[X] Request Authorized for all worlds but "Looty Place", which shall be fought for.
-[X] But just in case anyone is actually still alive down there, on approach, send some signals -- vox and anything our folks can come up with -- to give any survivors a chance to send word to us for an extraction. You have strength enough between your own forces and the Lamenters to run an ad hoc evacuation, especially with Celestial Choir support. It's not likely, but there's always a chance, and we would not denyit8t

Yeah, I'm going to vote not to stick our dick in the meatgrinder. maybe if we had a more built up and capable ground force it would be worthwhile, but as is we are so not ready for that kind of fight. A centuries long campaign against a dug in foe to me sounds like the kind of folly that ends with either stat de-buffs or having to drop the rocks anyways only after millions have died.

-[X] Request Authorized
--[X] Send Vox Messages, and any other tricks our people can come up with while preparations are under way however, to see if we can identify and extract any survivors from the Ork Occupation. It's a long shot, but it's worth risking if we can save anyone still. Star-Child preserve them and their memories for what we must do.

On the one hand, the new information dropped in by HeroCooky does make me less hostile to the idea of fighting a conventional plan on at least one world--and if we had to do one, the Looty Place is the one (It's a system away from the border, it hasn't been settled quite as long, and it's more valuable to begin with).

On the other hand, I really don't want to give the impression that the arguments I recieved after I started getting ready for bed last night were what convinced me, like that shit about "It'll cost FOURTY AP" when it was already proven otherwise long before. And I can't help but feel that's exactly what'll happen if I allow myself to change my vote.

Still

If there's actually experience to be gained, fighting over One planet can be countenanced. I wasn't willing to consider it just for the possibility of a mystery box of loot. But if we can actually learn something from it... Yes, the balance now does tilt where it's something I can stomach.

Still irritates me though, especially like "If you vote to bomb now you'll do it Every time!" bullshit, and the bad faith nonsense with the "It'll cost FOURTY AP". (Grumble mumble), But I can suck it up and bend if there's a good reason for it, and the new information is enough.

You are missing the vox caveat in your vote

'anything our folks can come up with' - Maybe have the choir do a search with their power?

How much would the Kil'drabi enjoy a post-improvised-Exterminatus frozen world, considering their like for the frozen moon?
They have barely 50 million pops, they've just barely reached the point where you would consider Frozen Moon colonized. Give it a few centuries before they start looking for potential places to settle again.
Because it is 42M, is Rowboat Gorrillaman awake now? If yes does that mean we can innovate a bit?
He's been awake for nearly three centuries by now, busy getting some of that Eldussy fixing the Imperium.

And you don't even have research unlocked yet. Your innovation is literally restricted to rifling through your STCs and poking them with a 10-meter mechadendrite to see if you can change a bolt to a nut.

I'm not sure what depresses me more, the fact that that's pathetic, or that we're Still leagues better than everyone else even with that.

Guh, I really want to get our other Infs up to scratch before the next disaster falls on us.

Hey! STCs show their products via perfect molecular placements, even just getting that nut was the hard-earned result of hundreds of hours of vigorous work and self-application! Show some respect!

Now that I've had some time to cool off and sleep it off, I want to say sorry for some of my behavior yesterday. While I did earnestly believe in the 40 AP shit due to my ideas of how the quest would be and misreading some stuff, The "If you vote to bomb now you'll do it Every time!" thing I admit was too far and more me just being as immature and petty as Perturabo. It was up to me to make my case and I failed in our arguments until the QM spoon fed me points, some of which I should have come up with myself admittedly. I'm sorry for letting things get as toxic as they did, and despite our disagreements, I do respect you and think this quest is made all the better with you in it than without, and I'll try to not get so angry in the future.

Thank you for the apology, I should have shown a bit more courtesy myself. We're all trying to work together here.

its nice to see people resolve an argument without it snowballing to a threadban

I'd like to think I'm generally pretty reasonable? I might argue hard when I feel strongly about something, but I'm not immune to counter-arguments. I wasn't fundamentally Against a ground war so much as I was against wasting lives for nothing. If this is actually something we can use as an exercise to enhance our experience in the long run though, where a bit of extra material is a Bonus rather than the point, the balance tilts in our favor.
