So I was thinking about how to make Hisana faster.

Where getting to the point where the biggest issue she's going to face is going to be air resistance, so I thought of a way to deal with that. A shell of Wind-Natured chakra!

We'll put her at the center of the pair of grinding edges of wind chakra so they'll cut the air in front of her, and she won't have to deal with drag. It also has the secondary effect of cutting whatever/whoever is in front her her in half/fourths/whatever.

Sort of like a bladed drill or something?

I was under the impression that the usual ninja training plan is for Genins to be generalists with solid all across bases, and only begin to specialize once they hit Chunin, rather than make specilised soldiers that only later fill in their weaknesses.
In canon pretty much all specialized techniques and gated for Chunins at the very least (including advanced clan jutsu when you are a clan heir that already has his endgame specialization planed!).

Was air resistance ever shown to hamper Ninja in any way? I was under the impression that chakra bullshit made moving through the air at mach velocities kind of trivial. I mean, Lee and Gai's clothing doesn't catch fire from the air resistance when they go 8 gates, or when the Raikage -who is able to keep pace with literal teleportation- isn't singing hairs or having trouble breathing or having the blood rush to the back of his head because fluid mechanics in Naruto are apparently bullshit.

If high speed movement worked any way like it does in real life then all special jounin and up would have to learn some kind of jutsu or something to keep their blood from pooling at the opposite end of their acceleration. That this doesn't happen means that either their world doesn't work the way ours does or their chakra does a lot of the heavy lifting when it comes to blood flow.

Technically speaking. Naruto skill levels are a bit wonky. Acadamy students get the basics, while Genin get team training and work with their sensei to find their specialization. Chunin learn to be commanders outright and generally have a few gimmicks and specialties. Special Jonin is the end point of where Chunin ends, they reach the peak of their specialization, Jonin rank at that one skill and that's generally as far as they go. Jonin, counter to the previous three ranks, are the high end all rounders. Granted they have specializations but the rest of their skills must be near or at Jonin level to become Jonin otherwise they'd be special Jonin.

On top of all this, each level must show competency in leadership that matches their level as Ninja rank isn't just how powerful they are but how well they are at commanding the rank and file.

High end Jonin and Kage level ninja on the other hand usually fall into two different groups, those that overspecialize to such a degree that their specialty sorta breaks logic, or so broadly generalized that they have an answer to every problem that goes well beyond "Hit it with X"

Gai and Konan are a good example of the former while Hiruzen and Orochimaru are a good example of the latter.

Exams 4.16

"Hey, guys. What're you hanging around here for?" Hisana asked, having slipped ahead of Gaara. He was perhaps thirty seconds away at a slow walking pace, and she didn't want to start the invasion early. She was wearing her sunglasses, her red eyes hidden behind the dark glass.

"Nothing. Beat it, kid," the larger of the two said.

"I suppose you two were really that dumb..." Hisana said, and sent out a probe of chakra through her eyes. Both men collapsed to the floor like puppets who'd had their strings cut. Hisana dashed forwards, picking them up. She looked around, saw no one nearby, and headed to the closest bathroom. Figuring it was safe enough, she dumped the two men in a stall and dashed away.

She managed to avoid Gaara, and arrived in time to see Hinata's fight. Naruto was sitting on the railing, looking down with an odd look on his face.

"Excited to watch this fight in particular, are you?" Hisana asked him. Naruto jumped so high she was almost worried, before he landed on the rails like it was nothing.

"Don't scare me like that, sis! Anyway, yeah. Hinata's pretty cool, we talked a bit during the month we were all training," he replied, at which Sasuke raised an eyebrow.

Hinata and Tenten stood opposite one another for a few seconds - short for the civilians in the audience, but almost an eternity in ninja terms. Hinata blurred forward, just as Tenten leapt backwards. Her leap was low to the ground, and she threw a barrage of kunai at her opponent. Hinata's hands moved in a blur, and for just a moment the chakra she was emitting from them hardened, the pale lavender energy suddenly becoming an utterly sharp cutting edge. Not only did Hinata deflect each kunai, but she cut them to pieces with a tiny, trailing string of chakra.

