The idea was: When building something in Subset X out of all the things we can make, may discard old pieces of armor & equipment to reduce the cost of the thing by Y. X and Y being completely up to the GM of course.

You are right in that it's possibly more roundabout than needed.

I want that Hammer badly, but for the moment I want to focus on consolidating things more.
Barrier shield tech, though, could be applied to a wide number of unit and such, and is more usable immediately.
It's worth looking into "safer" Plasmacasters; that seems at least somewhat more viable than a notable range increase (they seem a lot like the "shotguns" of the DEW selection in PR-verse).

Does anyone have a problem going ahead with my idea? We could fold it in with our Free Comms Action to Medford. For those who don't recall, I wanted to pass along our Type 1 Jaeger research to Medford so they can salvage from Oblivion Bay.

I guess it couldn't hurt, but the problem there is Medford has none of the infrastructure needed to rebuild and operate a Jaeger, and building a Shatterdome takes time and loads of money.

True. If I was to copy one tech from your plan between Conn-Pod pilot protection, Plasmacaster range or Plasmacaster Overheat protection, which would you prefer?

To that point about spending a lot of work on something we won't be using for a while, who are you planning to put the Plasmacaster on if we make some after the research?

Yea, but if it's a monstrous 2-hander then it's probably too heavy for the fast-clamps to work right, which is a huge tactical advantage.

Can weapons have a min stat requirement to be used? Because if our hammer comes out with one of those and JH can't use it... well, bugger.

In general, my real big hope in the short term is that if we can really make plasmacaster tech safer and give it real range, we can then downsize it and give our conventionals nifty plasma tech to shoot at Kaiju with. Plasma Tanks, Plasma mortars, Plasma-shooting choppers, plasma artillery, etc.

If I had to choose, I'd probably put priority on Conn-Pod protection.

EDIT: Updated my plan to include sending Medford the Mk I Jaeger info.

I really don't know. I think it may be the insane Electricity resilience-- but I honestly don't know what I'd do about it, or replace it with, or whatever. It might have something to do with the bit where Augs aren't supposed to have direct influences on AV or stuff... I really don't know.

Well, we got it mostly to help deal with Stuns from Electric damage. Perhaps focus it more in that direction?

Except the way I've taken Stuns, you don't really need protection from them as long as you're at Range. They don't stop you from doing anything except Reacting here-- but perhaps that's the problem. Stuns do so little here, that some of the best protection is simply being hit at a distance, rather than melee.

I... I still don't know.
