CUTE
CUTE

Chris Thorndyke Was a little uneasy as he stared at eggman and his father talking.
Working with eggman just rubbed him the wrong way.

"Hello"

GAHH

Chris quickly turned left and was shocked to see a girl standing next to him with strange red and blue lighting.

"Uh hello in Chris"

"I am sage"

Ohhh this is the ai grandpa mentioned he was honestly expecting something else.
Actually she was kind Of cute.

"Oh uhhh thank you"

Chris realized he had accidentally said that out loud and was about to apologize profusely as he blushed.

"BOY GET AWAY FROM MY DAUGHTER"

chris nearly jumped out of his skin as he quickly turned around and found hims self facing eggman.

"oh i uhhh"

I don't want to hear it SAGE! come here please

sage floats over to eggman and they begin to move away but sage turns around and guves him a little wave goodbye.

chris blushes as he thinks only one thing.

I am so screwed

Honor Between Minds
Honor Between Minds

Chuck would not lie in saying that he was nervous about this state of affairs.

As he quickly attempted to cover his virtual tracks - less for other people online, more in the case that Master Zik attempted to sniff out if he was trying to betray him - the Thorndyke genius reflected that he never expected to ask Eggman, of all people, for help.

If Chris were here, he would likely protest at how things were going, and Chuck wouldn't blame him. They were talking about the man who released at least three different types of evils in the world, once built a moon-sized satellite and blocked the sun to hold the world hostage and was overall a menace for Sonic's world for years.

At the same time, Chuck was also very much aware he would be better than these Zeti that were holding them hostage.

It was such a misfortune how they ended up there. They were working to stop Eggman from going through his latest scheme - something about the kingdom of Murasia? Chuck had so much in his head he couldn't even bother to remember now - and in the next moment, everything went bright and they appeared back into the mansion, only he and his grandson. No signs of any of their employees, not even the ever-loyal and energetic Ella. Their mansion was close to Station Square, but Chris was quick to realize things seemed off...right when the explosions began.

The next days were chaotic. The duo, ever charitable, let a few refugees enter their lands for safety, the mansion now turned into a safe haven. Meanwhile, G.U.N. tried to bring order to the region but was splintered into a combat of many factions trying to claim being the "true" one and it was overall a mess of a faction war with lots of in-fighting and allies turning to enemies.

But things were getting better. Clearer minds prevailed and a united front formed. This "Neo Metal Sonic" fell in battle - when did Eggman even built that?! - and the machines of the Egg Empire fell in disarray. Chuck was even thinking of offering his intellect and resources in order to help things calm down further, maybe even to those nice fellows of Resistance - that Whisper girl had hit pretty well with Chris over their shared admiration of Sonic...

And then one day, Chris brought home a seemingly injured red giant.

It was a stormy day. Chris left with some other people to help fix some electrical issues the system of the manor was having when they came across a wounded red giant in their field. Worried by the seemingly grave nature of those injuries, they decided to return him to the mansion for treatment.

Oh, their carelessness. No one wondered how he even passed through the defenses Chuck had installed.

It was then a nasty surprise when he righted himself up and caught his dear grandson by the throat before a wave of Badniks surrounded them. Followed by five other monsters, all surrounding their home.

The terms of Zavoc were simple: work for him, and not the hair of a single person currently in the mansion would be touched. Chuck had tried thinking other options, but Chris was in their grasp: he had no other choice but to comply to their demands...

Zavoc kept his word. He barked for his Badniks to take everyone out of the mansion, then ordered the Badniks to open fire, much to their shock. And, to further add to the wound, they set fire to the building.

The Thorndykes could only watch in horror as their home crumbled into pieces. Zavoc simply said:

"You belong to me now. Don't forget it."

He and Chris were split apart, the boy being held over his head as a silent Sword of Damocles to make him comply in hacking Eggman's machines, and submit them to their will. To work on machines for them as they tried to walk over Green Hills and make them their personal empire.

Is it any wonder that he was willing to accept help even from Eggman?

In truth, his hope was that Tails would be the one to see his desperate plea for help, which would lead to getting help from Sonic, Knuckles and the whole gang perhaps. He wasn't even sure if the little fox was in Green Hills, he realistically could be anywhere!

But the Eggman he knew had standards. Moral lines even he wouldn't cross. Chuck knew they wouldn't have their lives threatened. But Chuck would be foolish to not have a backup.

So he let them in. Left enough holes they wouldn't suspect a thing, that Zavok wouldn't catch to anything. He still worked hard, but Eggman was on fire apparently, as they teared through this EggNet and got loads of information and recovered the control of some Badniks. But they didn't have enough time to cover the trail, and next thing they knew, he had their location figured out.

Blackmailing wasn't something Chuck liked to use, but desperate times called for desperate measures. Now all he could hope was that Eggman would take the bait and-

YOU ARE BOLD.

He blinked at the message that appeared. Instinctively, his hands moved to protect the stolen data.

DISAPPOINTING. WAS HOPING TO SURPRISE YOU.

