I actually can't remember that. Was that when she was in the process of going off the deep end and witching out?
Yeah; the two guys talking about a girl on the train. IIRC, the official responses regarding what happened are:
1) She killed them;
2) She didn't kill them:
3) Intentionally ambiguous.

(IIRC, the manga is explicit about her killing them.)

I looked it up, and apparently Urobuchi said it was ambiguous. Considering he was the original writer, I'd take it at his word.

It was something implied just before she witched out. She was on a train and two dudes were talking about how one of them was basically just using his girlfriend. She approaches them when something weird happens to her arm, some sort of spiral patter spreading through her body that sort of looked similar to Witch animation but not really. We never actually see what she does to the two, but it is implied she killed them.

10 minute warning.

Witch-Hunting 3
You need to focus on the cat. The cat is the real problem here. The cat is the Witch. If you can--

BANG! BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG--

The Susans are at the door. They might break through at any moment now. You should go and--no, you need to focus on the--

Bringg! Bringg!

Light flashes in the corner of your eye, and a ringing fills your ears, and you become eminently aware that of the dozen telephones surrounding you, strafing by and charging at you. They don't seem particularly dangerous, since they're not even close to hitting you, but maybe you should--no you need to focus on the...

...The moon is very beautiful, you think, glancing up at it, where it shines overhead. Like a distant angel, promising--no, no, no!

You need to focus on the cat.

You close your eyes. Nothing in this place is trying to kill you, right now. Nothing in this place is an immediate threat. Not yet.

The only thing which matters is the girl in front of you. The lonely girl, looking for the love and attention that no one gave her. You cannot give her the love her father would have, but you can forget everything else, for this moment.

You find yourself thinking aloud as you narrow your focus and order your mind.
Bringg!
"A Witch Hunt is a special moment."
BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG--
You open your eyes, and look at the cat. The light and sound around you seem to fade. There is only one other person here.
BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG--
"It's when one Magical Girl takes on another's pain."
Bringg!
You examine the cat closely. She's a large grey tabby. Her claws are glowing faintly with magic--overt, shining, magical light. Magic as a young girl imagines it, not the endless depths of the real thing. The satellite dish blocks her vision just behind her head; you will have a clear shot from there, probably.
BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG--
"I'm here. All of your demons, all of your fears, all of the things that broke you--all of your Grief and Despair--are right in front of me."
BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG--
You summon four solid clones--two to protect you, and two to distract the girl.
Bringg!
"You're here too. You've been eaten by them, and lost track of yourself in the chaos."
BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG--
You begun running forward slowly, while your clones sprint ahead heading for opposing sides of the Witch.
Bringg!
"But it's okay. Because this is a Magical Girl's job. To slay demons and despair."
BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG--
The cat finally notices your clones' approach, and spins towards one; claws lash out, leaving trails of sparkling light in their wake, but your clone evades smoothly, striking back at the paw with her spear. Your other clone lunges forward, drawing her spear down the length of the cat's side--it hisses in pain and turns to swipe at her. It has exposed its back to you.
Bringg!
"And to rescue their prisoners."
BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG--
You leap for the back of the cat's head, focus entirely devoted to the girl in front of you. Soon, the base of her neck is within reach, and you thrust your spear forward, the segmented pole a ray of crimson light in your hand.
Bringg! BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG--
Your strike is true, but the cat's hide is thick. For all your strength, and the power of your Enchantment, you struggle to push through.
BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG--
"LET. HER. GO!!!" Rage fills you as the nightmare refuses to fall, as the despair fails to crumble, and you summon a chain barrier behind you, bracing yourself against it as you put your full strength into the thrust.
Bringg! "Okay, that's getting annoying. Couldn't you have just stabbed your eardrums instead?"
Your spear pierces the Witch, impaling her through the throat as you leap away to safety--only for the Witch to abandon your clones and whip her head around to face you. The satellite dish around her head begins to glow with green light, and you quickly raise several Chain Barriers between the two of you.
"Actually, I think that's a radio telescope.
An endless litany of electronic beeps fills the air as the light builds, converging into a single focal point.
"Death Star?"
Moments later, a series of rings erupts from the focal point, and a horrific screeching sound fills your ears. They slam violently against your barriers with physical force.
"Radio waves? I guess she's a bit too old to have seen Star Wars."
The first barrier cracks, and collapses. Then the second.
"Looks like your clones are attacking it while they can."
The third holds, though, and the light fades. The Witch lowers her head, panting for a moment, and you take the opportunity to leap forward, summoning and enchanting another spear.
Bringg! Bringg! Bringg! BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG--
With a grimace, you pierce the cat's eye, and force the spear through with a shout. Light erupts from within, and the cat lets out a final, tortured yowl before falling over, dead.
"Someone finally noticed me...Thank you. I'm Abigail."
Around you, silence reigns. With the Witch slain, you finally have the chance to notice the shattered telephones which surround you, courtesy of your clones. The moon is still beautiful, but you do not look upon it, instead bowing solemnly before the Witch's corpse, "I only wish that I could have saved you before it was too late. I hope that, someday, you will finally rest in peace."

