Rose…our Princess Aurora, forgive me. Merryweather thought bitterly as she nodded to Flora and Fauna. "Hold Fast here! We are not going to allow anything to happen to Princess Aurora."

"You don't feel the shaking - or the energy in the air!?" Fauna questioned "Something is going on, and I don't like it."

"We may need more support from upstairs…I hope Fata isn't too busy with her assignment!" Merryweather shouted. "The Good Lord knows she's good at being flexible."

And so Merryweather flew, flew up into the sky, into the wild pale of the lands between to the unknown and the known, the sky, the stars and the stuff dreams are made of.

Upon a Star, and ever-bright and wonderous being sat in solace, watching, another on a quest as well. "I'm sorry for interrupting your watch Fata, but there is a situation."

"I've noticed, 'Ether. A great Evil has stirred, the likes of which we haven't seen since His Fall…"

"Let's hope it's not Him. We barely survived back then, and we were in our Prime. Nowadays, only you could probably put up a good fight - me and my sisters have been weakened enough as it is, what with the Iron Problem and… Her…"

"... She's still a sore spot, isn't she?"

"We may have overreacted long ago, but Maleficent was known for her tricks long before this." Merryweather noted.
"... I miss my sister, Ether. Every - damned - day, I wish I was there to help her. Maybe that way, she wouldn't have joined His side…"

"What's done is done, Fata. Besides, there are some problems that even one as great as you can't fix"

"... let's go see what the problem is" She said tiredly.

As they peered out into the expanse of the universe that could be observed from the wishing star, they see the cracks from within the sky's of creation, the world, a carefully cared for garden of balance of good and evil, guided by the invisible hand of the lord and his agents, such as themselves.

Creation was tearing itself apart and being forced back together.

From their perch the two fae sat in awed horror as they saw what madness was afoot upon creation.

In the Skies of the West, they saw a Good Man Die to stir the fires of hatred, as greed and madness drives them forward.

A man drenched in shadows speaking in an unholy tongue trying to bring the ritual of darkness across the entire river, he was succeeding via his dark and otherworldly patrons, the screams of the fading souls and the dying echo across time and darkness.

And in a far land, a monster rises in the east to claim the power long denied and sought after.

"By the Law of Madness?" Fata said cooly as she saw the battle between Maleficent and Prince Philip, the clash of good and evil for a woman's life on the line.

"Blood and Madness," Merryweather said. " I have to get back down there…they need-"

Fata put a comforting hand on Ether's shoulder as she looked up into the sky around her as if to try to listen for something important, but she had to concentrate on hearing it.

"No, Ether, you must walk a different path now, guide and gather the Fae who have not yet pledged loyalty to Maleficent, you will gather them and wait for the time to be right, and do good, keep the flames alive," Fata said calmly.

"But what if you…you are the Leader of the Fae who swore the oath to the LORD, They will only follow you?" Merryweather shouted.

"This requires far more than just myself to see it through Ether, you knew long ago that this day would come," Fata said calmly. "And we would walk different roads."

"HE has returned, he will cast you out and-." Merryweather stammered.

"You of all people should know he has no power over me as long as I am here…I must become the guiding star to inspire the things dreams and hopes are made of." Fata Turchina was smiling. "He cannot destroy what has been ordained protection - even you know that."

"But he will try," Merryweather said.

"Let him, he cannot destroy me, he knows this…but he can keep me from doing more than the bare minimum." The sky rumbled as she said that.

"You can leave, and do more now-" Mayweather said. "I can't bear the burden."

Fata smiled. "Ohh, Ether, you are far more than you ever thought you were."

Fata then lifted the fae by the collar and winked. "Don't think about how it could have gone, just know-"

The Sky began to crack…He was HERE!

"There is always hope for tomorrow and our dreams." She then tossed her from the Starry sky and allowed gravity to pull her back to earth.

"FATA!" Merryweather shouted as the Great Blue Fairy, the strongest of the Fae - outside of Maleficent, the Hell-Raiser - turned to face the monster.

------------------------------------

(POV Shift: Fata POV)

La Fata Turchina turned to face the primordial threat "You know you cannot destroy me, nor kill me, there are limits to even that."

She then pointed to a chair, "If you wish to make yourself comfortable, by all means, do so."

The Shadow nodded as if to recognize its powerlessness to do that, but its cunning eyes lingered. "No…this is merely a courtesy visit."

He then grabbed her throat and threw her to the ground. "Michael can't save you this time…so I will give unto you…what I have suffered."

The Shadow then held her up to see the world collapse around her. "You will live, as I have and watch…in silence and madness. HE and YOU shall do NOTHING!"