He licked his lips and wrote:

'If you expected to surprise me, you would have been better not saying anything to me.'

INDEED. PERHAPS I UNDERESTIMATED YOU. A MISTAKE THAT WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN.

Chuck tapped his fingers against the keyboard, before writing:

'Are you with Eggman?'

INDEED. YOU MAY REFER TO ME AS SIMPLY SAGE. I EXPECTED TO USE A HOLE IN THE CONNECTION TO SEIZE THE DATA YOU STOLE BACK BUT ALAS.

Chuck wisely refrained to talk about the five backups he did of the data - two in a closed circuit he developed unknown to the Zeti.

'Let's say I did take precautions. This data is only getting erased when I want to and not a moment after.'

THAT'S THE PROBLEM, ISN'T IT?

He paused.

'What you mean?'

I MEAN THAT YOU HAVE...ALL THE CARDS, AS THEY SAY. YOU COULD KEEP THIS DATA IN ORDER TO BLACKMAIL US IN THE FUTURE.

'I am a man of my word. If I am taken out of here, neither G.U.N. or the Restoration would known about it unless you wanted to. Eggman knows I'm not the type to say hollow promises, unlike him.'

UNFORTUNATELY, DOCTOR IS NOT CURRENTLY CAPABLE OF SPEAKING IN YOUR FAVOR. SO, ONCE AGAIN, I SAY I HAVE LITTLE REASON TO BELIEVE YOUR WORD.

'Not available? What about that presentation a month ago? Didn't...'

Then Chuck remembered the reports of Eggman seemingly being wounded post-battle by a mysterious assailant. Records of Badniks were scarse but...

'I see. So, in this case, trust in my word as a man of science. This is the best guarantee I can offer you in the moment.'

Silence. Then, after a minute, Sage answered.

YOU PROVED CAPABLE OF TRACKING US. THEREFORE, I SHALL BE INCLINED TO BELIEVE YOU. BUT BE WARNED...

The screen glowed red for a moment. From the speakers, a girl's voice said:

"Attempt to double-cross my father, and you will WISH to still be prisoner under the Zeti."

'Did...did she just went through my securities on that level?'
The screen returned to normal.

UNFORTUNATELY, I HAVE LITTLE TIME TO DELETE YOUR MATERIALS. THIS BATTLE YOU WON FOR NOW, AND THUS WE SHALL PROVIDE RESCUE FOR YOU.

Then a png of a hand washing the other appeared on the screen.

FOR NOW, FAREWELL CHUCK THORNDYKE. MAY THE FORCES OF THE EGGMAN EMPIRE LEAD YOU TO SAFETY.

The man waited for a few moments, wanting to see if she still remained on his computer. Seeing there was no sign of Sage, he put his back against the chair and slumped, tiredness taking him over.

Was...was he over his head with this plan?

...

Likely. But Chuck couldn't let doubt blind him. It was already lucky Zik didn't intercept his first message. Now he would be in high alerts from the clusterfuck that was the raid against Eggman.

He had no choice.

It was all or nothing for him and Chris.

Bitter Memories
Bitter Memories

Commander Towers stood on the balcony of GUN's central command, his gaze fixed on the moon. It was whole once more thanks to the cosmic rearrangements of the Shattering. He found it ironic that an event as chaotic and destructive as the Shattering would restore something tied to his past so intimately.

His parents had called him the Child of the Stars, the first human born on space. It had been a mark of pride for them, a symbol of human progress. For him, it was a weight. The Space Colony ARK incident, fifty years ago to this day, was his anchor to those stars, forever pulling him back into a gravity of regret and loss. Tonight, as he did every year, he indulged in his ritual of quiet remembrance, staring at the moon in silent communion with the past.

The soft chime of the door behind him broke his reverie. He didn't turn, already knowing who it was. The measured yet hesitant footsteps confirmed his suspicion.

"Commander Walters," Towers said without looking away from the moon. "What brings you here?"

Walters, his counterpart from another universe brought into this world by the Shattering, joined him on the balcony. He carried a similar somber air, though his was tinged with the guilt of a man who had long borne a heavy sin.

"You know why," Walters replied, his voice rough. "The ceasefire proposal."

Towers sighed, his posture stiffening. "And they still don't like it."

"No," Walters admitted. "Most of the others think it's madness to even consider working with Dr. Eggman. That's not even counting Director Jewel, she nearly had a meltdown over the idea."

"I can understand her reaction," Towers said, finally turning to face Walters. "But she's still a civilian at the end of day. She hasn't seen what I seen, hasn't read the casualty reports the first time the Black Arms invaded, she lived to it but I have to lead a war that GUN, no the world, almost lost."

"I managed to convince the Restoration to hold back, at least for now," Walters said. "Not that it was easy."

Towers allowed a faint, bitter smile. "The Restoration is admirable, but they're untested in war such as this. The Black Arms aren't a foe you defeat with idealism or stubbornness. Truth is, Eggman's intellect is much more important than whatever scheme he is plotting at the moment."

