Renascence: A Homura Quest

Honorifics or Western-style Titles? I've used both before, which is bothersomely inconsistent

  • Western Titles (Mister, Miss, job titles, Lord, Lady, etcetera)

Oh! i actually had to rack my brains because i got so used to cyborg being....cyborg.......that is either the most brillant idea or we would end up being chocked to death by Kwijibo.
.......So Homura has locked memories about her family? hm..... maybe at a later date.

Non-Canon Omake: Omake Time!
How about a closed room murder[/jk]

Omake time!

"The culprit is...you! Homura Akemi!"

The room went quiet. Sayaka stood proud, her arm outstretched and a manic grin plastered to her face.

"You thought I'd just let his murder go unsolved, that I'd accept it was some random shooter? What are you, stuuuupid? Haha!"

Her eyes were twitching now, her hand visibly shaking.

"Look at thiiiiis! Look at iiiit!"

There, at the bottom corners outside the doorframe, were two strips of duct tape, perforated, ripped in two.

"The killer couldn't have come through the door--when I discovered the body, the tape I'd put out to make sure Kyousuke stayed in his room--it was still in one piece!

"Heeeeeeeee!" It sounded like steam escaping from a kettle, the noise coming out of Sayaka's mouth. "It was a magical girl, I know it! Who else could have entered this room, on the fifth floor, without opening the door? Who else could it beeeee, Homura-kouhai?"

Homura stood stock-still. She could still make it. All she had to do was divert the blame, figure something out... That was it!

"I'm sorry to disappoint you, Miki-senpai, but even if the murderer were a magical girl, I couldn't have done the deed. You already know my guns are normal, mundane weapons. If I'd been the killer, there'd have been bullet casings, burn marks, something left behind afterwards."

Sayaka's lips tightened further, into a smile that threatened to cut her face in two.

"Oh? But there were bullet casings. I heard them~!"

"What--heard!?"

"Oh, didn't I tell you? All that night, I was in the next room over with my ear to the wall, listening to Kyousuke breathe! Without sleeping, without making a sound! I was there the whoooole tiiiiiiime!"

With that pronouncement, a black fog began to rush over Sayaka's body, enveloping her in darkness. Then, with a tremendous rumble, it shattered to reveal a familiar three-eyed face, rising to tower above a very confused Homura.

"What? But--but she hasn't even made a contract yet!"

Hospital 6 | Doctor Smith
[X]Go see your cardiologist.
-[X] Go see if you can get a detailed rundown on your heart problems, what causes it, and theoretically how to fix it. Maybe with enough information you can figure out a way to use Magic to fix the problem or at least make it cost less Magic/Corruption.

Shaking off the surreal feeling from that experience, you contemplate your options...what time is it, anyway?
10:30:47 AM
You pull out your pocket watch, checking. It's 10:30 am. You've still got plenty of time until you're formally released at 2:00 pm, but you can slip out of the building whenever you want.

In the mean time, you decide to go talk to your cardiologist. You normally avoid the man...his rambling is grating, especially when you have more urgent matters to attend to, but maybe he can give you the insight you need to heal your heart properly.

It can't hurt to try.

You set back down the hall, returning the door to his office. A glance in the window confirms his presence, and you knock twice.

A few moments, and he opens the door, "Oh! Homura-chan. I'm surprised to see you in my office on your big day."

You channel some more Moe. It's getting tiring to do so, but he doesn't know your older self, just the child you were before, "Well, um, I...could you tell me about my, um...my heart? I know it's a heart disease, and that it's the reason I used to get those dizzy spells, but..."

He smiles and gestures for you to come in, "I've been waiting ten years for you to say that. Have a seat."

You sit down across from him as he folds his hands on his desk. He seems to ponder for a moment, before rotating his computer's monitor towards you, "Here, take a look. This is your heart."

A scan of your heart appears on the screen, and he begins gesturing towards different part of the image, indicating the exact nature of what you suffer from. He goes on to explain, over the course of an hour, the causes of each symptom and the reasons for each treatment they used on you over your lifetime.[+2 Medical]

"So...do you have any questions?"