As to emphasize the point he ripped her wings off!

Turchina finally allowed despair to cross her face as she screamed in agony.

"Watch in silence…Protector of Dreams, watch as the world becomes a NIGHTMARE!"

Turchina, in pain, lingered watching on, as the world was turned upside down.

But flickers of hope remained cinders of good.

She nodded and gave her whispers of guidance despite the pain she felt.

Chernabog had won, but the game was still on.

"Good luck 'Ether…I hope that you can see it through on your end." She said, slowly falling into unconsciousness, as her form faltered and drifted away...

-----------------------------------------------

(Merryweather POV)

She didn't have time to grieve her failures or her regrets. No…now was the time to do what she needed to do.

"Oh power of life at the root of Dreams and Earth, through starlight memories and the Dreams of ALL! I, MERRYWEATHER THE BLUE - MASTER OF THE FAE OF STARS AND DREAMS!

SUMMON THEE!"

And her summon was answered, by few.

How Many Units?: 1d20 = 15 (Recall that This is JUST after the Upheaval)

Oh…Oh dear, there were supposed to be hundreds of them.

Bother.

Reward: The Upheaval has torn the world asunder.

La Fata Turchina has made Merryweather The Blue, Master of the Fae of Stars and Dreams, into the (Temporary) KING of Fae Kind.
Fata has confronted HIM… and lost. Her wings have been ripped off, her ichor stains the Stars, and her power has diminished… but Fata's influence and power remains a GUIDESTAR to those who need it.
Fifteen Fae [15] have answered the Summons and uphold the Old Oaths.

AUTHOR'S NOTES: HELLO EVERYBODY! I'm here with a Brand-New Omake, brought to you by the talented help of @Cyberphilosipher .

It's a really simple Omake, but one I had in the "to-do pile" for Quite a While.

Enjoy!!

Anyway, anyone got questions or speculations (not about my omake)?

And before you ask, I (with the help of Cyber) plan to make a sequel of this omake.

Very nicely done. Not quite canon, but it's a very good alternative scenario. Merriweather certainly had the gumption to take command, though to be honest she's also the one that kind of led to Aurora's cursing in the first place by speaking up before the King and Queen could defuse the situation.

Chernabog being the Morningstar is a nice touch. I wonder if we could somehow actually fit Michael or the other Archangels into this somehow?

They work through intermediaries and aren't physically involved.

For obvious reasons. They are busy trying to keep creation from collapsing even harder then it is already.
It does open up some questions though. We literally have Hades and the other members of the Pantheon right there, so deity isn't an issue, but does the big capital G just overrule them or work through them? Does Yahweh look like Odin and Zeus, or do they look like Him? With Encanto being a thing we know how powerful Sacrifice is, so that raises even further questions about that nice Jewish boy of his doesn't it?

Wooo, haven't been this excited in a while.

Eh, I'm pretty sure Maleficent was going to curse her anyway, so that's debatable.

Chernabog did a weird. He made sure not to grab Moses, Jesus, Vatican City, etc. Purposefully excluding his direct opposites I suppose from his project as much as possible. Souls can still reach Heaven as an Afterlife, and the holy powers of God can still reach the world, but he's making it a point to suppress them specifically more than anything else.

Eh, I'm pretty sure Maleficent was going to curse her anyway, so that's debatable.
They could have at least tried to say that her invite was lost in the mail. Mortals fail all the time afterall. It didn't help that an invited guest of the crown, one related to Maleficent at that, spoke for the king and queen in that moment. Plus the royals didn't get mad at her afterwards for speaking out of turn.

And the reason that they didn't invite her in the original story was because one of the golden plates for the banquet had been broken, and rather than insult her by giving her a pewter plate to eat from instead, they elected to not invite her. Merriweather basically made it absolutely impossible for them to save face for themselves and Maleficent both, ensuring the curse was laid. If she hadn't spoken up and the King had been able to explain the situation it's entirely possible that she would have instead let Flora grant her gift, and then trumped all three of the Good Fairies with her own gift as a flex. Same as she did with Eudora's birth.

In that instance, Naveen and Tiana had been scrupulously thorough in informing all of the other rulers of the birth of their daughter. Resulting in Maleficent sending them a Nightfury egg that was on the cusp of hatching as the trump to Jasmine and the Sultan's gift of a tiger cub. Heck, even Hades sent a gift (care of Persephone of course) as was tradition.

I can see it. "We did not think you would appreciate a human setting foot upon your lands, and it would be uncouth to have someone standing at the border and shouting or shooting message arrows trying to get attention..."