Walters nodded slowly. "My own Robotnik wasn't much different. I once call him a lab rat with teeth. Dangerous, unpredictable, but invaluable when the chips were down." He hesitated before adding, "Funny how events still correlate, even with the Shattering."

Towers gave him a sidelong glance. He knew what Walters was referring to. Months ago, the other commander had confided in him about his own version of the ARK incident. It wasn't something Towers liked to think about, but the details had stuck.

It was idiotic, it was stupid, it was illogical but...

When he told you that, a rage overcome you. You almost pull out your sidearm and put a bullet on him.

Worst part is...

You aren't sure if Walters would try to stop you or welcome it.

Ever since then, off hours relationship between you two were awkward to say the least.

"You were there," Towers said quietly. "When it happened."

Walters exhaled heavily. "Not in your version. But yes, in mine. I was one of the soldiers sent to arrest Gerald Robotnik. One of the idiots in my squad let things spiral out of control." His voice faltered. "I tried to stop it. To stop him. But…"

Towers's fists clenched. The bitterness in his chest flared, though he kept his voice measured. "But you couldn't."

Walters shook his head, his eyes haunted. "No. The gun misfire and hit one canister or something and the lab exploded not long after. I keep this with me as a reminder." He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small, silver slip with a blue circle int he center. "The activation key for the Eclipse Cannon for my universe, all GUN commanders have to carry it. It's useless now, but I carry it anyway. A reminder."

Towers stared at the key, a mix of emotions swirling within him. Walters hadn't been part of his ARK, it was foolish to hold contempt to him, still the bitterness lingered.

"I'll never forgive what happened on the ARK," Towers said, his voice hard. "Not in my world. Not in yours. But I understand the weight you carry."

"I don't expect forgiveness," Walters said quietly. "But I hope we can prevent more tragedies like it."

Towers nodded, his gaze drifting back to the moon. "Then we have to stop fighting among ourselves and focus on what's important. Eggman is a monster, there's no denying that, but we'll need every resource we can muster to survive what's coming."

The two men stood in silence for a moment, the weight of their shared histories pressing down on them.

"My parents's used to call me Child of the Stars" You aren't sure why you are telling him that, maybe you just want to try to change the subject or maybe something else entirely.

"Really?"

Towers glanced at him, a faint smile tugging at his lips. "Yes. It's ironic, isn't it? To be born among the stars, only to see them as a reminder of how far we've fallen."

Walters pocketed the key, his expression thoughtful. "Maybe. Or maybe it's a reminder of how far we can still rise."

Towers didn't respond immediately, but as he stared at the moon, he allowed himself a sliver of hope. Perhaps Walters was right. Perhaps the stars still held a future worth fighting for.

Edit: Don't know if some of the lore about Sonic 3 movie will be used in this quest but if does. I imagine that Towers and Walters have a very interesting off hours relationship. They are professional to not let affect they work at least.

Walters open some wounds of Towers about something he will never be able to forgive, frankly I very much expected Towers signed up to GUN initially to be able to figure out what happen in the Ark. While Towers open some wounds Walters very much want to leave in the past and if anyone actually deserve to get revenge on him would be his Shadow and Towers, even though Abraham is from the other universe.

Basically Walters, once he find out the background of Towers, told him about his own version of the Ark Incident since the guy, in my opinion, is a mess of guilty and would not feel right to keep this secret from another survivor of the Ark Incident. Don't actually help Walters also knew his own version of Marie Robotnik and play a hand in her death, no matter accidental.

Guardians and Empires Truce at Last?
You were Abraham Towers, and you were hoping for the best here.

A lot of people under your command were completely against this. Walters was immediately on edge, and your young new head scientist damn near mutinied at the idea of having to work with Eggman in any capacity. Thankfully, those completely loyal to you or at least the job outnumbered those against you just enough things were gotten under control.

GUN was a mess. You could accept that ultimately. It was a hodgepodge of warring egos kept together mostly by a shared desire to do good. It didn't help that Eggman's massacre meant those from your original world were about a dozen or so old guards that had been too old to fight and some rookies who had fled to fight another day.

You don't blame them.

Eggman was not a merciful man. You knew that better than anyone besides perhaps Sonic himself.

But he was also a man of great brilliance and resourcefulness, with a dangerous "Us vs. Them" mentality. If left to his own devices, he would surely rise to power again, and there was no telling what he would do then. It was easier to partner with him, at least long enough to get a feel for how to better handle him in this Shattered new world. Perhaps he could even join forces with you once more to deal with Black Doom.

Someone had suggested just shooting him, and you nearly lost your composure.

You still could hear in your mind Walters preaching every meeting how they should push more against Zavok and wipe them out completely, maybe even push for a more "Agressive" peace with the Restoration if they weren't willing to complain…

Never again. Eggman was not an individual you could go half cocked and expect to win, no matter how easy Sonic made it look. If things came to it, then you shall fight and don't let history repeat itself, you won't let a madman with desires of grandeur destroy them a second time and proceed to take over the world, but right now, facing each other would only weaken their current position, and with Shadow assisting Black Doom, such an opening is not something you could afford.