About three quarters of that went over your head, but you did learn quite a bit. Still, if you want to actually use what you learned..."Um...just two. Could I have copies on those images, and...could you maybe recommend a related text? I'd like read up on some more, but I don't really know where to look."

He smiles, "No, no! I will not be recommending any texts!" He stands, striding over to his bookshelf, before pulling off two books and handing them to you, "For the girl who's been through hell, a couple of free books is the least I can do! As for the scans..."

He presses a few keys on his computer's keyboard, and the pictures slowly emerge from a nearby printer, "Here you go. It's always good to see a young lady getting interested in medicine. If you need any more help, just stop by!"

You fight back a momentary urge to produce a genuine smile. You'd forgotten how kind he was, after all these years, "I will. Thank you!"

You quickly hurry out, checking the label on his door as you go, "Doctor Smith. What a strange name...then again, he is foreign."

A quick glance across the hall confirms the psychiatrist has gone on lunch break. You won't be talking to her today, it seems.

Items Obtained:
Cardiology Texts (+1 to Medical/Hour studied. Maximum +3. When used as a reference, provides a +5 to Medical when treating Heart Disease.)

It's a waste of 2 hours, but at least we won't gather attention by suddenly breaking out of the hospital.

-[x] Take the time to examine our soul gem?and refamiliarize ourselves with our magic. There have already been some anomalies in this loop; let's make sure they don't extend to our powers.

Not Canon, unfortunately (which means the reward will be smaller). Sayaka is not a person capable of Witching without a contract, and she's also not that crazy, thankfully.

Despite, that I absolutely love the Omake. I'll put up a list of rewards in the morning, once I've had a chance to think them over.

EDIT: Also, that was tonight's last update. Sleep calls me.

Huh. So there are people who can Witch without a Contract.

Alright then, i think i have a plan but first!
witch can we use our magic to say, unlock either a window or a door? also how are our founds? i dont mind stealing but there is a difference about owning an object that you stole and one that you bought, weapons are a neccesity and we cant access them as easily so they are exempt from the rule.

.....meh, well gain more if we come when she´s here so lets use this two hours to restock!
actually i have 2 plans to spend the time
Plan 1
[Q] A place to sleep is important, but you need to restock your Inventory first. Time to go shopping and "shopping."
-[Q] Use your time stop to sneak out and at intervals to save time, go to the library and look up more books about medicine and psychology specially, also any books that take your attention, also a music player, you lost your last one after all......

Plan 2
[X] Wait around until it's time for you to be released. Maybe grab some lunch. (Time skip to 2 pm. It's ~12 pm right now. Lunch will be Hospital Food.)
-[X] Use the time to get a headstart with those books Dr. Smith gave to you.

Small stuff like flipping locks will only cost you 1 Corruption. It's even tangentially connected to your natural magic.

You have a debit card linked to your father's account. Your father is a very successful businessman, so anything under 2000 dollars can be considered negligible, especially considering he expects you to be looking for a place to live, which means buying a wardrobe and furniture. Rent, if you end up paying any, will also go unremarked.

Of course, the nature of your purchases will be tracked by the system, so don't use it on anything that might worry your parents, or they might actually limit your account access...or have you someone come by and watch you, so that you don't get in trouble with the Yakuza. It's never been a problem before, but don't be reckless with it.

Dammit, Sayaka! What have I told you about eating Grief Seeds?!

We don't have that in red.
It can be inferred by how his words were chosen, he did said that he wont give red truths to everything immediately, its a good assumption nevertheless.

Of course, anything of dubious nature would be taken care of with our personal resources(time-stop credit card) so buying some books, clothes and devices wont be out of place.

By the way what kind of things would make them worry? buying guns is kind of tricky and most who supply them dont exactly use credit cards.....

Buying guns are for watch wearing dildos. We go on 'in site procurement' walks on the local Yakuza dens.