DVAV Map Idea: California

The Firebird
In the Lands of California, there are stories of lands that are kissed by flying flames. It carries with it many names. The Phoenix, The Great Flame…Nature's Wrath and more, but this terror is known by a simple name that strikes fear into the hearts of all who fear the looming shadow and smoke. The FIREBIRD! Its wings bear forth cinders and ash that light the foliage and trees like candles on cloth, it is unknowable, unstoppable, and all but invincible, for one cannot fight a wall of flames, but there are those foolish or brave enough to track the beast, to keep the flames from ending a life unjustly…and perhaps if the world is just finally answer why such a great force exists.

Los Angeles

The Jewel of So-Cal, Hollywood-land, a Slice of the Future, trapped in the past. Now, if you were expecting something vague and heroic about how Los Angeles survived - well, they leveraged the fact they had a couple million people and put them to work until Santa Anna offered them trade, money, and something resembling security, so not much of a story.
Of course, Santa Anna and Mexico knew they couldn't actually hold one of the largest cities they'd ever seen - so in exchange for a cut of money, Los Angeles could pretend it's a free city. Just because that was sorted doesn't mean trouble disappeared, from the Mob to weirdly well-organized political radicals - and if some stories are true, also a flying man; it's one hell of a town.

San Francisco

Frisco, the beating heart by the bay, the world's most well-positioned port, and the heart of Lathem Cole's railroad empire; from its telegram stations to its warehouses, from its trains and coaling station moving mountains, but it is not to say it lacks teeth, Colonel Fuller, of the US Cavalry, makes his command from Fort Alcatraz and works to keep the California Line (and whatever else they can reach) civil. It is the heart of an industrial empire to come, with honest folk making the day-to-day grind, maybe one can find that bit of honest hope, or the means to take it back.

Discovery Bay

A City of Hope and Adventure, Jason Chandler put his heart, soul, and wallet into a venture that he hoped would allow him and his friends to bring some sort of sense to a world that has gone mad. The Society of Explorers and Adventures (SEA) and their fellows work to chart and create a world of hope and understanding that would bring light into a dark world, from this citadel of science and progress. With the heroic candor of the Adventurer's Club and the knowledge of SEA's Archives; a can-do spirit and the backing of some of the most prominent and capable adventures they can find and train, and the most capable equipment in the world, they are ready to see what's out in the mad, mad world.

Rancheros de Sonoma

The Breadbasket of the North, from beef, bacon, and barley, and much much more, Sonoma's fields give the pallets of the city something to look forward to, as long as the money flows the food will flow.

Though in competition with Don Manteros, They are powerbrokers, businessmen, and ranchers, men who if given the right concessions can make or break an empire, for where there is land and money there is power to be gained and lost.

Ranchero de Montero

Don Rafael de Montero is at a crossroads; he stands alongside Santa Anna's army, a powerful landowner, a man of refinement, he had defeated Zorro long ago, and he stands to gain so much for so little. Yet even he knows that he cannot stand to have another rule over him, an arrogant general whose dream of a Mexican Empire is fraught from all sides to the fops who don't see the potential California is…

He wishes like the gringos before him to rule his land as his own master. Treasonous yes..but it was an ambition he's had for decades now, and in this chaotic and uncertain time, ambition makes or breaks a man.

And Don Montero is not a man who will break easily. It would be his nation…or it would be the ash left behind.

Native Tribes

So Far from the Aurora, so close to the Firebird. Not all the Tribes of California could make it to the light of the Aurora's embrace, no the struggle to survive the flames of the Firebird kept them settled on old lands and surrounded by terrors, both old and new. But they are nothing if not hardy in their situation, they will find a way to the Aurora or hold their lands, it makes no difference, they will endure this challenge as they always have.

Sierra Mountain Fur Company

Where there is nature, men are willing to go into it and reap the bounty. Mountain Men, adventurers, and others formed the company to keep themselves out of the growing war of influences of Discovery Bay and San Francisco and to help line their pockets with money, fur, and freedom from the civilized world they had long ago left behind. They are the hardest, toughest men and women one would ever meet, and they will hold this company together by hell or high water until they break or an act of nature strikes them down.

For they will not bend to any man who won't pay the price.

The Fremont Expansion

Captain John C. Fremont had a dream, a simple dream that he would hold until his dying days. He would take this golden country for the glory of the United States, or failing that, become the father of a nation of progress, prominence, and power. But even he, for all his skills, cannot make a nation alone.
To the West lies men who would make a puppet of him, or shove him aside, to the North a gaggle of Natives and the force of nature that would burn his ambitions to cinders. To the South lies his hated enemies in Mexico…he is, while not trapped, in a situation that needs all his skills to survive.