It took both the Restoration and G.U.N. combined effort to almost eradicate the Black Arms, just before Eggman came and finished the job.

A small part of you couldn't help but think that if Rouge had acted differently that day that she found "Mister Tinker", then perhaps this world would be free of the menace known as Eggman.

But no, you couldn't hold Rouge responsible for that, she did what she thought was best at the time… and so were you currently.

Taking a small squad of your most loyal soldiers and setting straight towards the former territory of the Black Arms…now where the "Eggman Empire" is supposed to be you couldn't help but grimace. You have heard the reports of several people coming from a similar reality to this one, but where Eggman had established his reign for a significant amount of time already.

If he was that kind of monster they were dealing with now…There would not be much to do but brace themselves for trying times.

But they would endure, no matter what, G.U.N had a responsibility to the world and they would uphold it.

And so, that's why you and your chosen squad stood at the edge of Eggman's territory, waiting for a response.

Across the scenery, the effects of the previous battles that took place was noticeable, and while the scraps of the Badniks have been removed, Eggman hadn't had the chance to clean it up, you wonder why?

What happened at the end of the fight?

(Line Break)

You were the one, the only, the great, Doctor Eggman!

…And you were not having a good time.

Usually, achieving a crushing defeat on your enemies would get you celebrating and boasting for hours, and you were about to do so…

If a goddamn sniper hadn't shot you right at the end!

It hurts for Chaos sake! In all your years of fighting the hedgehog, you can say you never had the pleasure to get shot…well, apparently there are first times for everything.

Luckily, that platypus was good for something and with your precious Daughter giving the warning, he was able to retrieve you quickly and bring you to the base med-bay.

It was a close thing but using most of the base's resources, the remaining ragnaids and with the help of Piastol's weird mutt, you were able to make a recovery.

Your chest still hurts and unfortunately, it would still take some time before you were fully recovered, but alas, there was no rest for the brilliant minds!

(Eggman is currently at 2 HP!)

Even if you should be resting right now, there were many projects that required your attention, some you could leave to others, some needed your direct supervision.

Handling the captured Zeti, fixing Metal Sonic, going throught the reports the bounty hunter gave Sage about that Fortune Teller.

There were several things you would prefer to handle. Instead, you had to deal with…this.

"Sage…dear, could you be so kind as to repeat what you say? I think I might have not heard you correctly." You ask again, your mood foul already. You have been spending your day checking the newest biodata that Metal collected from that weird Deathhound, when your daughter notified you of this sudden development.

"Yes, Father." Your daughter nods, repeating what she said with a mixture of calmness and…was that wariness you notice? "Since half an hour ago, a squad of G.U.N operatives has been sighted on the edge of your territory."

"Those annoying suits have finally come to bother me?" You ask as you stroke your mustache. " Bah! I'm not in the mood to entertain them! Just…send the remaining Badniks and Rusty to finish them off." You quickly inform Sage, your aching chest reminded you, that you were not at your 100% condition.

"Understood Father, I shall handle it then." She replies dutifully, ready to help you in your current condition. Awww, what a precious child! "I also need to inform you that G.U.N Commander Abraham Towers was sighted leading the group." Wait what?

"Wait what?" You say surprised. As you fully stop what you were doing and access the security cameras, getting visuals on the troops. "Egad! What in the name of Chaos is going on?"

A moment later you see it, several military vehicles parked in clear view, several soldiers outside, making a perimeter, and in the center of it…

"Towers…eh?" You remember the Commander of G.U.N. when you wiped out the organization just before the Shattering, killing him and the remnants of that pitiful organization. The Shaterring must have brought him back…

"And they have been just there? Out in the open?" You confit with your daughter one more time.

"Correct Father, they have stayed there exactly 35 minutes and 24 seconds. She informs you as you stroke your mustache, deep in thought. "I… I think that They might want an audience with you?"

"What would those pathetic militar men want? Their turn to be crushed shall come soon." You grumble as you ponder if it could be easier to just send badniks to end them…

"Ahhhh blast it!" You say, deciding to humor them. "At the very least, I will be able to mock them before killing them one more time." You decide to humor them this one time.

"Father…are you planning to go out by yourself?" Your daughter asks…a hint of worry evident in her voice.

You were about to retort that yes, of course you would show yourself, but before you can mutter those words, you remember how worried Sage was when she saw what happened to you…You didn't want to worry her even more.

It's not the duty of the father to burden their child like this…

You sigh. "Not this time, just…send a drone or something like that. I still want to talk with that Commander." You order as you send a message to Stone to bring another cup of coffee, you think you will probably need it.

"At once, Father!"

(Line Break)

It was almost an hour since you arrived here that the madman decided to respond. One of your soldiers quickly notified you of an approaching drone, baring the smiling Sigil of Eggman.