Hisana grinned, and then she frowned. Hinata and Tenten continued to chase each other across the arena, but neither was moving particuarly fast. Tenten wasn't throwing any serious ordinance, nor was she opening up her scrolls. Hinata wasn't trying for the Sixty Four Palms, either - she was land open palm strikes that made impressive lightshows, but not much else. It was a good act, and if she hadn't been a sensor and possessed a dojutsu, she wouldn't have seen it - but they were faking it. This wasn't anywhere close to either girl's best, and then Hisana realised what they must have been ordered to do; and she grinned.

Kakashi hadn't ordered Team Seven to do it because he didn't want Naruto to hold back, she realised. That match was going to be for real, and a quick victory over Gaara could change the course of the battle. Kakashi must have trusted her and Sasuke to recognise what was going on, and to keep it to themselves.

Tenten finally pulled out a scroll, one of her smaller ones, and unleashed it. A rain of metal shot at Hinata, and she began to move her hands so fast even Hisana had trouble following. By the time the first kunai had reached her, she'd already constructed her protective latticework of chakra threads. The rain of metal exploded upon contact, showering everywhere Hinata wasn't in shrapnel. Tenten managed an Oscar worthy look of surprise before HInata was there with a glowing hand above her heart. The match was called, and Naruto shouted his congradulations down.

"Well, that's my match now..." Karin said.

"What, afraid of Lee are you?" Hisana said, smirking.

"You shut your mouth or you'll be hanging out with Konoha's Red Beast in no time at all," Karin replied, before jumping down to the arena floor. Lee walked over to the other side of the arena, with a smile that Hisana could see was a little pained. It was only for a moment, though, and then he was all smiles again.

When the proctor said go, Lee took an unorthodox move. He kicked his leg weights at Karin, one after the other, the impossibly heavy slabs of metal rushing through the air at deadly speeds. It was a race between her chain and Lee's weights, one that her chain thankfully won. It deflected the first weight into the side of the arena, where it made a crater in the wall and kicked up massive amounts of dust. The second weight, she managed to send back at Lee as he closed. Hisana grinned as she saw him speed up to something like his proper speed, within the dust cloud, to sidestep the weight.

Neither genin could see within the dust, but they soon blurred out of it. Karin whipped her chain around, whilst Lee did a matrix-esque dodge to avoid it. Lee jumped up to dodge the next strike, landing on the chain and running down it to launch a kick at Karin's face.

"A youthful effort, Karin, but you are no match for the power of my Youth!" Lee shouted as Karin dropped the chain and flipped backwards to avoid Lee's kick.

Soon enough, though, Karin went down to a few pulled punches, and the match was called. Shikamaru destroyed the sand genin he was facing in about ten seconds, barely even moving before the match was over; and Hisana found herself bored stiff at Sasuke vs Shino.

She wasn't feeling very bored after the announcer called for the next match. This was it - this fight was where the invasion would begin. As Naruto walked down the wall of the stadium, and Garra floated down on his sand, Hisana readied herself. She had her seal fully charged, her sword sharp, enough supplies to fight a small war single handedly, her new ejecting storage arrays on her hands, and a new technique...

Choose one trait for making it to A Rank Chakra Control. Note that these may pop up again as trait choices, depending on which skills you raise.

[x] Sealing Art: Chakra Burst Network. This network of extremely thin seals, corresponding to your muscles, allows the use of explosive bursts of chakra for physical enhancement. Each precisely controlled burst of chakra gives the user a burst of strength, acting like an early version of Tsunade's Chakra Enhanced Strength. Though inferior to beginning-of-part-two Sakura's usage of the technique, it can be improved.

[x] Chakra Cables. You are now able to anchor your chakra threads to objects, and pull on them. Pulling on objects heavier than you will result in you being pulled forward. The cable can support your weight, and the ability to use it to push could be developed.

[x] Sealing Art: Reactive Chakra Armour. This technique uses a network of small seals that are able to emit hardened chakra. A seal, or a number of seals, may be activated to block an incoming blow. Chakra costs prevent constant usage, as do current sealing methodologies.

Okay, first, the fights were satisfying even with them 'throwing' them.

Second, Kohona's Red Beast is hilarious.