For if he cannot raise the Stars and Stripes over California, perhaps he can raise another flag, A Bear's Flag.

Armijo Expedition

General Santa Anna sought to reconquer California. To claim it as the great golden country and the jewel of his empire.
But with matters to the south taking much of his attention, he leaves the matter to General Armijo, Alta California's former governor. Bereft of much of the advantages he had expected to employ, but eager to carve his name into history, he set off from Monterey with vigor and determination to conquer all of the Golden State; Then he met the reality of the situation, he could not hope to storm Los Angeles and take it by force, his men are constantly underfunded and dream of their leave in the great cities to the north and south and the wonders they bring.

But General Armijo is a practical man, he takes what land he can hold and works to make his gains a success, his men can patrol, guard, and pan for gold, and he can keep the worst of the ruffians away, though it is no grand conquest of glory, it is a success, for what it is worth.

And success keeps the general and his expedition content.

Bullion Mining Cooperation

Barnibus B. Bullion was a man who knew how to find gold, he knew his compatriots needed gold, wealth, and more, if not for his sake, then for the vast madness of building Discovery Bay and all its assorted science, development, and infrastructure. It is a messy business, from cave-ins to raids and more, backed by Cole and Chandler, Bullion would rebuild his mining empire, and hopefully give a sense of success and finality to a rather exciting life.
After all, how many men can claim to have done the same gold rush twice?

The North Coast

If a man wishes to be free, he must put themself between a rock and a hard place. The North Coast is the last stop for those looking to get away from the chaos and madness of the Upheaval and their Kings. Far enough to be free yet close to the trade of the sea and its bounty; It is a land
where people wish to live and be ruled by no one but themselves.

The California Line

If San Fransico is Lathem Cole's Rome, then the Califonia Line is his province stretching from the City to parts of the goldfield and to the coast. Fueled by Bullion gold, industry, and a plethora of Chinese labor, fleeing the chaos of the old world for a hopefully kinder one. That was not the case; between newborn triads searching for power, the hammer of an army needing them for building a rail line across the west, and the struggles of the day-to-day. The line is no place for those who are not used to hardship, and perhaps there are those willing to fight for the hope and justice the people long desire.

AN: I'd like to thank @DaviProGamer27 for hammering out the Map into its final form and doing a great job in helping the factions make some degree of sense.

The Map was his idea and I ran with it, because well, I wanted to try it and he'd help me with it all.

Every step he'd help it all make sense.

Thanks man, you made this a fun experience, I hope the rest of you like it, because I did.

La and Lemuria continue to suck.

Shan Yu falls on his face yet again. No surprise there.

Mowgli continues to be unable to catch a break. Should we try moving into India? I feel bad, and we treat animals well.

Our allies are generally doing pretty great.

And it looks like Hanz is about to be ganked and replaced just like the last boss. XD

Too bad Drago is doing well. That faction is essentially our Nemesis.

I'm concerned by the Hunting Club rolling well on the cusp of the powder keg...

Shan Yu and the Mirror Kingdoms just got Rekt! Queen La and Lemuria aren't rekt, but they are staring into that abyss. Hades vs. the rebels seems to be going in the rebels favor, Agrabah is flourishing, Hiccup and Dagur are doing outstanding, though Drago is doing better.

…huh.
Robin was rather ashamed of himself later for only realizing this now. Especially considering he was a father himself. But, during the celebration of the UK's victory over the Horned King and the Liberation of London, as he looked at Ms. Price and thanked his lucky stars that she, Professor Browne, and the Rawlins children had showed up that day at the Battle of Birmingham, he realized that he had scarcely seen the children at all since that day. Sure, they had helped in the preparation of the massive circle that warded off the attack of the Horned King, but otherwise? Nothing.

So, feeling slightly awkward, he approached the witch. "Ah, Lord Robin, how may I help you?" she asked brightly as he sat down next to her.

"Ms. Price, I've… recently noticed something," he started. "I noticed the Rawlins helping you set up the circle earlier and I've realized I hardly ever see them around. Pardon any overstep of mine, but how are you keeping up with both your duties towards the Liverpool Academy and to them as well?"

Ms. Price simply nodded understandingly. "It's all right, milord. As a father yourself, I understand the concern," she assured. "Truth is, with my increase in duties due to the Mythological English War and the Liverpool Academy, I found myself not spending enough time with the children as was healthy. They were very understanding of course, especially due to the fact that every person in England understands intimately the wrath of the Horned King, but, as their guardian, their understanding was not enough for me."

