Ship of Fools: A Taylor Varga Omake (Complete)

I think the biggest problem is there is no one that Doctor Doom really respects enough to mediate between them. Or would have to have enough overwhelming cosmic power to force them to listen to each other.
Canonically, Doom actually does respect Spider Man. Problem is, Spiderman doesn't like Doom. No idea how many times that has been retconned, of course.

maybe Galactus could be persuaded o take an interest in the Richards-Doom issue...
Maybe Galactus's daughter instead? She already likes earth more than her dear old dad after all and she can eat the annoying scientists/sorcerers if they get out of line so she'd fit right in with The Family. :V

Wait, Galactus has a daughter now?! I thought he was One of a Kind due to having been a scientist in the previous universe who decided to study the universe's inevitable collapse, and got reborn during the next Big Bang as Galactus?!

The only person I remember Doom ever having genuine respect for other than his mother was Captain America; in one of those alternate future storylines after Earth was invaded by aliens and Cap got deaded, Doom threw the shield into space out of respect for the Captain's skills.

I think I can sort of see him having a degree of respect for Spiderman under the right circumstances; Peter Parker is a genius, a genuinely good person who tries to do the right thing and also someone who gets constantly and relentlessly shat upon by life, the universe and everything. Thanks to his arrogance, Doom likes to imagine that his plans always end up going sideways because the universe hates him, so I can understand Doom seeing a sort of reflection of himself in Peter Parker. I don't recall that ever happening mind you, but it does sort of make sense.

Wait...

How and why did that come about? (I can totally see why Spidey doesn't really care for Dommy Doc Doom, so that's not in question.)
Google "spider man saves Dr doom". https://comicnewbies.files.wordpres...saves-doctor-doom-10-e1560771383195.jpg?w=620
There may be some other stuff too, but can't remember the details, so nevermind that. The whole story is here:

Spider-Man And Captain America Saves Doctor Doom

Captain America and Spider-Man saves Doctor Doom from freedom fighters trying to assassinate him in an airport. I can’t wait to see if Spider-Man ever cashes in that favor with Doctor Doom. F…

By this point in his carrier, I suspect most if not all of the superhumans on Marvel's version of Earth Respect Spider Man. They may not all LIKE him, but with his history of ethical behavior and the responsible use of power he shows, along with his proven effectiveness, they will certainly Respect him...

like Spiderman or not, anyone that can physically beat down one of Galactus' Heralds while they hold the Power Cosmic is worthy of respect. (Amazing Spider-man 269-270)

Although, I would love to see Squirrel Girl (Marvel comic Canon) and Canon Skitter team up. :)

FYI, I've been overseas for a few weeks. Managed to get the previous chapter out, but the next won't really be started until I'm back in the U.S. this week.

The last technological universe was the Stargate universe. Between the Nox, the Asgard and the Tok'ra, Dragon and Bahamut hadn't felt the need to have a permanent AI presence, as they already had direct access to almost everything. "Now let's talk briefly about the Stargate universe. The Family have cleared out the most powerful of the Goa'uld, leaving the Free Jaffa and the Lucian Alliance as the major powers using inherited Goa'uld technology. Earth is rapidly modernizing with help from the Asgard, and they've started creating a network of trade and defense alliances throughout the galaxy. Most of the world powers have taken the windfall of aid from the Asgard as an impetus to modernize, and some of the harsher regimes have even begun to moderate their repression. The exception appears to be North Korea, which I estimate is about four months from total collapse. The Chinese have already been subtly questioning the Asgard about their assistance for when that happens," said Dragon.

"What about the Wraith?" asked Bahamut. The vampire-like aliens would be a major threat if they were able to make their way to the Milky Way/Avalon Galaxy.

Dragon grinned. "The Asgard have found great sport in hunting down Wraith. At first, they were simply wiping them out while they searched for the Vanir. The ship captains now have an under-the-table competition to see how many wraith ships they can destroy. Baldur appears to be in the lead right now with fifteen hive ships and forty-three cruisers. Earth has sent an expedition to Atlantis with the help of the Asgard, but the Wraith are apparently so frantic due to the Asgard that the Earth expedition hasn't even encountered them."

"Did they find the Vanir?" asked Asti.

"There have been a few sightings. Thor believes they'll have them nailed down within the next few weeks, based on the amount of the galaxy they've already searched and the evidence found," replied Dragon. "So, are there any other topics for discussion?" She looked around the table.
I noticed that there was never any mention of the Asuran replicators. That would have been something that the Asgard would have wanted dealt with ASAP.

Quick Update: FYI, jet-lag from a 13 hour time difference is a bitca.

I've also been going through the story again and making notes of side references and deferrals to make sure I don't miss anything for which I intended to return in text. Just as an example, back in Chapter 19, I mentioned that Wormhole X-treme exists in the Buffy universe. That's something our friendly neighborhood SG-1 android duplicates would want to check, at a minimum. (I'm not saying I'm going to hit that in the next chapter -- just mentioning it as an example of a dangling thread that I intended at the time to at least address in some fashion in the future.) So, slight more delay apart from the time zone impact.

It's even more fun when traveling from Asia back to the US...if you think about it, you are in two different places at once at the same time...

I think South Korea to the East Coast of the US counts as Asia to the US...so yeah. Come back on Saturday and had work first thing Monday. Fun.

I've had this image in my head for a while now of Peter heading back to Miles' universe to check up on him, and since Spider-Man seemed a little short on backup in that universe, giving Miles a Famtech phone so he can call for help if he needs it, plus a healing symbiote and a bottle of squeakers for emergencies...and true to Spider-Luck, Jefferson walks around the corner at the exact worst possible moment, to see a faintly schlubby-looking middle-aged white guy handing his teenage son a bottle of pills.

Miles: O_O

Peter: O_O "...uh...this isn't...quite...what it looks like."

Jefferson: "Really."
