Scarlet Maturity being a Yankees fan is so perfectly in line with his whole schtick. of course he's a fan of baseball, the most polite turn based sport about throwing things at people and hitting balls with clubs, after his fight with Mona that makes perfect sense. Of course he's a fan of the boringest winningest team in history, he's a social darwinist. He'd root for any team with their record.

Caught up on the main story and sidestories, still catching up on omakes and skimming thr discussion

With the future of Squad Planning, I think some advance thought on who we team up would do good.

Firstly, Mona and Maddie are great together, matching each other's stats.

Opale is a good all rounder who needs an Espionage coverer, which Leizi or Rhys can handle.

Close range Bruiser + Long Range support
Fast speed mover + Movility booster
Slow Juggernaut + Idk area maipulator/Trapper?
Literally Invincible hero + AOE fiend bombardier
Information gatherers united + Scouts?
KInda like this for roles?
Stat wise yeah BS + MW and Opele +LL or HM are good.

I still need to work out the specifics of the system, but I want squads to be actual fixed units that are difficult to change and have assigned roles within Justice Unlimited. Might have to wait until you have more people, but I'm thinking units like Denial in New Dawn.

oh, yeah, okay, I was thinking just purely in terms of the "max number of heroes that can go on a mission" thing.

Might be a transitional stage between now and "Full groups of team members with specialized bonuses".

I think we can easily transition into this when we absorb New Dawn as Wolong already has experience in a leadership role and long-time comrades he works well with; they just need a heavy hitter for safer fights. John Henry might end up as a team leader as well given his long time affiliation with Justice Unlimited, and you implied he might see things his own way before.

The current standard military doctrine in the West is four members per team, but I think a minimum of five would be alright. Or we can go the original Justice Unlimited's size as the standard, which is six or seven members depending on how you count Moon River. We might even have a hero or two on dedicated overwatch, come to think of it.

Three per team's a good number, I think. We have a bunch of territories and only a limited amount of ambrosia and superheroes to go around after all.

Magical girl squad, let's go

As long as were allowed to send multiple team on a mission that should be fine. There are definately mission that needs more than 1 team or even all hands on deck.

Also 3 should just be minimum of a team and we can add or have a hero be a temp member of a team while getting enough heroes to form a new one.

Four squads, each specializing in a stat, with each member having a secondary good stat so they cover everything.

Opale is a good flex member, she could go with Hit Squad, Rep Squad or Ops Squad.

Mona needs to be either Hit or Rep. Maddie, Esp or Ops. Rhys, Hit or Esp.

That looks better yeh. Even Handyman minmaxed as he is has good hit along with High espionage. Plus with training he should be able to reach 5 on rep and Ops.

I think any teams we have should be: Rapid Response (basically our version of Denial), heavy hitters to bring the pain, a team each for OPS and ESP, and maybe another few combat teams for patrols or specialised stuff like fighting underwater or rescue work. The mechanics of how REP works means we can't have a team dedicated to it, although some of our ESP squad should help Chihiro out occasionally.

Four members does align nicely with the stat system, but trope-wise most super-teams either start with 3, 5 or 7 seven members, or are quickly retconned into being the case; so it would feel weird in that regard. There's also the consideration that with four member and four stats there's an incentive to make teams with specialists from all four stats which may make teams feel samey; with 3 members you'd have to make a sacrifice and with 5 you could more easily make teams have specialties, both which feel more narratively interesting than just all balanced teams, even if the mechanics push us that way.

Nah Stats aside dont forget a Hero power gives mechanics which can open up options.

Like how we were only able to have Handyman infiltrate the restaurant due to being a shapeshifter and while taking Faust hostage was a mistake compared ot just attacking Ete and Printemps with backstab, it still gave BS and MW an opening to intervene.

Idle random curiosity I was wondering about that may have implications for using Red Huntress in a set:

So we saw in the Fill-In that Harper would get a leap in power if whoever she was tracking also got more powerful, as her fighting with Catch 22 proved. But I'm wondering: that an ability of Catch itself.

If Harper tagged Nora, outside of her suit, and then Nora got into her EXCEED, would Harper get a boost from that? If she tagged someone unarmed and they picked up a gun, would her abilities go up a notch or two as well?

Figured might as well go over some thoughts on potential Wolong questions, with synergies we're just assuming exist right now.

First is obviously just having him expand on the one he started with. Enhanced Strength and Clairvoyance gives us clues but we're still only making educated guesses for the rest in terms of 3rd/4th/double ups vs singles, etc.

Another option is trying to work on a psychic oriented synergy. I'm assuming that we have Mental Manipulation and Clairvoyance as starting points but that's still a guess with the rest being vague.

A third would be something based around self enhancement as a synergy, considering speed/senses/strength exist too. My gut feel is its all four of them plus one doubled tag or all four plus Fitness in terms of raw self boosting.

From synergies we know exist, Space Time Manipulation is not worth being the first to piece together when we have Zeno right here and Printemps' sample ideally will fade to normal and give us an idea on Transmutation as is.

So we're left with trying to make Autonomous Creature Creation, where we know it likely has 2 Construct Creation tags but not sure what else really. I wouldn't be surprised by Energy Manipulation being part of it given all of our Construct Creation characters and powers have it barring Man-o-War who has the synergy naturally + Umibozu whose a hydrokinetic without a source explicitely. This is also notable because Maddy has Energy Manipulation, Construct Creation, and ACC, which might be an indication of the amount of tags needed for them? Though this is still mostly educated guessing, where I'd guess I'd ask if Energy Manip + Construct Creation were part of a synergy?

Bitterman has said that there are multiple ways to the same synergy, and that he'll give us some wiggle room if we're one off. So we don't need to be mind readers to get what we want.

I still think Chatroom plus Epoxy is the way to go for John's power, but since the Keywords are just three one-offs I'd really like to ask Wolong about the result to see if my intuition was right.

What's your idea with Chatroom+Epoxy for John, again? Because all i could think of was a guy that can generate glue, and I don't really see how that'll help us.

In my case I still stand with Tag Team+

Chatroom+Memoria+Mr Hunch

Should give us Clairvoyance, Teleportation and Ally empowerment thanks to X3 Clairvoyance. Should boost johns Operations and Mechanically gives us both telepathic coms and some form of Teleportation for Combat and Retreat.