Robin nodded seriously, glad his friends was treating the matter with all the gravity it deserved. "What was your solution, then?" he asked.

"Thankfully, I put and advertisement in the paper for a nanny. Paul and Carrie were most helpful in writing it, though Charles was understandably annoyed." They both chuckled. Charles was at what Ms. Price called "the Age of Not-Believing" and thus trying to prove that he was a grown up when he was anything but. "The applicant that arrived soon after was such a perfect fit, I hired her on the spot. And I've heard no complaints from the children. She takes them on several outings that end up becoming great adventures for the children."

Robin cocked an eyebrow and smirked. "Really? Like what?"

["Well, just the other day, they told me that they had gone into a photograph to have tea with Prime Minister Theodore Galdstone! And that the waiters were penguins of all things!" Ms. Price chortled.]

Robin burst out laughing. "Oh, the imagination of the youth! How I miss those days, don't you agree?" he asked.

"Indeed," agreed Ms. Price. "I must admit, I had my doubts Mary Poppins would be able to adapt to the children, especially in times like this, but I am left quite pleasantly surprised."

Robin suddenly grew contemplative. "Say," he asked, "do you think she would object to meeting with me? Marian and I spend as much time with our kits as possible, but between our jobs and the needs of the people, we tend to carry them around in makeshift slings just to get everything done. And those are quickly being outgrown."

Ms. Price smiled. "Robin, my dear, if the past few weeks has taught me anything, it's that one only need ask and help may be given. And I am quite confident Mary Poppins will not refuse your children. They'll be in safe hands with her."
--------------------------------------------------------------
IT'S MARY POPPINS, Y'ALL!
Stats:
Martial: 0 (As someone who is practically perfect in every way, Mary does not need nor want any sort of inclination or tendency towards violence.)
Stewardship: 19 (One does not become a nanny for children without at least basic management skills.)
Diplomacy: 37 (Mary Poppins is practically perfect in every way: personality, looks, behavior, dreams, you name it. This makes her quite the smooth talker as well as likeable by all she meets.)
Intrigue: 14 (Mary is a bit conspicuous and the very notion of sneaking is rather rude to her. However, she is rather adept at leaving without saying goodbye.)
Learning: 15 (Mary has just enough knowledge in the sciences and humanities to homeschool young children.)
Occult: ??? (Mary Poppins. 'Nough said.)
Traits:
"Mary Poppins, Practically Perfect In Every Way": Mary is a rather prim and proper woman. Though very compassionate, she will not entertain excessive tomfoolery or childish boasting, and will most certainly not tolerate naughtiness of any sort. She will also not take any sort of Martial action. That said, she is a rather friendly woman underneath with a great love of children.
Jolly Holiday: Every turn, roll a d6. On a 1 or 2, nothing happens and Mary may be used on a National action. On a 3 or 4, the Rawlins Children (and a companion, decided by another die roll) are taken on an outing that turns into a marvelous adventure. This can either do nothing substantial or provide the adventurers with a bonus or a trait. On a 5 or 6, Mary's outings pay off in a big way.
Ally-Bert: Apparently, Mary's close to a multi-talented chimney sweep named Bert. Maybe he's worth a look?
Item-Magic Carpetbag: Mary has practically everything she could possibly need in her carpetbag. It has an infinite storage space and can be used to summon any practical item (magical items can also be summoned, but they have to be put in the bag first.)
???: You get the feeling Mary's not telling you something...

I realized that, despite the Rawlins being central to Ms. Price, I had not done anything for them or with them since their introduction at the Battle of Birmingham. As such, this is me fixing that by giving them an excuse to not be center-stage.
The section in brackets was originally going to be a one-shot of Mary Poppins and the Rawlins on an "outing". Unfortunately, life decided to be a fickle mistress and put my co-writer through undeserved shit. As such, while she's on a well-deserved hiatus and getting back on her feet, these brackets will have to suffice.

Haha yes! Let's Gooooo!!!!
Price and Poppins!
No man, nor beast, nor God on Earth can stop Mary Poppins from Saving The Family. It's what she does.
She was probably busy up till now seeing to the satisfaction of her previous employers, the Banks family. Mr. Banks could end up a Stewardship Ancillary!

I wouldn't be surprised if she walked out in front of an Invasion, clapped her hands, and put the entire Horned King's army into the corner for a time out....on the other side of England.

Does Bert come with his army of sweepers?

Price's biggest magic spell is a song. Think about that with Poppins! 😆
