On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

This for doubling down on the Power of the Earth aesthetic;

Master Rune of Amplification (Adamant)
Rune of Sanctuary
Rune of Stone

It's secondary purpose is to act as his new and better anti-magic item as MAmplification and Sanctuary both enhance a Dwarfs natural ability to dispel magic which when combined with Snorri's absurd and innate -35 to enemy magic when he is simply present should combo into something truly absurd. This is also enhanced by the Rune of Stone which is the Rune that most encapsulates Dwarven nature in a Rune, thus why it's always the first Rune an apprentice makes, and, in turn should help boost the other two Runes that are enhancing an aspect of Snorri's Dwarven nature.

It's Main function is to connect Snorri's abilities as a Runesmith to the Well of Deep Magic of Barak Azamar. The Master Rune of Amplification, specifically, is designed to enhance the natural abilities of Runesmiths which, logically, means that it directly interacts with those abilities. By using MAmplification as a bridge, enhanced be Sanctuary and Stone, this Talisman should give Snorri a method by which to directly interact with, control, and harness the Deep Magic of Barak Azamar the same way he uses his natural abilities as a Runesmith.

To use the metaphor Blizzardwing gave of Runesmiths, in which regular dwarves are like Stone while Runesmiths are like Ore, Stone with seams of metal and quartz running through it that conducts the Winds of Magic. This Talisman will open and allow those seams of metal and quartz to conduct the Deep Magic of Barak Azamar as they do the Winds.

This could allow him to do a wide range of things from actively channeling the Deep Magic into his other pieces of equipment to enhance their power to letting him use actual magic. Like, Magicmagic. Spell casting and shit. But Dwarven style.

Most of all I think this is a combo that will combo with Barak Azamar and Zharrgal amazingly. Barak Azamar for obvious reasons. But also Zharrgal as well as at the moment while it is open to and can draw on the ambient energy of Barak Azamar it/Snorri has no method to actively channel or draw upon that energy. With this Talisman Snorri could pour the full might of Barak Azamars Deep Magic into Zharrgal empowering to probably ridiculous heights and enhancing it various abilities like sending out bursts of Fire and calling up Magma from the Earth along with its ability to infuse Runes with Deep Magic.

We have barely enough for full Bloodthirster sized Gronti (32 bars out of our 36) so i think we should just wait until the next time one comes. Should be in ten to forty turns :V

We are not yet ready to make it anyway. Need T5 ingredient for it to be really worth the OOOMPH. And need to assemble stuff for the panoply and shit.
Isn't the heart of the dragon shoggoth thing a t5?

Also is the excess adamant production usable this turn or does that become usable next turn. It seems plausible that if we have 32 bars and start making a gronti over a 10 year period we'd get the remaining adamant necessary in 2/3rd of the time duration. (Since 6 bars a turn now)

Ok so how about this for a cloak tying into the forging metaphor:

The Runesmiths Art

Deep within the holds of the Dawi the runesmiths labour away, ensconced within the safety of their warded and guarded workshops they produce creations of wonder and and power that strike down the foes of the dawi.

- Master Rune of Snerra Magnasdottir (Adamant)
- Rune of Sanctuary (Prismatic Dragon blood)
- Rune of Guarding (Prismatic Dragon blood)

I'm not 100% on the prismatic dragons blood but we have it sitting around building up and it seems like a fairly neutral power enhancer so why not give it a go? The basic idea behind the cloak is to empower runesmiths and their counterspelling abilities whilst also guarding a protecting them by tapping into the mythos about how they generally operate. Runesmith's normally spend their time in safety inside their workshops only occasionally venturing out to fight threats directly. But even within their bubble of safety they still strike out at the Dawi's foes through their creations. The cloak aims to mimic that gifting the runesmiths marching alongside Snorri some protection while empowering them to lash out at their enemies from within that protection.
This is pretty good, even if I myself would love to lean into the power of CAPTAIN PLANET the earth more.

do remember that Snorri has BIG emotional attachment to his cloak cause it's from his dead wife. So replacing it is ....messy? ya lets go with messy.

