[X] Allow Secondary Involvement.

We don't need more military forces. What we do need are volunteers willing to help carry the load, yeah. As things stand, we already have more dudes than we can reasonably provide spacelift for

This was not them going All In, this was a disgraced commander getting geared up for a penitent crusade. Enough forces to probably win, not enough to threaten the core.
Fair enough. But I think the priority should be on denying them intel on how we fight, how big our fleet is, etc.

These next few planets shouldn't have astropathic choirs, right?

They should be very tight on Astropaths by now. We're deep into Nihilus and the Astropath pipeline is very hungry for lives--a pipeline that's been severed for centuries by now. By now, they should be basically down to only critical locations still having Choirs.

would be funny if we just took all their astropaths now would it?

But that can be fixed soon enough if we pump out more Tauruses, and the thing is we don't exactly need more people to help carry the load, we aren't exactly lacking in manpower.

I really think people are over-exaggerating how green a Yeeni SAG would be, since it's not like half of our other SAGs have seen combat and we will be training them to prepare them as best we can, and I even have volunteers able to join up and lend their experience to the SAG. While this isn't the only path for them to become Kin, this is something they want to do and I believe they can contribute a great deal. We just need to give them the chance and 3 generations is long enough for them to be able to join up in our armed forces.

I mean...

How do I describe it.

It Feels skeevy to me, you know? I don't want to start the precedent of "Military Service alone governs recognition as Kin".

Secondary I think, good enough to let them feel like they're Halping, but not actually throwing them into the meat grinder yet. We'll see how that works out first before we get into the weeds of things.
going back to this, the Kil'drabi didn't have to go through something similar. They were hardly a part of our armed forces other than as an auxiliary navy but as soon as we got them to Kin they were allowed to join as infantry without having to go through this song and dance of having to serve secondary involvement first.

And really, there's no downside to forming another SAG, it's something that will happen for free without an action and if we still think they aren't "ready" yet, we can keep them in reserve "just in case".

And I also don't want it so military service alone determines recognition. But the thing is they very much want to help us fight. And I don't think it's just b/c they want to be Kin but b/c they want to help and seek justice for the atrocities inflicted on them. With everything we've seen from them, I trust them to handle themselves and eventually they will be a part of our armed forces anyway unless you want to mandate that we can't make SAGs out of Protectorates, which would leave less developed Xenos like the Yeeni with less avenues to contribute and earn their place as Kin compared to more advanced Xenos like the Kil'drabi who were space-faring and could build decent enough naval ships to help. And like others have said, there's not many better first enemies to fight against than a splinter from the Imperium that likely doesn't have any of the special infantry like Space Marines or Sisters of Battle.

Question, what are the advantages of Warp-Skimming and the disadvantages?
Warp skimming is significantly safer than the proper Warp travel like the Imperium does since if you do it right the ship will never actually enter the Warp proper and thus won't be affected much by the detriments of the Warp. Significantly safer against daemons and other Warp phenomena.

In exchange, you are a LOT slower than proper Warp travel. And if you do it wrong you might get dropped into the Warp proper instead of 'skimming' the boundary between the Warp and reality and will get fucked by the perils of the Warp.
