Renascence: A Homura Quest

Honorifics or Western-style Titles? I've used both before, which is bothersomely inconsistent

This is not something to be taken lightly. On the other hand, don't lose your head over it. You have multiple loops ahead of you, in which to try out all the different bases, among other things.
Hear that, guys? Guaranteed fuck up this loop. I blame Sayaka, as she's the only important person we've really interacted with so far.

There are too many mysteries in place, we have locked too many memories and our combat prowress is nowhere near enough for fighting apocalypse level witches, of course we wont be able to do this in the first try, dont play with the loops, just maximize the gains and learn as much as we can while searching for the exit of this maze.

You don't even know all the things you'll need to accomplish IC to save Madoka, much less get a Golden Ending. This loop, and most of the ones before it, were effectively unwinnable due to Homura's ignorance and power limitations. You're going to need most of your remaining sand to even get close to creating a Golden Ending.

This isn't going to be a short quest, I assure you. You've got a tremendous amount to do and discover, and choosing Fragile only increased that further. Broken would have made it effectively impossible without utilizing some very unnatural and/or unethical resources in order to cut corners. As it is, you're going to have to push yourself if you want to succeed, and there are resources in the city, at certain times, that will make that easier...but only if you find them.

Remember, I may not be a sadistic GM, but the quest itself is extremely difficult.

Good luck. I'll be cheering for you.

...

I really am going to update soon, but right now I might project my indignant fury towards Veritable!Mami onto the update, so it'll be a few minutes while I listen to Rie Fu and watch a Madoka AMV or two. Sorry for the slow night, I'll try to stay up later to make up for the delays.

I told you guys we should've picked broken. Then we could have nuked stuff while justifying it as necessary for our Golden Ending!
Nukes would have done quite the opposite.

You'd probably have had to make friends with the Incubators, among other things. Maybe break into a few minds, steal a few souls. I'm half joking...you wouldn't have to do anything outright evil, but you would have to do some incredibly dangerous things and deal in matters far beyond your comprehension just to deal with the various powers at play here, not to mention learning how to operate in the mad world you would have landed n.

If it's any comfort, I am considering running another quest in the Broken version of this universe (not a Homura Time Loop one, but in that universe)m at some point in the future.

A few of the things that could have appeared, and have had entire groups and organizations pre-established in regards to them:
Dead Apostle Ancestors
Angels (Evangelion)
Great Old Ones/Elder Gods
A number of new Concepts
WalpurgisNyan
Megami Tensei Demons
Servants
Haruhi Suzumiya
etc...

Now, do you really want to try to make a Golden Ending with these factors and more in play?

Okay, having to juggle all these different things sounds a bit annoying. Though the complexity would've probably bothered me more than the difficulty.
But let's not judge things I didn't actually experience. I'm looking forward to the madness you'll be able to cram into a fragile world.

Just trying to figure out how all those forces would play off one another makes my brain want to give me a headache so I'll stop. Never mind trying to get a Golden Ending in all of that.

C-c-can we get Gurren Lagann in the Broken Universe? Or maybe DEMONBANE?

They may be around, but there are things around that place far beyond Gurren Lagann, even if they aren't part of everyday life.

If you mean can you USE them? Not likely, although Spiral Energy, AT-FIeld, and tons of other potential power sources will also be around, so there IS that.

Just trying to figure out how all those forces would play off one another makes my brain want to give me a headache so I'll stop. Never mind trying to get a Golden Ending in all of that.
Most of those would have been things on the news, not your own affair to deal with, but they'd have servants and agents around causing trouble. Also, physics would be VERY different, and the Incubators would have a different agenda now, as Entropy would be rendered moot.

It would have been chaos for a while until I sorted out on the details (I had some basic ideas for Broken, but developing a coherent universe would take a little while, during which you and Homura would be flailing around in the dark in search of a shard of sanity in this place.).

Does that mean we won't see any of these in this quest? :(

Not necessarily, but nothing on an Elder God scale (maybe some empowered cultists, though. It's theoretically possible for the GoO to reach very slightly through the Dimensional Boundaries of a Fragile universe). Some of the more horrific entities may cast shadows into this world, in some form or another, but they'll be limited in the process. Haruhi could potentially appear, as well, but she won't be a god-class entity if she does.

