I know with superhero media it's "no one is dead until you see a body and even then", but that was as definitive a good bye as I could write for Valiant Silver. If there is a twist about the other possible PCs, it will not be "they're alive and you just need to save them and everything will be fine". If that was the case, the story would have been about rescuing your former team.
I can understand the feeling. From my own writing experience, letting a character cheat death kinda opens a bit of a Pandora's box. On the one hand, if you always resurrect the dead characters, it can leave the reader feeling less invested because it makes it appear like there's no consequences, even if there are. On the other hand, if you
don't make it ubiquitous or have it only work once, fans of the characters who aren't the lucky one are left feeling bitter over it.
Honestly, I think this reveal about Valiant Silver's situation threads the needle quite well - sure, she
technically isn't dead, but she's damn close to it and has seemingly been left a disembodied spirit - there were still consequences for her death. It still
mattered. And on top of that, it leaves things open for future plotlines - how did Nora end up in this state? Who's holding her captive, and how are they doing it? Will the new Justice Unlimited be able to save the leader of the originals, or will they only be able to let her rest? And most importantly and interestingly of all,
how is Lady Leizhi going to react to this? With this one reveal, you've set up like five different plotlines, each of which could go several different ways. Seriously, hats off on this one.
Just, uh. Probably best you only do this once. At minimum, Adamant, Huntress and Towarri should stay dead, and Uiara probably should too.