Last, Tekooooo those choices are amazing.

So there's a new bit in the character sheet:
  • Ejecting Seals in her hand arrays, filled with rock spikes (3, left hand) and explosive note laden kunai (100, right hand).
This is a logical application of what you have already; but I think it's pretty cool.

[x] Sealing Art: Chakra Burst Network.

Chakra cables are of marginal gain compared to ninja wire and our existing chakra strings. Reactive chakra armor is pretty damn cool but given Hisana's combat style she's far better suited to dodging and I'm not sure how cost effective this would be against high level attacks anyway.

Short bursts of super strength meanwhile offsets Hisana's comparatively low Strength stat. It's also fits quite well with her Iadio since that style is based around singular devastating attacks which is exactly what would benefit from bursts of super strength.

Plus we've already ripped off Tsunade's, well Mito's really, Chakra Storage Seal so why not rip off her super strength while we're at it?

Like it says, discount Tsunade.

NANOMACHINES CHAKRA SON!

What @UberJJK said, basically. We already have A rank speed, can run up walls, and have the Lightning Blood seal. Off-brand web-shooting wouldn't really bring very much to the table in my opinion, and the enhanced strength would let us jump higher and faster anyway. The defence choice could be useful, but we do prefer evasion anyway, plus it wouldn't even protect us from surprise attacks at this point, if I'm reading it correctly. If we meet something we can't cut through just with sharpness the addition of strength could make all the difference, or even if we just get grappled by someone

A few thoughts on the choices.

Considering that even half of beginning-of-part-two Sakura could upend a training ground in a roughly 30 meter radius, us punching through walls of solid concrete or manhandling a upper tier summon exceedingly possible.

This makes up for our physical lacking, at this point in time we're a shrimp without and real true physical strength or leverage and we don't have the time or commitment to do like Lee did. So this is a happy middle ground for now if we want to fill in the glaring weakness of "if our sword gets pinned or otherwise rendered nonviable as a tool then we're kinda fucked"

[x] Chakra Cables. You are now able to anchor your chakra threads to objects, and pull on them. Pulling on objects heavier than you will result in you being pulled forward. The cable can support your weight, and the ability to use it to push could be developed.

I'm getting serious Attack on Titan vibes here. There's not much inherently useful here except that being able to pull ourselves around rather than using less precise bursts of wind to move midair, that we can possibly make 3D movement much easier and possibly more effective as being able to yank other people has some interesting possibilities.

And this is just straight up damage token defenses. Able to mitigate a token of damage like a ablative shield.

Basically our choices boil down to, "hit it harder before it can hit you. Dont't get hit at all. Or, tank shit, we can handle it."

Not really sure what to pick honestly.

[x] Sealing Art: Chakra Burst Network.
I'm really liking this seal based self enhancement theme we have going, it's an awesome style.

None of these really grab me and say 'must get this!' so continuing on with our ability to go Super Uchiha I may as well pick Burst.
[] Sealing Art: Chakra Burst Network.

Her power level, it's over 9000.

Edit:
[x] Sealing Art: Reactive Chakra Armour.

Changed my vote, extra strength while cool can probably be picked up either through leveling strength or stealing Tsunade's stuff.

Additionally extra strength doesn't really make us better in combat but some ablative armor to protect from a sudden attack could be life saving.

The arguments for taking strength are very good, since it has numerous ways it can bolster our current fighting style whilst opening up other opportunities in combat. Plus, it raises us finally into all-rounder jounin territory without the need for XP expenditure.

It has my vote, i'm just holding out to see if other points can be raised.

Edit:
Wait a second, if the chakra strings in this vote are hard physical objects, does that mean they can be developed later on into cutting surfaces using wind chakra? That might make specking there worth it down the line, since it would allow for dozens of remotely controlled chakra garrotes to be fielded.

We can already do that though:
Wind Release: Chakra String. This technique allows the user to create and direct a chakra string of elemental chakra, wind natured in this case. This string is capable of cutting, and being anchored to a seal (applied with a touch). Costs 4 chakra per string

Hmm.

We can already do that though:

The key difference is that our current chakra strings require receptor seals, whereas with this development we could attach them to arbitrary objects.
