So if we fail badly enough on Aether rolls we will become the next Malefor?
At this point you would need a chain of natural 1s. It's not very likely at all and there will be ways out of it.So if we fail badly enough on Aether rolls we will become the next Malefor?

I will not end this quest if that happens though. It would just... shift a little bit. I should warn you all, that I like fall from grace and corruption stories. Not likely to happen to Spyro himself, just be prepared to see that theme elsewhere in the quest.
Ooh, now I'm intrigued. Quick everyone! Use your omake bonuses to turn Spyro into Malefor! At this point you would need a chain of natural 1s. It's not very likely at all and there will be ways out of it.

Being an expert in two elements requires more training progress than mastering one, so that might be a little much for someone who has a handicap from being elementally stunted...Zap would be a Water Expert, but I'm unsure of his Electricity Rank. Is him being an Electricity Expert as well acceptable?
Skilled is much more realistic. Being Expert in two elements when you are not a purple dragon takes a long time as they interfere with each other.Okay, "Electric Rain" actually sounds terrifying and I love it. Which reminds me... I know Zap would be a Water Expert, but I'm unsure of his Electricity Rank.
Is him being an Electricity Expert as well acceptable? Would justify him being able to perform potent Electricity + Water moves, and even how he could create a brand new Element (which I'm mostly just seeing as Liquid Lightning).
More for curiosity's sake, but are Element Users able to tap into their exotic facets regardless of Rank- and it is just Master & Higher where one could achieve anything meaningful?
Cause I'm thinking Zap uses his Electricity Element to exert finer control of his Water Element. Thus despite being Expert Rank, he can manage faster/stronger/tougher Water moves by using Electricity's ability to manipulate objects.
I like it! Keep in mind though that trying to fight powerful Smoke manipulators with Fire's smoke will not end well unless there is a sizeable difference in skill.
I see nothing wrong here...Ooh, now I'm intrigued. Quick everyone! Use your omake bonuses to turn Spyro into Malefor!
Whoops. You missed the threadmark and instead threadmarked the comment below the omake xD
It wouldn't just be a bad roll that causes something like that. There'll be choices involved too. Just be aware that playing with aether is how Malefor got corrupted.Just for the record, I don't want to be an evil Spyro, even if we got a nat 1 on an aether roll, because IMO really bad things should happen because the players screwed up or didn't prepare enough for something, not because we got a really bad roll.
Just my personal opinion, but I think that pairing them by element would make the entire action pointless. The Guardians are grandmasters of their elements, if there's a danger they can't defend themselves against, it's unlikely that another dragon of the same element could protect them, however atypical their techniques are.are the Guards being intentionally paired with their matching Guardian, or is it more about personality & capability
Expert rank with a specialization in dreams sounds more reasonable. Basically master-level in dreams and illusions and novice-skilled in everything else.@Nianque: So the Fear Guard (Nim?) is my next omake, though I wanted to go over the basic premise first. I was thinking she's a chance encounter for Dawn, with Dawn having came across her family while traveling.
Specifically, Dawn takes note of how they're all Wind Dragons except for Nim. It is her questioning of Nim's Element that results in Nim demonstrating her abilities as a "Dream" Dragon.
I figure Nim is the second-youngest of the Guards, so I was thinking her regular interaction with Blackout allowed her to develop her abilities earlier than normal.
Though more importantly, I wanted to know what skill level would be reasonable. Being Master Rank and learned alongside Blackout (who similarly is oblivious he can cause fear), I imagined Nim being unusually skilled at the exotic stuff- with the trade-off her being unusually bad at normal Fear stuff for her rank.
Mainly though, my ideas for her demonstrating her abilities involve her crafting "daydreams" (illusions), so knowing how far I can go with that is really helpful.
Oh right, regarding Dyno & Inferni: I wanted to know if you have any particular plans for them? Like, are the Guards being intentionally paired with their matching Guardian, or is it more about personality & capability?
Hmm, a different question on the guards and Guardians, but could we have all of them start picking apprentices? Considering the time it takes to train new ones having what would effectively be spares sounds like a good idea, and they would likely double as guards even if that wasn't their primary purpose. Besides, it'd likely work to get us an extra set of master tier dragons in the future for deployment if needed.Mmm... It depends on the situation. If the Guardian in question is visiting their nexus, then the only one who can safely join them is the guard of that element. On the other hand Nachtigall has the right of it that the Guardians will be doing vastly different things which will effect it as well. They'll probably spend most of their time with the Guardian of the same element and picking up quite a few tricks from the Guardian in question. At least until something is happening then they would switch it up. All of the guards will be familiar with all of the Guardians pretty much.
Not right now. Of the Guardians only Cyril and Volteer are actually at the point where they can take apprentices. The others are just too new and still figuring things out. There will however be an action to bring back the whole 'Dragon Temple raising eggs' thing. Before the war the Guardians were pretty much just monks who studied their element and helped take care of the numerous eggs and acolytes that called the temple home. Now that the last of the New Guardians are finishing their training soon, Pyra and Cyril have been pushing for a return to that system. Of course the downside of it is that a successful raid on the temple is disasterous as you have a dozen+ eggs all in one spot. This is part of the reason why Gaul's raid was such a big deal. a dozen eggs were smashed and most of the acolytes and apprentices who called the temple home were slaughtered. The survivors of that raid were pretty much just Ignitus, Pyra, Cyril, Volteer, and Terrador along with maybe one or two more.Hmm, a different question on the guards and Guardians, but could we have all of them start picking apprentices? Honestly just getting master tier dragons faster for use wherever sounds pretty good, especially since pretty much by definition they'd be ones likely to remain both good and loyal in the future and could be trusted with the power(as they wouldn't be trained otherwise.)
Nice.Turmoil in Reliquia: The councilors of our fair city seem to have almost came to blows this year. Nobody seems sure of the exact reason for why it happened, but rumors say that Councillors Incindous and Galvan were injured. Councilor Taiga seemed more pleased than usual, while Councilor Gaia was merely exasperated. None of the Councillors seem keen on sharing the details of what the argument was about, but it seems safe to assume that whatever it was, Councilor Taiga was the winner. It is unsure whether or not this is related to the flurry of reforms that now grip the city as the councilors begin emulating Warfang with the construction of a school. Many are unsure about doing away with the tried and true apprenticeship program and more than once Councilor Taiga has had to explain the possible benefits of this decision.
Reward: +1 Realm education.
So what would be the benefit for doing this? Not right now. Of the Guardians only Cyril and Volteer are actually at the point where they can take apprentices. A bonus toward element-based research from all the acolytes. Orphans being taken in.
Nim is going to find Warfang interesting...