Taking out your binoculars, you were able to confirm it…This was a more quiet greeting than you expected, you will not lie.

You order your soldiers to not shoot it down and let it approach you, steeling yourself for the upcoming talk.

Once the drone was just a few meters away from you, the drone opened itself, revealing a large screen that lit up a few seconds later. The visage of Eggman greet you immediately.

"Ahhhh, Commander Towers! So nice to see you!" The doctor gives you a wide grin as he inspects you. "I must say, the Shattering did a great job for you…coming back from the dead is quite a thing, isn't it? Hahahahahahaha!" The egg shaped person mocks you, giving a belittling laugh.

"Eggman…" You simply reply, it still stung, you will not lie, knowing how he eradicated all of you single handedly… It might have been a future version of you, or even one from an alternate reality, but still, the fact it did happen speaks volumes of how far he was willing to go… "I see you were victorious from your encounter with Zavok." You decide to comment instead, not willing to humor him.

"Ahhh yes…" The doctor clenches his teeth, you assumed that the Alien managing to take over the remains of his Empire would be a tough pill to swallow. "That Zeti might be able to enjoy what is mine, but make no mistake, once I'm done with him, I will finish what I started with your lot." He sneers at you, trying an usual intimidation tactic, but you won't cower to the likes of him.

You just close eyes and take a deep breath, such genius, used like this…was he really Maria's cousin? You still couldn't understand how.

You odeon them again and you stare at the monster right in his eyes. "Enough games and posturing Eggman. I did not come here to waste both of your time."

"Oh, is that so?" He gives a little smirk as he cocks his head. "So tell me, why are here then?"

"The Black Arms are back Eggman. Black Doom is back." You grit your teeth as you say the last piece of information. "Shadow is working with them…"

He snorts. "I already knew that, simpleton, don't you remember it was me that kicked them off from here?"

"I know…and that's the reason I am here." You start before taking a deep breath. "Eggman, I don't come here looking for a fight, instead, I'm here to request your assistance for fighting the Black Arms…Black Doom is a threat to all living beings on this planet."

The man stares at you for a second, before his eyes widen…and then he starts laughing. "Oh Chaos! Hahahahahahahaha!!! You are serious?!" A sound of something being hit could be heard from the monitor.

"Is this your idea of a joke?" He asks you, once his laughter subsides, shaking his head lightly as he looks at you once again. "I know, during the Black Arms invasion, we all had to work together to fend them off. It was… interesting." He comments, but you know very well that he realizes that if all of you hadn't cooperated together, the world would have been destroyed.

"But that was then, this is the now! The Black Arms are in my list of priorities, but there are other names I need to cross first. They will get their due soon!" He exclaims with a serious voice as he glares at you.

"Besides, do you seriously expect to buddy up and work together? Hsve you been listening to Sonic's speeches?" He makes a brief and short laugh. "Perhaps if G.U.N were to join my glorious Empire I would consider letting you-" You stop him right there.

"Never" You shout steel to him, making him stop talking, seeing the enraged look on his face you continue. "G.U.N. might have been destroyed by you in your past, you might still continue with your insane plans of world domination…you might have machines of destruction to do your bidding, but forget about us ever submitting to you!"

"Enough games Eggman! Black Doom is back! Shadow has allied with him… Sonic is nowhere to be seen! If we don't stand together, then we will be easy prey to him!" You give him a disappointing stare. "Our fight may continue until one of us is eradicated, but surely you can recognize he is the bigger threat right?"

He just stares at you, expression annoyed that you didn't go along with his banter, and then blows air. "Fine, I will…give you that. That alien will be a tough nut to crack, but once I get my payback on Zavok, I will be able to focus full time on him! After all, we both know Black Doom0's goal's don't we? It's easy to make some preparations…"

"You mean how you possess one of the Emeralds he is looking for?" At the widening of his eyes you continue. "That Starline wasn't as careful in retrieving the emerald…nor he covered his traces completely…once we identified him in the Auction alongside Agent Stone and Mercenary Canaan…and that announcement from a few weeks ago, it became very obvious." You stare at him, as he gritted his teeth, annoyed at having one of his trump cards revealed.

"Fine, I won't confirm or deny that, but still! I admit, habing your's or the Restoration assistance could help things a bit, I'm not doing too bad myself eh?" He smirks at you, you couldn't helo but frown.

"That won't matter soon…if the news we have been getting of Black Doom throught that channel are true, the rest of the world hasn't been faring as well as you might think." At that Eggman looks uncertain, you notice this.

"Evila's news? That channel?" You ask again for confirmation. "...You have not checked it?" You could not believe this.

"I have been busy!" He replies petulantly.

"You shake your head. "It doesn't matter…look I will keep this simple. We want your help in fighting against the black arms…maybe even in dealing with Shadow." You say, a part of you torn.

"Oh that…I have to admit, dealing with the Ultimate Lifeform will be…interesting." Eggman muses.

