Well shoot, that was fast.

[X] Plan On a Roll (We Build This City; We Built This City; We Built This City on Dead Kaiju)
-[X] Upgrade Communications to 2 (1000 Resources) (Honestly, it's about time we upgrade this)
-[X] Upgrade Scanners to 2 (1000 Resources) (Likewise, especially with our current resources. Especially with what we keep running into)
-[X] Upgrade Research to 4 (2000 Resources) (And while we're at it...)
-[X] Build 4 Anti-Kaiju Missile Gunboats (2000 Resources) (As much as I'd prefer waiting and researching them to have modular weapons, probably better if we build these sooner rather than later)
-[X] Go Kaiju hunting - Go Hunt down Reikon
-[X] (Action held in reserve till after Reikon Fight)

(6000 Spent, 500 Remains)

This is going to become a running gag, isn't it?
Not if The Commodore has anything to say about it...

It wasn't going to be, but it is now.

You've brought this upon yourselves, you realize.

I can't think of any serious reasons to run counter to Jawa's plan. I really want that Dexterity bump for better parrying, but our infrastructure is pretty weak right now, and another Kaiju Kill probably isn't a terrible plan.

[X] Plan On A Roll

Could we start banking like, 10% of our resources from kills (unless we immediately need it), to build up toward starting on Explicit Tengu?

[X] Plan On A Roll

Side thought - how viable would it be, rather than trying to get a range stat for Tacit, to try to take advantage of dexterity and built Tacit giant anti-Kaiju grenades to carry into battle to use as a 'ranged weapon'?

Could we start banking like, 10% of our resources from kills (unless we immediately need it), to build up toward starting on Explicit Tengu?

It's not an impossibility, but I'm not sure if it's a viable plan long-term, especially since odds are we'll want a second Jaeger well before said plan actually get us a new Jaeger.

I also do not accept the idea of "Explicit Tengu" as the name of our next Jaeger.

for research, can we go straight to attaching railguns to helicopters, or do we need to build up to that?
I'll just say that a railgun will probably obliterate the helicopter that's firing it with the recoil, at the sizes you'd be able to make them. They'll be 120mm at minimum. Think tank or navy, not helicopter.

You could probably set up some sort of bank, or you could just try to remind people that no, you can't have that. That's for TR!suka's giant robot!

That... that is actually a very good idea. And not a hard one to research, either! Yes, grenades are a viable weapon for Tacit, and you could carry... let's say twice as many as you have Dex before it gets encumbering. SO four grenades, max. And these would be... what, the size of a tank?

What percentage would you suggest then?

Well duh, that was just the first placeholder name I thought of. Personally, I want to keep with the "Something Ronin" scheme for our Jeagers.
Although, if we ever do get pressurized air/vacuum cannons, I wouldn't mind a "Something Tengu".

Boo-yah!

I say we go for it!

Would it be necessary to carry them all by hand or would it be very difficult to set them up so they can be held on a 'grenade belt' or what have you and held in hand as necessary when ready to be thrown?

I'm not sure it's percentage that's a problem. We're going to want a second Jaeger, that's for sure, but I think we're going to need to think outside the box beyond "save and get one eventually" to get it. It certainly wouldn't hurt to save some and set it aside, but it's going to take more than just that. To my knowledge, any other Jaeger quest that's actually gotten a second Jaeger (and I could be wrong, but

I'm not sure that just going "Something Ronin" is a viable naming scheme. At the very least, it doesn't fit with the theme of not usually doubling up on name elements from Jaeger to Jaeger. We could try using "Ninja" or "Samurai" if we wanted to keep the same naming thematics without reusing "Ronin".

What about 'Lewd Calamari'?

More seriously, even though both of our pilot pairs are better at melee, we probably should think about getting a ranged-capable Jaeger next. Because we got VERY LUCKY with Bastion. Maybe some kind of a railgun longrifle, with a magnetic-propelled pilebunker bayonet?

You cut off a bit.

That works too.

Yeah, sorry. Mind drifted or something.

To my knowledge, any other Jaeger quest that's actually gotten a second Jaeger (and I could be wrong, but I think only Cherno's pulled it off) wound up getting the means to do so through other means, like finding a windfall resource cache somewhere or the run-down remains of another Jaeger as a fixer-upper project.

A range Jaeger to compliment our current Close Quarters Jaeger would be the smart way to go.

I got an idea for a name. How about Valiant Ronin? Less of a mouhful than Explicit, I think.

Well, didn't the quest start with a big 'ol expedition to Oblivion Bay (lovely name that, makes me think of sunshine and daisies) to find a Jeager? Maybe we could try that again?

We can give it 8 guns and call it Platinum Orochi!

I picked Explicit because it's the antonym of Tacit.

Eh? Nah, that's a technique...
I was actually thinking about Tadakatsu Honda's daughter. I've been playing a lot of Samurai Warriors 4 Empires, and she's one of the characters. Unlike her father, who is extremely aggressive in battle(dude once picked up a piece of the enemy castle and brought it all the way back to my castle to make our walls bigger!), she uses the bow and is ranged based. Not sure how historically accurate the game is, but either way it was a thought.

where would you fit 8 guns on a humanoid Jeager though... two on the shoulders, two on the arms, can probably anchor two more to the hips...
Maybe the last two vertical along the spine, as mortar launchers to the other's rifles and machine guns?

Honestly, The Commodore isn't too picky about names all things considered.

I'd mull it over, but this quest moves too fast for that and I'd rather that continue anyways.

To stick with samurai thing, we could try to create a kind of bow that launches energy beams, or really strong javelin things.

We built our own Jaeger in HB Quest eventually. Certainly helped that we looted a UN Jaeger's corpse via lucky rolls and salvaged Tacit Ronin's wreck from a Cat V's trashpile prior to that.

I do find the idea of Jaeger Grenades to be a cool one. Gotta be more shipping-container sized though, since we saw Gypsy using them as knuckle-dusters against Leatherback and she was holding several (crunched together) in each hand.

I do wonder how that would work mechanically. Would we still have to use Ranged to boost throwing accuracy, or would we sub in Dex since it's a thrown weapon and not shot?

My idea for a more conventional ranged weapon was modular chest-mounted weapon racks. Hellfire+ for surface action, could switch them to Torpedoes for underwater battles on the fly instead of needing an entire action to replace the weapons. Leave Railguns for a Range-focused Jaeger, or as upgraded guns for ships/bigger tanks.
