Renascence: A Homura Quest

Honorifics or Western-style Titles? I've used both before, which is bothersomely inconsistent

I am against calling her a cheater. That is misreading her.

Also. . How is it cheating? Magic was not against the rules, and technically Kyoko can't even play with out using a little magic.

Here's what I suggest:
Take out all the criticism/implied criticism. Instead we frame it as helping a friend, which digs at Kyouko's subconscious protectionism.
The feeble attempt to hide the magic from Sayaka is pointless. She already knows something is up. We've already promised to have a talk later.
Add in the meal invite and an introduction.

edit: removing the vote. elements will be handy, but I'm not convinced we should enchant at all.

[]Telepathically contact Kyouko.
-[]'Looks like my friend could use a little help. Well, two can play at this game.'
[]Enchant Sayaka
-[]Cheer for Sayaka. Be loud.

[]Try to befriend Kyouko
-[]As a magical girl.
--[]By introducing ourselves telepathically: 'I'm Akemi Homura. Pleased to meet you.' When questioned further: 'I'm in Mitikihara to protect a friend... and to hunt the witch known as Walpurgisnacht.'
-[]As a normal girl.
--[]By asking if she wants to join us for dinner after those hard fought matches, our treat, unless Sayaka looks openly opposed to interacting further with her.

Huh... I don't understand why you guys are saying she's cheating. She's a 'guca, and competing against a normal is already cheating.

Why would she deliberate cheat against a normal, when she already has an unfair advantage? Also, this is aomething the blueberry does by herself, let's not ruin it.

In another note, vote:

[x] Unlock Kyouko's issues 2
[x] Unlock Kyouko's issues 3

Kyouko considers herself to be cheating by using an enchantment against a non-Magus.

Sayaka would consider Kyouko to be cheating if she knew Kyouko was using an enchantment.

Might not get an answer, but hey, worth a try.

Memory Access Vote Locked.

Tallying.

Unlocks confirmed. Give me a little while to fill those in.

In regards to the above Blue Truths, no Reds at this time.

The Homumind tells you, however, that Kyouko barely understands the idea of cheating. Unless it actually takes the fun out of it (hacking the machine for an instawin, completely leaving the field during a game, etc.), she considers it little more than "playing seriously."

Sayaka would be pissed, but isn't so hotheaded as to hold a serious grudge over DDR.

Does the price we pay show significantly when we unlock memory access? Because I can't help but think Kyouko might notice if the girl in front of her suddenly comes down with a bad case of the griefs.

Depends on how bad it is.

This one might be visible on your face, possible tears, but you won't be screaming or anything.

Some of the Pandora's Box (Cost: ???) Memories, on the other hand...

Dont worry people i have perfected a technique in case you start tearing up but being unable to tell the truth(looking up the feels thread while in a public place, specially in school) just say that you remembered the ending of Angel Beats/heard the song that plays when Yui passes on, alternatively if you are in philosophy class you can declare your love for Plato and no one will blink an eye.

So it boils down to:

Choose not to interfere. Miss an opportunity to stoke Kyouko's competitiveness. Keep Sayaka less suspicious and allow her a personal achievement, albeit a loss at DDR. Take an opportunity to introduce ourselves to Kyouko as a non-magical girl, although it won't last. Remember, first impressions matter.

Choose to enchant. Our first impression is pandering to Kyouko's competitiveness, which hopefully is a favorable one given Kyouko's nature. Arouse suspicion in Sayaka and somewhat color her achievement by our assistance. Take an opportunity to introduce ourselves to Kyouko as a magical girl, in a safe non-combat, non-territorial setting.

I'm at a bit of a loss. Here's to hoping there's help in the Memory Access.

Speculation:

Kyouko doesn't consider the enchantment 'cheating'. It's merely being mildly serious.

If we enchant Sakura to match, Kyouko will up her game as well (since it was stated that she was keeping things below supernatural levels). To continue to push for a Sayaka win will become an enchantment arms race, a public spectacle (Mikimom takes a sanity hit), and a completely unpredictable reaction from Sayaka, who has to actually endure this enchantment without knowing what's going on.

This will not end well.

On the other hand, Kyouko is competitive. Sayaka is already pushing towards her level without enchantment. Kyouko will go for the win, but the fact that she actually had to 'get serious' vs a non-magical girl is certainly something she'll enjoy. If we employ enchantment, it changes from a skill challenge to an enchantment challenge between Kyouko and Homura, with Sayaka as the puppet in between.

Why in the world would Mikimom take a sanity hit? even with the enchantments it is Sayaka´s skill that would win the game in that scenario, being fast or strong does not really equal to being skilled at something, its just leveling the playing field.

It's too bad we don't have any proof Walpurgisnacht is coming. If we did, we could get instance Mami+Kyoko+Sayaka alliance, solving a lot of Mami's issues and making things a lot easier in one fell swoop.

One thing I noticed from my rewatch of Episode 10 is that in the original timeline (pre-Homura-wish), Mami knew about Walpurgisnacht ahead of time. Whether the source was Kyubey or General Knowledge or something else I don't know, but she knew at the very least the approximate date, maybe even the specific.

Good points, especially about the enchantment one-upping.

And by leveling, Kyoko will be forced to use magic to unlevel it once again. I'm with kinematics on this. Let the inevitable bonding between those two starts by itself. She will learn about our nature as a 'guca later.

EDIT: Also, apparently Kinematics is a ninja.

If we play the enchantment arms race, that means both Kyouko and Sayaka go into the fully superhuman realm. I expect it to be a bit disturbing to see your daughter do something like that.
Nah if it was my daughter i would be cheering her on and shouting at everyone that it IS my daughter the one who is pulling those sick moves.

I think you are overthinking things....
