So, more pondering.

We just unlocked the "We love the Kyouko!" file. All the feels from that timeline are crashing down on us. At this point, I think we can assume that Homura completely loves the Kyouko (and is devastated by the fact that she lost the cross). [Note: Not more than Madoka, but Madoka is her own category.] How is that going to affect what she does?

Aside from the tears, she's going to have to hold herself back from hugging or otherwise generally showing affection for Kyouko. Potential risk: Unlocking the Akemi Madness in order to keep her emotions in check. That would be bad, as it's exactly what we -don't- want to do (remember Kyouko's reaction to being talked down to). But I don't know if we have the control to not break down if we don't use it.

While we've still been discussing the casual "Let's go to dinner" option path, I don't think Homura has the composure to have a polite dinner right now.

Unfortunately, we can't explain why we're breaking down. Mikimom is going to panic, Sayaka's going to panic and look for an enemy, Kyouko's going to just be confused by the whole mess. We can't offer food to cement the bridge between Sayaka and Kyouko in that state.

I think we need to back off from the DDR, hide behind a concrete pillar or something (since Sayaka left us at the other game, none of them are immediately expecting us at the moment), and not draw attention. Let Mikimom cheer Sayaka on; we need to hit the bathroom to recuperate real quick (we might be able to use the Madness while in there to settle nerves).

If we get ourselves back under control within a few minutes, clean up a little, then head back out. -Then- we can ask about going to dinner with everyone, and we might be able to manage.

We're hardly going to be able to hide our reaction from Sayaka. This will cause quite a few wobbles with her. If she gloms on that we're in love with Kyouko, that'll ensure that she's never more than friends with Kyouko herself. It might also prompt a bit of jealousy on Sayaka's part; even if she's not exactly in love with Homura, they bonded very hard today, and seeing Homura get shaken up by another girl right now will be... disappointing.

So, revised vote #4:

[X] Do nothing
-[X] Avoid being seen, and rush to the bathroom to deal with the emotional storm that just hit you.
-[X] Once we're good, stable, and cleaned up, return to the game center.
-[X] Cheer Sayaka on, assuming they're still going at it (gauge how well we're still doing when back in Kyouko's presence).
[X] Try to befriend Kyouko
-[X] As a normal girl.
--[X] Tell everyone we're starving, and would love to grab something to eat. Invite Kyouko to join us (our treat).
-[X] As a magical girl.
--[X] By the end of dinner, assuming we are fairly well settled back down by then, greet Kyouko telepathically.
--[X] 'It was.. good meeting you.' Response to why we're here: 'I'm here in Mitikihara to protect a friend... and to hunt the witch known as Walpurgisnacht.'

Edit: Also - standing veto on all library #3 entries...
Edit: Removing Akemi Madness potential option due to clarification on its effects.

I don't have time to get into an extended argument right now(apologies to anyone who would like to argue this out), but a suggestion: IF (and this is unlikely) we get a chance with either Sayaka or Kyoko AND they are likely to actually believe us, we tell them the truth about the stuff in Kyoko's Issues 3. With Sayaka, it'll help her to understand matters with Kyoko. With Kyoko, this should form a strong bond that helps us to use her as an asset.

Since I was the first one to suggest unlocking Kyoko's Issues 3, and since it didn't do much good, I suppose I should take a significant portion of the blame for this one...
I disagree - in addition to what Crow mentioned, we (OOC) know that cleaning up the church and getting into her father's study are going to be important to Kyouko, so that's going to be something we need to get done, ideally with everyone else, not just Homura and Kyouko.

* Note to ponder: We're missing mementos from our friends. We never got one from Sayaka. So we really do need this loop to be as successful as possible; I get the feeling that Homura always considered Sayaka as something of an obstacle, given her propensities for Bad Ending. We don't need to snuggle the raspberry, but we need to get a stronger connection to her.

I rather suspect we're going to get similar reactions if we do the final Memory Unlocks for any character. Higure told us that this Homura's emotions are beginning to break out of her control, IIRC, and while Madoka was her first friend, they're all her friends, and she'll probably react in a similar way for Mami.

Unfortunately, we can't explain why we're breaking down. Mikimom is going to panic, Sayaka's going to panic and look for an enemy, Kyouko's going to just be confused by the whole mess. We can't offer food to cement the bridge between Sayaka and Kyouko in that state.
If we can get Homura out of the situation before people realize exactly what is happening, she might be able to pass it off as too much excitement. She did just get out of the hospital, after all, and even if she claims she's fine with all the walking around, she probably would be feeling the effects at some point. Would make the food option more viable as well.

We're hardly going to be able to hide our reaction from Sayaka. This will cause quite a few wobbles with her. I don't think it'll get that bad. Sayaka is almost certainly going to cotton to the fact that Homura had something happen, although given that she's currently engaged in DDR with Kyouko, she's probably not paying attention to Homura, so if we can get her out without making a scene, Sayaka shouldn't figure out the direct cause. If/When we get to explaining time-travel and looping to her, we can point to this as an example.

--[] If viable, use the Akemi Madness to settle our nerves. Make sure to turn it off before leaving the bathroom.
Trait Unlocked: Akemi Madness(+10 to Wordsmithing when active, but costs 5 Sanity/minute(rounded up). Homura may toggle this on and off at will, but you may vote to turn it on for a specific action. Warning: You are unable to be more than borderline polite while this is active, and Moe is right out. This may outweigh the bonus, if it's a delicate situation where dramatic hand gestures, intimidation, and direct orders are not acceptable.)
I'm not really sure how the Madness would help with calming her down. Wordsmithing is social interaction, and trying to burn it to 'settle her down' is going to exacerbate the problem ... especially since she just took a straight hundred points to her Sanity. Akemi Madness is when we want to Charisma someone, but it's not going to help calm us down.