I'd Favor an Ax of some sort.

Wow, looking forward to what people come up with. Definitely agreed that whatever it is, we should pour as much as we can into it. I do have a preference for Power of the Earth, but it isn't a strong preference. I just want it to be something that makes the largest positive impact on the future as we can manage.

An alternative to Grimninator or a piece of gear for Snorri personally would be to make a banner for the homies. There's one old proposal in particular that seems fairly freakin epic to me:

Master Grimnir
Brotherhood
Valiant/Battle*

The basic pitch here is that master grimnir (banner) is a rune of generalship. In addition to its obvious primary effect of making people swing a hammer real good, it can also be understood to represent cohesion and structure in a military unit. This synergises with the rune of brotherhood, which is centered around camaraderie and instinctive understanding between close allies. The original proposal called for battle as a third rune, but that one's the most easily replaced of the lot - you could go for eg. a valiant rune instead to make the banner deal more explicitly with themes of martial discipline. The overall statement made by these runes together would be many fighting as one; through supreme coordination and unshakeable trust, each individual dwarf under the banner elevates his fellows, making the formation far stronger than the sum of its parts. It would be especially well suited to Snorri's homies, who come from a variety of backgrounds (crossing species barriers, even!) and have a wealth of individual experiences to draw upon as rangers, frontline fighters, monsterslayers etc, but who are also united by their oaths, shared ideals and long years of fighting shoulder to shoulder.

An additional benefit is that master grimnir calls for a griffon feather, and Snorri just so happens to have some feathers from HRH the sky king, the griffonest griffon around, so there's an easy ingredient upgrade already at hand.

Fots?

That is, completely right. It does seem rather sudden to replace the cloak.

But I could see Snorri convincing himself that whatever item gets crafted from this Storm as being worth it.
Also Snorri get's visably upset the last times he wore the cloak as stuff damaged it forcing him to repair his wives work which leaves marks he can still see

I don't think those Runes really fit the metaphor. To me it looks less about forging items and kore about protecting Runesmiths. I think it could combo, but it does not look like it would fit in our set. It doesn't really seem a crafting connotation at all.
I'll admit I started with the master rune for the forging connection then tried to figure out where to go from there, the link may have gotten lost with the extra two runes but it's kinda hard to come up with a forging based item, I considered stone instead of guarding and even using smednir or thungni. Do you think MSnerra+Thungni+Guarding would be more forge focused?

I love it, but how does it tie into deep earth, forging or primordial?

My understanding of that hint by soul cake is that it's about what would make a good combo together with Snorri's armour and hammer. Since this proposed banner would not be carried by him, but rather by a standard bearer in his crew, I don't think we need to restrain ourselves to those concepts.

I see your point, but I don't know that the risk is worth it.

Also, what items would you use? That is perhaps almost as important.

I kinda wanna finish off Wyrren Duraz, see if there's anything for completing all the Odd Places research. I imagine it would be appropriate if we also did Odd and Esoteric Runes at the same time.

Didn't we theorize it would upgrade Journeyman of the Odd?

The only cloak I would replace Snorri's current one for would be one with a Master Rune of Purification, Rune of Valaya and Rune of Thungni. The Master Rune Snorri made and the primary Ancestor Gods of Clan Winterhearth. With hope that any combo resultant of these Runes is called Winterhearth. So no crafting a cloak/banner please.

next turn is a good time for that or the one after if we want to use the 4th acrion somewhere else. and we dud theorise that it will increase journeyman of the odd yes

I'm leaning towards this setup as it should boost whatever creation we make this turn using the storm the most as whatever we make will almost certainly be a talisman of some kind, and the extra actions from productivity will help with overflow.

[ ] [Specialty:] Productivity (Mastered+) > Productivity (Savant)
[ ] [Specialty:] Talismanic Runes > Talismanic Runes (Exceptional+)

Master Rune of Challenge,
I wonder, would this not beautifully synergize with Deep Earth or perhaps Primordial?

An insurmountable, almost geographic feature that all need to surmount or give up, no other option available? A primordial force so great that it becomes the center of the battle, wether that means target or surrender?
