I say deny or tertiary at most. The Yeeni are freshly ascended from being children in of the galaxy. Asking them to fight is too much too soon in my opinion.

God that's overpowered. "We auto-crit pass morale checks whenever called on"

At least Chaos didn't get to feast off of this, but the time has come to push back. At least we bagged their commander. Disappointed that her reaction to being caught dead to rights and given a chance to stand down was "Fuck you, execute everyone who accepts and make them spend slightly more ammunition."

I hate that this spite is both successful for them, and also never apparently fails for them. But I guess the Imperium wouldn't be a behemoth if they didn't have some cheats of their own. "We auto-pass Morale checks at no meaningful cost whenever they're called on" is just... Ow. That doesn't work unless you have total control of the scenario (Like in Void Battles), but it's still a nasty thing that I'm glad we learned about before we got stuck in.
"turn best 2 out of 3 into worst 2 out of 3" is actually a pretty bad cost, so could you stop pissing your pants for once?

We only sent the offer to surrender when there were only 4 ships left.

Hm, maybe I should have put in something in my plan to offer the chance to surrender before the battle started. But oh well.

Yeah, I missed that part when I did my initial gutfeel post, thanks for bringing it up, that makes it actually a really damn nasty cost.

And they reacted to that by trying to suicide charge us, and got cut to pieces--at that point, there was zero chance of survival, and the odds of even doing damage was minimal. I guess Tanya doesn't get a happy ending when there's no plot armor enforcing her personal hell.

Kind of terrifying that despite having overwhelming strike craft superiority though, we still took more losses in this one battle than we did the entire Ork War to our strike craft. I guess that's what happens when you fight things with an actual PD net.

Basically the perk was a "This is a suicide run into the jaws of death" moment. A poor man's idea of a glorious last stand. Also yeah either tertiary or deny. I admire the willingness to fight but it would be too early. Military command and control needs to fluid and integrating things mid war is a challenge in the best of times

Once per battle. And they have to roll 3d6, drop Highest after that. Not really something I'd call "Overpowered."
It's the opposite. They are asking if they can fight.

Yeah, I noticed that on my re-read of things, right around the same time that people started piling on with that :p

In my defense, I'm very anxious and my initial read tends to be maximum pessimistic. And I tend to do my immediate gutfeel reaction immediately after I'm done reading before I put actual thought into things :)

For the Yeeni matter, I'm leaning toward the Tertiary posting. The Yeeni are still working through the various shocks from contact with the Federation after all. Best to work them up slowly. Plus it gives them a chance to experience working on proper Warp ships (military transport or otherwise).

Holy crap we dunked on them.

And these fuckers quite literally didn't know what hit em, fucking Lamenters coming in front with the Steel Chair. And our ambush forces coming in from behind with an RKO!!!!

Anywho, now is definitely the time to attack, we've fought them back and now is the time to push forward while they're reeling.

As for the Yeeni I'm all for letting them fight alongside us, it's only fair we let them take some shots against the Imperium for all the crap they've pulled.

On the other hand, the Yeeni will have to face war in the 42nd Millenium eventually. And a war where we just took the advantage against normal enemies is probably better than a Tyranid or Chaos incursion.

Give them a taste of what they are actually asking for, and we have good MREs so it shouldn't be that bad. Marrow should be fairly simple to package and preserve.

Edit: Also, it's been 60 years since first contact with them. That's almost an entire Yeeni lifetime. There probably remain very few who remember life before joining us.

[] Allow Secondary Involvement.

I think that this is the way to go. It gives them some experience and frees up others to fight on the front lines without throwing them straight into the meat-grinder. It also lets them get a taste of it without drowning in it...

Well, that went exceptionally well. Time to start the counterstrike I believe. Brotar should be open pickings for us now, and then we can start working our way down one of the arms.

I'd prefer 3rd line roles for the Yeen, but I wouldn't overly object to second line. I feel like letting them get out into the wider Federation on the Merchant Marine, where they are still doing good work but are in a less pressured situation, would help with the process of aclimitizing them to the wider galaxy.

That's part of the reason why the Imperium uses Commissars. Even faced with such overwhelming odds, they keep to their duty and murder anyone who even looks like they're thinking of fleeing. Now as for what to do, I think we should let the Yeeni join us. They've been friendly and pretty eager, and this will set them on the path to being Kin.

Also, one thing I realized is that since it seems like there was no one who escaped, our secret might be safe as to our Corvettes and Carrier capabilities.

2 (1,1,1) - Away Or Through? - RUN! RUN! RUN! THROUGH!
Neon Uses: [Coward's Due] - Replace Morale Check with 12 (6,6). Roll 3d6, drop highest for the rest of the battle.
12 (3,1,3,5) vs 5 (3,3,2) - Pierce The Throat - Neon Gets Mauled
12 (2,5,5) vs 2 (1,1,4) - Rip It Out - Catastrophic Neon Losses
7 (5,2) vs 8 (3,6,5) - Mercy For Those Who Give None? - Ruthlessness Is Mercy Upon Ourselves
Yeah, Coward's Due is... ouch.
Bad cost.
OccasionRollsinterpreted with Cowards Dueinterpreted without Cowards DueOur value
Pierce The Throat(3,3,2)3+2=53+3=612
Rip It Out(1,1,4)1+1=21+4=512
Mercy For Those Who Give None?(3,6,5)3+5=85+6=117

Mercy could have been won without Cowards Due.
Pierce the Throat would have remained a loss, probably no difference.
Rip it out... 2 vs 12 or 5 vs 12, would still have been a loss, but might have been a less severe loss.

Hm, would there be an option to integrate Yeeni volunteers into already existing units to help them acclimatize or is that too complicated logistically and organisationally to realistically pull off?