I have no real problems with this. Supporting.

Edit: Undecided.

While the wordsmithing is the skill bonus, I'm assuming that it's a result of the actual effect, which is a cold, ruthless, emotional calm. That may allow us to put a bit of (temporary) distance between our current self and these memories, in order to weather the shock of remembering them. But, as I said, only if it's a viable action to help calm down.

I ... to be honest, I'm viewing more like an impassioned speech. It's more fervent demagogue rather than calmness.

That would fit one of the potential rewards for 'Jii-chan' better:
Trait: Denial (In the face of disaster, you will remain calm for a time. Major Corruption and Sanity losses from trauma can be held off for up to 24 hours.)
But we don't have that.

We didn't unlock the second Sayaka Memory. For all we know, it's the same deal as Kyoko's 3rd. I rather suspect that, in fact.

So what did I miss in the memories. Oh god the feels...

Because he seems to have a good grasp on the current issues, which will help even if the vote specifics change over the day.

@Higure - Just as a note, the OP doesn't have the unlocked Sayaka memory files, or at least an explicit link to the post where they were written.

Regarding the current vote, and reviewing with respect to what Higure has said:

This one might be visible on your face, possible tears, but you won't be screaming or anything.
And yes, tears are going to be happening in the update.
It's changed a lot, and is going to be far more heartbreaking than it was before.

Keep tissues available.

The main concern I still have with the current vote is that there's still the possibility (even if the chance is low) of Sayaka having some sort of Excalibur-type manifestation during the first round, and if we rush off, we won't see it. If it does happen, I suspect we really really don't want to -not- be there. There's too many things that could go wrong.

On the other hand, as long as things don't go completely fubar, Higure's posts seem to indicate we'll be focused more on the emotional side of things, so hopefully there will -not- be any unusual side-effects that we have to account for.

On the other other hand, if there is a manifest, and Kyouko attacks the unknown magical signature, it'll either be, "we weren't there to stop it", or "we have to get in between our new best friend and our remembered love while they try to kill each other", both of which would be heartbreaking.

Man, we really need that Denial right now :( My paranoiac speculation tendencies are catching up to me again. Would anyone like to step in and make a statement about what level of caution you'd like to aim for?

Also also: Make a note to add a couple boxes of kleenex and handiwipes to the shield.

I guess I'll say this: I've read over your posts about the possible cross and its possible mental effects and I honestly don't think it'll be a problem here.

- The girl is already saved.
- WoG is that Homura thinks Sayaka won't blow her stack over a game of DDR
- Even IF Sayaka manages to use her sword power to help her compete, Memory Access confirms that Kyouko will consider it fair, and will actually appreciate that Sayaka is stepping up. So she isn't going to turn hostile.
- I'm not convinced the sword will manifest itself over a game of DDR either.

Thanks. Reasonable assertions. Will stay with current plans, then.

Now you are just overreacting, i say we cheer her on regardless of that, if anyone asks w can just wordsmith our way out of it, we DID just get released from the hospital and people tend to be somewhat more considerate of that fact.

I dont think the Akemi Madness will work like you think its going to work.....
--[X] Keep conversation light at dinner. Focus more on talking with Sayaka, or just listening to the conversation between the others.
Why focusing just on sayaka? arent we trying to befriend Kyoko?

Honestly if we dissapear like that both mikimom and sayaka would get worried, it wouldnt surprise me if Sayaka abandoned the duel to pursue us if she sees us going to the bathroom while crying or something, i say this again you are overreacting.

i say this again you are overreacting.
OK, I'm confused. Which part are you referring to when you say I'm overreacting?

Heading to the bathroom is supposed to be done without being seen. Sayaka shouldn't be watching for us, as she left us at another game. I'm hoping that Mikimom is watching Sayaka, but even if she's watching us, having her go with us to the bathroom is fine as well. Hopefully we can recompose ourselves within a few minutes.

Of course all of this assumes that this emotional revelation is somewhat overwhelming (being hit with the huge sanity/grief loss). If that's overstating the case (which Higure has been somewhat vague on), then we don't need to break away from them, and could stick with the earlier plan of mostly just trying to stay composed while cheering them on. Would need clarification from @Higure to decide on making any additional changes, though.

I'm being a bit vague because Homu has a say in what happens. How she reacts won't be completely clear until I actually sit down and write it.

She won't suddenly start screaming though.

You know this is a common situation, not really a trope but its quite cliche, imagine!

"You are concentrated in your epic duel when suddenly! your new friend that has been through a lot goes running to the bathroom and.....are those tears?

fuck this! she is more important! you give chase, leaving the crowd and your opponent baffled at what happened, when you enter you see her quietly crying to herself while murmuring under her breath, just what is happening?"

......see? cliche~ also

Assumptions are the snacks of the GMs, along with a fine cup of fresh tears.

[x] Telepathically contact Kyouko.
-[x] 'Kyouko Sakura. I would like to request permission to hunt within the territory shared by you and Mami Tomoe until April 30th. Is this acceptable?'
--[x] Feign ignorance, act like our knowledge is outdated.
[x] Do not approach Kyouko physically. Set up a meeting for a later point in time using telepathy.
