Exams 4.16
"Hey, guys. What're you hanging around here for?" Hisana asked, having slipped ahead of Gaara. He was perhaps thirty seconds away at a slow walking pace, and she didn't want to start the invasion early. She was wearing her sunglasses, her red eyes hidden behind the dark glass.
"Nothing. Beat it, kid," the larger of the two said.
"I suppose you two were really that dumb..." Hisana said, and sent out a probe of chakra through her eyes. Both men collapsed to the floor like puppets who'd had their strings cut. Hisana dashed forwards, picking them up. She looked around, saw no one nearby, and headed to the closest bathroom. Figuring it was safe enough, she dumped the two men in a stall and dashed away.
She managed to avoid Gaara, and arrived in time to see Hinata's fight. Naruto was sitting on the railing, looking down with an odd look on his face.
"Excited to watch this fight in particular, are you?" Hisana asked him. Naruto jumped so high she was almost worried, before he landed on the rails like it was nothing.
"Don't scare me like that, sis! Anyway, yeah. Hinata's pretty cool, we talked a bit during the month we were all training," he replied, at which Sasuke raised an eyebrow.
Hinata and Tenten stood opposite one another for a few seconds - short for the civilians in the audience, but almost an eternity in ninja terms. Hinata blurred forward, just as Tenten leapt backwards. Her leap was low to the ground, and she threw a barrage of kunai at her opponent. Hinata's hands moved in a blur, and for just a moment the chakra she was emitting from them hardened, the pale lavender energy suddenly becoming an utterly sharp cutting edge. Not only did Hinata deflect each kunai, but she cut them to pieces with a tiny, trailing string of chakra.
Hisana grinned, and then she frowned. Hinata and Tenten continued to chase each other across the arena, but neither was moving particuarly fast. Tenten wasn't throwing any serious ordinance, nor was she opening up her scrolls. Hinata wasn't trying for the Sixty Four Palms, either - she was land open palm strikes that made impressive lightshows, but not much else. It was a good act, and if she hadn't been a sensor and possessed a dojutsu, she wouldn't have seen it - but they were faking it. This wasn't anywhere close to either girl's best, and then Hisana realised what they must have been ordered to do; and she grinned.
Kakashi hadn't ordered Team Seven to do it because he didn't want Naruto to hold back, she realised. That match was going to be for real, and a quick victory over Gaara could change the course of the battle. Kakashi must have trusted her and Sasuke to recognise what was going on, and to keep it to themselves.
Tenten finally pulled out a scroll, one of her smaller ones, and unleashed it. A rain of metal shot at Hinata, and she began to move her hands so fast even Hisana had trouble following. By the time the first kunai had reached her, she'd already constructed her protective latticework of chakra threads. The rain of metal exploded upon contact, showering everywhere Hinata wasn't in shrapnel. Tenten managed an Oscar worthy look of surprise before HInata was there with a glowing hand above her heart. The match was called, and Naruto shouted his congradulations down.
"Well, that's my match now..." Karin said.
"What, afraid of Lee are you?" Hisana said, smirking.
"You shut your mouth or you'll be hanging out with Konoha's Red Beast in no time at all," Karin replied, before jumping down to the arena floor. Lee walked over to the other side of the arena, with a smile that Hisana could see was a little pained. It was only for a moment, though, and then he was all smiles again.
When the proctor said go, Lee took an unorthodox move. He kicked his leg weights at Karin, one after the other, the impossibly heavy slabs of metal rushing through the air at deadly speeds. It was a race between her chain and Lee's weights, one that her chain thankfully won. It deflected the first weight into the side of the arena, where it made a crater in the wall and kicked up massive amounts of dust. The second weight, she managed to send back at Lee as he closed. Hisana grinned as she saw him speed up to something like his proper speed, within the dust cloud, to sidestep the weight.
Neither genin could see within the dust, but they soon blurred out of it. Karin whipped her chain around, whilst Lee did a matrix-esque dodge to avoid it. Lee jumped up to dodge the next strike, landing on the chain and running down it to launch a kick at Karin's face.
"A youthful effort, Karin, but you are no match for the power of my Youth!" Lee shouted as Karin dropped the chain and flipped backwards to avoid Lee's kick.
Soon enough, though, Karin went down to a few pulled punches, and the match was called. Shikamaru destroyed the sand genin he was facing in about ten seconds, barely even moving before the match was over; and Hisana found herself bored stiff at Sasuke vs Shino.
She wasn't feeling very bored after the announcer called for the next match. This was it - this fight was where the invasion would begin. As Naruto walked down the wall of the stadium, and Garra floated down on his sand, Hisana readied herself. She had her seal fully charged, her sword sharp, enough supplies to fight a small war single handedly, her new ejecting storage arrays on her hands, and a new technique...
Choose one trait for making it to A Rank Chakra Control. Note that these may pop up again as trait choices, depending on which skills you raise.
[x] Sealing Art: Chakra Burst Network. This network of extremely thin seals, corresponding to your muscles, allows the use of explosive bursts of chakra for physical enhancement. Each precisely controlled burst of chakra gives the user a burst of strength, acting like an early version of Tsunade's Chakra Enhanced Strength. Though inferior to beginning-of-part-two Sakura's usage of the technique, it can be improved.
[x] Chakra Cables. You are now able to anchor your chakra threads to objects, and pull on them. Pulling on objects heavier than you will result in you being pulled forward. The cable can support your weight, and the ability to use it to push could be developed.
[x] Sealing Art: Reactive Chakra Armour. This technique uses a network of small seals that are able to emit hardened chakra. A seal, or a number of seals, may be activated to block an incoming blow. Chakra costs prevent constant usage, as do current sealing methodologies.
