On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

These two seem like the best option, my issue with the latter though is that the Brana will most likely suffer severe casualties that they would not have otherwise due to spreading themselves thin; not to mention weakening the air defenses of the Throng itself which is not particularly wise seeing as how the enemy has their own flying units at play.
Given the Brana are already building a second Aerie, I'd bet they're the most able among all our forces to eat casualties and recover. the Dwarves would take centuries to do so, while Snorri took a millennia to get where he is. Beyond which the Have Reinforcements option might have some synergy with talking to Stormsong.

[ ] [Siege:] Alone.

We'll probably only get to use this trick once before the next such deployment becomes a trap in light of that it may be best to hold this card in reserve for when we siege the capital but personally I think it's best to conserve our forces by doing this for every fortress city but compromising by having a guard on the ones after this.

Vragni is almost right given he's not aware of Deep Magic being our power tap.

It's like someone complaining a 25 kiloton bomb is stupid and wasteful because you'd need a wacky custom bomber to haul 25000 tons of explosives in ONE BOMB and the structural strains would be HORRENDOUS never mind the fuel costs...

Because they don't know fission bombs exist. They only know conventional explosives exist.

Just straight up making a perfectly accurate judgement from a completely wrong knowledge base.

OOC we have good reason to believe the Fimir have exactly three things that can match us in a fight, currently. Or at least be a serious threat. We should probably account for the odds they will pull one up so quickly, or if the current commander will let us break a city to get our measure before deploying such a super weapon.

This would be taking advantage of the new commander's apparent caution and meticulous planning to force them to decide between throwing a general superweapon st us hoping it will work, or letting the city fall while they get a better grasp of how to counter us. We know they probably aren't going to be able to find a better option than "throw the superweapons at him." But they don't. They may assume our equipment is like the storm for awhile yet - figure out the trick and you can bypass it.

Also I very much doubt those superweapons were made with the Dawi as the intended targets. I suspect they are supposed to be used to exact their own revenge on the lizardmen.

Yeah Vragni isn't aware that we, intentionally but also almost by accident, stumbled into a way to pull an absurd amount of Deep Magic up in a way that heavily resonates with it, which I assume only enhances the power it provides.

Without that knowledge it looks like we almost certainly are doing something stupid and reckless that will burn out our equipment for decades soon enough. I suspect if he ever got a good enough look to realize what exactly we are doing he'll be taken aback by how the heck we aren't burning ourselves out.

I'm down with committing to Gloins plan. We weren't even rolling for Snorri in this battle which consisted of a pretty top of the line Fimir army. His mere presence gave the nearby Dawi auto-wins in their combat rounds.

And that was while Snorri had to restrict the power of his storm to not harm the Dawi around him. When he's able to unleash his storm fully I really don't see any amount of monsters and soldiers stopping Snorri. And it would take an obscene amount of magical fire power to make him slow down.

What weapons are those? I remember they got their hands on a Shard of Hashut and we're doing something with it.

[ ] Lord Sven, a gleam in his eye and a discussion about the glorious ruination you brought on his lips.
[ ] Karstah has been making noises about an idea that she wants your opinion on for reasons you don't yet know.
[ ] Stormsong, the aptly named Branakroki tasked by the King of the Skies to oversee the storm, has a proposition for you.
We can talk to Karstah later, but Lord Sven and Stormsong... I wanna see what they wanna discuss with us.

i'm leaning alone, Snorri is built to fight armies more or less, and they can't focus him down with the throng hitting another point.

Also, hilariously, Gloin came up with this plan of having Snorri act as a second army while only having seen Snorri's storm while it was being restricted. Can't wait for everyones reaction when they see it swell to full power on the other side of the city.

[X] [Siege:] Alone.

We'll be fine, ain't no one, least of all the Fimir, are ready for the can of asswhopping we're about to open up on their asses.

It looks like Sven just wants to chat while Karstah and Stormsong have something of substance to talk to us about.

[X] [Siege:] Have reinforcements.
Perhaps a middle ground can be reached. If you intend to fully utilize your armour however, your potential aid must be in the form of Brana who can stay out of reach of your storm while being fast enough to give aid. Have Brana ready to assist you. Fimir defenders suffer potentially major malus. Throng suffers minor malus from weakening air defences. The Throng can reinforce you however.

Sven might lead to a rune trade or something since I am incredibly dubious that it's just going to be about the flattery discussed in the actual option but I really do want to see what our daughter has to say.

Snorri has been promoted to strategic weapon of mass destruction, and he really should explain that he has super healing.

Oof. That difference in casualty rates between the front and rear is gruelling. The front emerged in pretty good shape, while the rearguard and baggage train were absolutely mauled. I guess that goes to show what impact information on the enemy (or lack thereof) and being able to tailor your forces to meet them has on the outcome of a fight.

Also, I have to wonder a bit about Vragni. At a time when the throng is suffering greatly, he has time to critique Snorri's use of runecraft? And find it wanting, despite the fact it pretty much completely wiped out the frontal assault and every other Dawi there was in awe of it (even going so far as to suggest Snorri alone is a threat comparable to the throng)? I... suspect we're going to have to deal with some internal issues from him in the near future, especially once we unveil our grand Runiversity.

will not stop me

a certain someone
Consider that, compared to my esteemed colleagues, much of my value and power with respect to the needs of the campaign lay with my engines. In other words, I am While you arrived after the worst of it had passed, my Lady, I cannot stress the damage their assault caused.
In other words, I am (insert missing sentence here)

Well now. First thought is to pick the Brana reinforcements and talk to Stormsong to see if that synergizes somewhat.

On the talks, while I'd like to pick Karstah, I am curious to see if us going near Sven empowers his Mrune of Vitality in any way.

Agreed, we know that we are basically a walking nuke. Though I do think that Snorri should explain why he is that confident so as to not cause anymore heated debates. I do wonder what Stormsong has to say and if it synergizes with having Brana reinforcements but we'll know when the update hits. Plus, agreeing to Gloin's plan in its entirety gives him support among his peers that his confidence in us is not misplaced and that he isn't a greedy glory hound that is willing to sacrifice a Runelord for victory.

Also agree with this would like to have a talk with Sven more but I think the "But wait, there's more" is an apt reply to what we are going to do to the Fimir city.
