have been made possible without the creation and continuation of the Astra Telepathica. This special corps of inter-stellar communicators was created by the Emperor during the final months of the conquest of Terra, as the Emperor had foreseen their absolute future need.

For the most part the Emperor did not favour the use of psychic talents in others, as a psyker himself, albeit one of unprecedented power and control, he was well aware of the dangers inherent with contact with the Warp. Furthermore the Age of Strife on Old Earth had its own 'witch-kings' and possessed psykers to attest to those dangers, some of whom the Emperor had personally slain. However, he was able to identify those strong enough and so with some prudence certain psykers were employed in a variety of special roles in the Imperium, and the astropaths were to be such and exception.

The paradox of the psyker was that while a pressing danger to humanity, their presence in one form or another was utterly vital and inherent to the pursuit of the Great Crusade. On a practical level this was embodied by the Emperor and, most widely and vitally, by the bloodlines of the Navigators who facilitate long-range Warp travel and the Astropaths that make interstellar communication possible.

The rarest and most powerful found themselves in the employ of other, more secret, Imperial organisations whose shroud of mystery still holds fast.

It means jack shit that they extremely mutated, as long as they do their job well. The real problem with the plan, is that people assumed too much, including myself, and either wanted to game the system hoping that we will get only positive mutations or just wanted "Muh DrAgOnS" for the sake of rule of cool. Very few people even thought about the fact that Salamanders are also good at tech and crafting, like, Vulkan was a literal blacksmith, Ferrus and in turn Iron Hands didn't have any immunity that made them the only Marines allowed to do anything with technology. Perturabo was also a genius at creating machinery and devices.