"We are not sure why Shadow switched sides…we hope Black Doom is controlling him somehow…but if its the worst case escenario, we have a kill order on him." You close your regretful that it came to this.

"So what will it be Eggman? Will you assist us and join forces agains the Black Arms? Keep in mind we won't just Let you act freely as you wish…but in these times… all assistance is needed."

Eggman Just stares at you, expression unreadable.

What is Eggman's response.
[ ] No! (You kick GUN out, you Dont need their assistance!)
[ ] Yes (When the Black Arms return, you and GUN will collaborate to fight them, collaboration next turn to study the Black Arms, material)
-[ ] with some conditions (write in: warning depending what is asked, heart check only with Eggman stats will happen. If not meet the condition Wont happen)

Batty Dealings

Batty Dealings

"Father, E-123 Omega is about to break down the front door."

You choke on the coffee Stone had prepared for you as Sage tells you that, frantically changing the monitor to the security camera and sure enough, there is the ornery red robot smashing his metal fists into the front door of your secure facility.

"I don't need this right now!" You roar, sending a hoard of badniks towards Omega while also sending messages to your martially inclined lackeys to make it to the front. Omega may tear through the badniks, but Canaan and Rusty should be able to at least keep him occupied enough for another to land a finishing blow.

"I'm sorry doctor, if we knew you were in such a state… well Omega would probably still insist we come."

That familiar voice is worryingly close.

Spinning the chair to face the voice while raising your Egg Gun, you call out. "Sage! Lock down this room and run an inventory on everything in the base!"

Your sights land on exactly who you expected.

Rouge The Bat, Master Thief, Master Spy, Master Treasure Hunter, and certified jewel addict, lounged on an ergonomic chair not ten feet from you, her legs kicked up as if she didn't have a care in the world. A smirk was on her face as if she didn't have a care in the world even as you pointed your armament at her.

"Rouge," your voice comes out as a growl, not bothering to ask how she got into your base, knowing she would never tell you the real answer. "What are you and Omega doing here, I've already bought enough trouble this last month, I don't need the two of you poking your noses into my work as well just to break things or cause me trouble!"

"Why Doctor, I'm hurt!" She adopts a clearly fake shocked expression and presses a hand to her chest, gasping. "Can a girl not break into the secret lair of a would be world conqueror without alerting any of his security or even being seen by his constantly on guard daughter?" She leans up and gives a wink at the lens on the monitor. "Cute kid by the way doc."

"Rouge," you try to keep your voice calm as twin emotions of pride and rage roil inside of you. "It has been a long week and you've broken into a place I am keeping not only safe for myself and my work, but for my child and the first thing you do is mention her so as to casually remind me of the danger your presence puts her in."

You aim your gun for the bat's head and she seems to understand exactly what kind of scenario this is.

"Now you've brought one of my rogue creations to my doorstep in an effort to keep others from helping me while we have this chat so let us chat, batgirl. What. Do. You. Want."

Her eyes are flicking to the side but you don't take your eyes off of her, trusting Sage to warn you if there is anything truly dangerous in the room with the two of you.

"Well I have to say I didn't expect this level of overprotective father from you," she sits up and gives you her undivided attention. "But if we're going to cut right to the point fine. You've seen Shadow, something is wrong with him."

You snort at that and lower the gun. Yes, you had seen Shadow not only aligned with alien invaders, but you had seen him get his butt handed to him by The Restoration twice over now.

"Yes I've seen him and how he's acting as just a puppet for Doom, what of it?"

"You know just as well as I do that Shadow would never have worked with Doom before The Shattering," her wings flap as she moves over and pokes you in the chest. "Something that alien fiend knew just as well after Shadow destroyed him, but now the Black Arms are back and Shadow is under their control!"

"And while dealing with the Ultimate Life Form may be dangerous, if The Restoration has proven anything it's that Doom is not using Shadow to his full abilities." You smirk at the overly emotional bat.

"Exactly," she presses. "Doom has the entirety of the Black Arms in addition to Shadow, so why is he just sending Shadow to try and deal with us? Because he's not just focusing on us!"

She produces several photos, grainy but clear enough to show Black Arms attacks on regions clearly not of the Green Hills. Alien warriors clashing what appear to be knights in armor, an alien gunship half submerged into the ocean, and several Black Oaks clashing with some unidentifiable demonic creature.

"Doom isn't just trying to take us here, he's attacking everywhere and you know what he's looking for."

"The Emeralds." You bring your hand to your forehead and massage it, a headache brewing.

Of course Doom would not be sitting idle in this new world, the Black Arms searching the world over for the gems to allow the Black Comet to make landfall and begin the process of turning this world into another cattle farm for the aliens.

"Exactly and there is only one person close enough to Doom that we can possibly manage to flip, but we need to catch him." She presses on. "If we can manage to capture Shadow, I think I might have a way to help him restore his memories."

Bare Failure

You narrow your eyes at her. Something about her words rings false, but you're not sure which part. She sees you narrowing your eyes and speaks rapidly, "Fine! It's not a perfect guarantee that it works, but even if it doesn't, depriving Doom of Shadow can only be a good thing!"