"...You did a lot of thinking while you were dead, didn't you?"

The Labyrinth dissolves around you, and a Grief Seed drops down from above, landing just in front of you. Reaching out, you pick it up and place it to your forehead briefly, then press it to your heavily-corrupted Soul Gem before stowing it safely away with a sigh of relief.

You stand, turning your attention finally to Homura, 'I did a lot of praying, too. It...it helped. Watching you gave me perspective. Seeing who I could have become. Seeing how bad I was, before.'

She is silent for a while, and you quietly wait for her response, 'I'm glad it helped you. I never found what I needed.'

You sigh, 'Maybe you'll find it someday. Don't give up.' You could tell her that it was her pride--her desire to be everyone's protector, instead of their friend--that blinded her to any answer she might have found, but you know that would be pointless.

You have all failed to live up to her trust too many times. You have abandoned her, Sayaka has betrayed her, Mami has failed her, and Madoka has left her too many times. At this point, the craziest thing is that she still has faith in herself.

You just hope that, this time, you can show her that this you is trustworthy, and that she doesn't need to fight alone anymore. That her friends can come through, even if it's from beyond the grave. Maybe then, she'll learn to have faith in something, anything besides herself, again.

"It's 9:30:04 pm, Kyouko. We probably could hunt another Witch, but it might be better to get back. Warning or no warning, Mrs. Miki will worry.

You chuckle, imagining the centuries-old soldier being scolded by Sayaka's forever-nineteen mother, 'We could probably do a bit more tonight, before that becomes an issue, but I guess it's getting late, and some sleep would probably be good for you.' Time with Sayaka also helps, apparently. It's odd, seeing them so close. You've been watching for a while, and those two never seemed to get along. Actually, Homura's been acting pretty odd in this loop, now that you think about it--more than the weird monsters and devil-cats could justify. It worries you a bit.

"If you really want to go pick another fight, you can. Or you could go back to Sayaka's, and give me back my body so I can go to sleep. We could go check on Nanoha, Ruki, Mami, and you first."

You sigh, mulling it over. You really didn't want to make Homura deal with the last battle's fallout quite yet, especially with Ruki having seen you, but checking in might help calm people down--including Homura. She's pretty good at acting calm, but there's a lot of worry underlying her words. Sleep would be very good for her, though, and you still need more seeds in the long run.

Kyouko ended up not paying too much attention to her surroundings, because she has clones who can do that for her. Also because she literally couldn't fight the Witch without ignoring the other threats. Tried to follow the vote in spirit, at least.

[x] Go to Homura's Apartment, and check on everyone.

Kyouko's not wrong. Even accounting for us at the helm, this Homura is a bit on the odder side. Reads closer to heavy PTSD, old, badass child-soldier as opposed to heavy PTSD, badass child soldier.

And/or it might be the Lost Love thing, but who knows cause that could have been another timeline's/universe's Clara Doll for all we know.

This might also be a Homura who's Pride and faith in herself is starting to crack under the weight of just not having anymore chances... well, five more chances, and we're just not seeing it strain while in her head and lacking people who knew her from before until just recently.

... Her mom's (or caretaker if an orphan or something) name was Susan, wasn't it?

Her father's endless line of girlfriends. She stopped remembering their names, and just called them all Susan.
Ah. I probably wouldn't have guessed that unless they were named SU-5A::[N]#XXXX or something, implying a large numbering succession of them.

I was also raised by my mom, and a few other family members on that side of the family, so I usually default to it being the single mother before anything else.

Still, just ooph.

What if we shove the Grief Seed into a dead body and see if we can make a thing happen. Catgirls.
*Raises finger*... *Lowers finger* Huh. I'm... not sure what that would do actually.

I mean these are still the souls of girls driven literally insane by their weight grief, such a heavy grief that it breaks their very Souls, and the ability to control their body seemed to be linked to their Soul (You are a soul, you have a body) and we don't know what placing another girl's soul gem on an unrelated body will do to that body, I imagine it would "heal" it back into the self-image the soul has, but then what would a Witch's self image be?

I wouldn't expect anything of it, but something to probably test if the chance pops up I suppose.

Hm...not entirely sure what the best option is, moving forward. Letting Homura deal with the fallout of the Clara Doll fight too early is bad for her. Letting that fallout build up before dealing with it is equally bad for the situation. So...hm...Oh yeah, what day are we on now? I remember Homura has a meeting with her father this coming in-quest Sunday, but don't remember how far away that is. I think its the very next day, which will tip the scales in favor of returning to Homura's apartment and dealing with the fallout at the moment.