There will be plenty of mysterious foreign stuff in Fragile, don't worry. It just won't be supplanting the natural order and upending civilization.

Sayaka's Invitation
You look at Sayaka for a moment, before deciding that bringing her along might be nice. Besides, maybe this rabbit hole leads to somewhere practical. Shopping, however, doesn't seem like the best idea right now. You can't use your inventory in front of her unless you reveal the existence of Magi, and you have nowhere else to store things right now, so...it's time to find your home for this loop.

It's a pretty big decision, for various reasons, and you can't afford to let Sayaka make any decisions about it, but you suppose there's not harm in discussing some of the options with her. You can then go, get moved in, and go shopping. Sayaka can still join you, if she feels like it at that point.

You channel some Moe yet again as you smile at Sayaka, "Um...actually, I have something I have to do first. I'm new to Mitakihara, and I need to find a place to live while I'm here, so I'm afraid I can't go shopping until I have somewhere to store everything. I...I don't suppose you know of anywhere that has room?"

You hold your breath as Sayaka goes silent, a violent twitch manifesting on her brow, and you worry for a moment that you've somehow angered her.

"WHAT KIND OF PARENT MAKES A 14 YEAR OLD LIVE ALONE!?"

Her shout echoes throughout the station, and you resist the urge to facepalm as you continue, "N-no, really. It's alright. My parents don't live around here, and they're paying for all my needs. I just have to find a place that..."

She has the nerve to place a hand over your mouth, "No! I won't hear of it! Someone new like you shouldn't be trapped all alone in some random apartment! You're staying with me!"

She pauses, blushing slightly before waving her hands in front of her in an apologetically defensive gesture, "I-I mean, if you don't mind. I can maybe talk one of my friends into letting you stay over?"

Hmm...it seems that Sayaka is determined to interfere with this. You might be able to talk her into dropping the issue somehow, or maybe convince her you know someone who will let you stay with them?

If all else fails, you suppose you can just slip away. It will probably upset her, but at least you'll get her out of your hair for now.

[]Sneak away from Sayaka.

[] Move in with Sayaka (Easy, with Sayaka's support.)
[] Move in with Madoka (Requires Wordsmithing Roll to convince Junko. Sayaka grants a bonus to this.)
[] Move in with Hitomi (Requires Wordsmithing Roll to convince Hitomi and her parents. Sayaka grants a bonus to this.)
[] Move in with Mami (Requires Wordsmithing Roll. Sayaka could help or impede this, depending on how you handle it.)
[] Move in with Kyouko (Requires Wordsmithing Roll. Sayaka won't help you here.)
[] Move into your normal Apartment (Easy to get in, but Sayaka won't like it. A Wordsmithing Roll will determine the results of that conversation.)
[] Find an abandoned warehouse (Easy to get in, but Sayaka REALLY won't like it. It will take more than Wordsmithing to convince her to let you live there.)
[] Write-in.

Give this one some serious thought guys. I'll leave the advantages and disadvantages to you to figure out/guess at. Just...think it through, okay? A lot can be inferred through metaknowledge.

If you want to ask the Homumind any questions, feel free to ask me. I'll either answer them or tell you the memory is locked.

Also, there are things you can do to prepare for these choices which will raise your chances of success (as well as how you handle them).

There will be another update for the actual move in process, for you to argue your case with Sayaka and/or your potential housemates.

You have 30 Minutes to vote about the Memory Access option, and as long as you need for the housing one.

Meduka, you will be ours.

I don't want to officially vote yet, but Madoka seems to be the best option. We have an excuse to stay close to her and Junko seems like the kind of person to let us do our own thing.
Kyoko could also be a decent choice if we need more independence but with a bit more emotional support than our own apartment would provide.
Hitomi is a complete unknown, so not a good choice for a home base, while Mami and from the looks of it Sayaka seem like they'd mother the new kid.
I have no idea why we'd pick a warehouse over an at least semi-presentable apartment.

Why, to store all our weapons, of course!

Another housing option...Cost is fairly low, and even if we don't take it, we'll know of a backup. Maybe a place to take Yuma, or store shit.