She does have a point. The massed forces of the Black Arms are powerful, but Shadow is a force of nature all on his own AND he does know Starline has an emerald so taking him off the board would be a good thing.

"You never do anything out of the goodness of your heart Rouge, at least not for me." Leaning back in your chair, you stare her down. "What are you getting out of this?"

"I'm getting my friend back." She stares right back at you, emerald green eyes unflinching. She does then smirk and look to the monitor behind you. "But to get Omega on board for this plan, I did have to promise that he could tear through your base while we negotiated and that he'd get to beat you up a little."

A walkie talkie comes to life on her belt and the robotic voice of Omega comes through. "ROUGE, DID YOU INFORM THE DOCTOR I WOULD BE DESTROYING HIM?"

The bat sighs and takes the walkie, changing the frequency briefly while looking at you. "You look like you're not doing well already, so I can probably talk him down to fighting your robots if you're up to it. I saw you had a Metal Amy and Metal Sonic, that'd probably be enough?"

The nerve of this bat!

"So you get your friend back and Omega gets to break more of my machines, what exactly am I getting out of this?" You press.

"My wonderful talents of course!" She smirks at you. "Not permanently and there is no way I can get Omega to actually work for you, but as long as you let him fight some of your robots he's not going to cause problems for you beyond that."

She holds a hand out.

"Deal?"

Your Response?
[ ] Deal
  • You gain Rouge the Bat as a temporary hero unit until such a time you manage to free Shadow the Hedgehog from Doom's clutches.
  • You will have to assign at least one Metal Power unit to keep Omega occupied each turn. This will prevent them from doing National Actions, but not taking Personal Actions.
  • Rouge will hand over what information she has on the Black Arms and expects you to make some progress on it. She also gets you're trying to get your Empire back though.

[ ] No Deal
  • Rouge and Omega leave.
  • Omega will roll every turn to attack some badniks or potentially interrupt a National Action a Metal hero is assigned to.

[ ] Negotiate
  • Write In (This has to be something Eggman in his current state would approve of and has to be approved by the QMs)

AN: So yeah, Rouge. She's here in your base. Neat.

"General Gregor." A stormtrooper saluted, as stern man got off the truck transporting him away from his captivity. "It's good to have you back."

"Yes yes." The General waved it off and glared at the man. "What's the situation been like in my absence? I doubt the witch messed things up too badly."

Silence. Gregor narrowed his eyes as the soldier shifted nerously around him.

"Speak up!" He snapped. "What happened!"
The stormtrooper looked to a scout who looked to an engineer who looked to a red armored officer who sighed. "General…you're in command now."

"What?" He must have misheard.

"The latest assault had…complete casualties. Outside of General Blest there were no survivors, and even then…"

A haunting, piercing scream sounded out from inside the camp.

"...She is in no condition to lead."

Gregor's face could have been mistaken for stone in that moment, a combination of shock and iron composure keeping anything from showing on his face, before he grit his teeth with a snarl and swore. "His majesty knows?"
"Of course sir."

"Fine. Get me to the command center, I'll salvage this somehow."

Elsewhere…

"General?" Oswald stood outside of Selvaria's tent with a tray of food and some water. "It's me Oswald, I have your lunch.

…No response.

So after waiting for another minute he stepped inside taking care to be quiet and not startle her.

Selvaria…wasn't doing very well. Physically she was fine, but…she'd been near catatonic once they found her some distance away from the battlefield. She was conscious at least, but her eyes couldn't seem to focus on them or anything at all actually always dilated and darting in every direction.

Her body shook almost constantly possibly involuntarily but no one was sure if that was from terror or a side effect of whatever it was that monster did too her.

She barely even reconized him, and he was the only ones who could get close to her without having her lash out in fear with some fragment of her powers.

…It was almost like she had reverted to a frightened child.

Her eyes flicked briefly to him and his delivery from her place on the cot before hurriedly glancing away. She almost flinched when he set the tray on her bedside table and took a seat.

"You need to eat General…you know you're safe here right? The monsters are far away and we'd protect you."

…She didn't answer, opting to curl up and stare into space.

He waited for a minute, partially to see if she would respond, and partially so she wouldn't be alone. Eventually he sighed. "Would you like me to lea-"

Her eyes snapped to him and he froze under their desperate intensity. He rose his hands in silent surrender and sat there, the two of them looking at each other.

"You are…alive?" It hurt to hear her say that with such little confidence.

"Yes…yes general I am."

"What about… the others?" She hesitated and he did as well. She took his silence as an answer. "I see…"

She didn't say anything else, but if only for a little while, she had calmed down.

Oswald left the tent a little bit later with an empty tray, and Selvaria staring blankly at the tent's ceiling.

"Please get better quickly." He whispered once he was away. Perhaps it was a prayer, though he wasn't sure who would answer.

EggMemo: Rouge The Bat
Rouge the Bat...one of the most well-known treasure hunters in the world and wanted criminal for her flashy heists that led to quite some precious gems being "relieved" from their owners.

I remember first meeting her during my heist of the ARK, when I tried taking the whole world hostage. At the time, she seemed just a fool way over her head, trying to get the Master Emerald for herself before I tried to swoop in to get it from that damned Knuckles before he cracked it into a million pieces. I didn't bat much of an eye at the time other than being naturally annoyed at her frustrating my plans at the time.

And then she somehow sneaks into my hidden base - just as she did right now - and offers her services to Shadow and me. To steal the Emeralds that G.U.N. had in their custody. At the time she seemed like a blessing for a seemingly tough situation - again, paralleling what happened here - and I accepted her services and Chaos Emerald. I thought that she was simply a fool I could manipulate into doing my bidding, but it couldn't be further from the truth.

For you see, Rouge had this nasty habit of doing spy work to help her pay up for her crimes: doing some sniffing around in one corner, and reconnaissance work in another. As a master thief, she can infiltrate in almost any place in the world provided she has the time, resources and motivation to do so. At the time of the ARK incident, she was doing work at the bidding of the president of the United Federation to investigate the matters of the Ultimate Lifeform (Shadow) and to stop my plans from using the Eclipse Cannon to hold the world at gunpoint - at which she eventually succeeded and I even helped, after having revealed the truth of my grandfather's purpose for the weapon.

After that, she returned to her old ways of being a lonely treasure hunter/jewel thief...that is, until she found one of my hidden bases during the period Metal Sonic took over control over the empire and had me imprisoned. At the time, I had found Shadow after his presumed demise falling from the ARK to Earth and decided to study him to create a new series of Super Badniks, the Shadow Androids. When I realized Neo was hijacking it, I hastily sealed the hedgehog away with my final E-100 Badnik, Omega, as a sort of guard dog to assure they wouldn't be found. Except that Rouge did find them and set them free from their duties and against me. Yes, even Omega. The machine had developed a grudge because I didn't put him in battle and wanted to prove his power by pounding me and my machines to fine dust.

See why I did stop developing the E-Series? Troublemakers, all of them.

Either way, Rouge ended up forming the newly-christened "Team Dark" and helped defeat Neo Metal Sonic and set me free...and then proceeded to turn into big pain in the asses whenever they joined to fight me. Ugh.

But this new bond created a weakness of sorts for Rouge. Loyalty. Bonds. Friendship. She would choose the former without batting an eye if she had to choose between saving Team Dark and all the jewels in the world - including the Chaos Emeralds.

Judging by what Towers said, I would say she's sure that the only person who would help Shadow without hesitation is me. The Restoration likely has a negative vision of him due to the copies of the Phantom Ruby causing mass destruction during the war against my Empire and G.U.N has its fair share of skeletons in the closet with him due to all he did in their worlds...or so I assume, anyway. From what I've seen, Tower's power base is too weakened to guarantee that Shadow won't be killed.

And so, she turns to me. Because if Rouge can trust in the good heart of people, she can trust in their self-interest...ugh. And she came at the time I needed someone of her talents the most.

Can you understand why she drives me up the walls?

scythe girlfriends
scythe girlfriends

piastol honestly wasnt expecting to like any of hee coworkers when she started working for the doctor.
Then she has met Clove and they had immediately hit it off.
They both used scythes they both were quite serious and they both cared for their sister. (though piastol had only really started to reconnect with hers before the shattering.)

They sparred quite often and piastol tried to ignore how cute the Pronghorn looked when she was serious.
Seriously piastol was a HUMAN and she was a anthropomorphic animal that's weird.
But it didn't go away in fact it got worse.

Pistol had to hide a blush more and more often around Clove. Trying to ignore her feelings seemed to be working.
Until she had a "dream" and woke up a blushing sweaty mess and that's when she realized she was doomed.

She had then decided enough was enough.
She found Clove on the roof of the base sitting down and looking up at the stars.

"Hey"
Clove turns around and has a small smile.
"Hey piastol" she gestures beside her. "Why don't you sit down".

Piastol definitely doesn't rush to sit down next to her and anyone who says different is a dirty liar.

"Hey clove"
"Yeah?"
"I have a question about your world."
"Shoot."
Human and mobian relationships uhhh what's the general opinion on them?
Oh... uh genuinely it's more of a don't ask don't tell kind of situation.
It's not accepted but it's not "wrong".

Oh .... okay
Piastol is blushing now
So uhh hey Clove.
Yeah?
Would you perhaps want to uh go get coffee sometime?

Clove blushes as she realises what's been asked.
I! Uhhhhh sure I would love too!
Sometime this weekend?
That would be fine.
Good I'll see you then.

piastol walked away while squealing internally.
She said YES!
Piastol was probably a freak but she didn't care.
She was going to get a girlfriend.

woe yuri be upon ye
This has been bouncing around in my head for a while
Cause I'm a dengerate that can only see yuri wherever I look
Hope it's better than my last few omakes
