Question on that: since the tech doesn't really "advance" until the End of year, is it based on *current* average or the average at the end of the year that it can't bypass?

Because, if it's the End of the Year date, if you find another EP to throw on Medicine or something, it'll bring your civ average to exactly 1930 which would be a lot nicer an ending point for your two miltechs than like 1929.889 (which I'd just called 1929.5).

Nah, I checked and even if I boost everything I can't get my average above 1930. So I might just cut the boosts entirely depending. But we'll see.

Uh...
1930.5
1931.5
1928.5
1928.5
1932.5
1930
1928.5
1931.5
1928.5
average: 1930.0000000

This is what your boosts bring you to if you add +1 more on one of them. Either that or I screwed up at typing.

That is why I was asking about it. Didn't realize that. Figured since it all applies at end of turn, it'd be based on end of turn but...

Yeah, I think I missed one of the numbers and then used the first miltech since that was the eighth. Derp.
If you start the research at the beginning of the year, it makes sense you wouldn't be able to use the tech you'd finished at the end to help you out :V

On the other hand, if you start the research at the beginning of the year, working on moving up from 1925 to 1925.5, then 1926 then 1927... you'd think as you make progress everywhere else... It'd improve your potential advancement.

I'm not sure why the Hyderabadi are so eager to share the military tsch that represents their only real advantage on the subvontinent with the same vastly larger power they just fought a war with a year ago.

I personally refuse to take the Hyderabadi seriously until they name themselves that doesn't sound like a Generic Evil Empire from a Generic Bob Howard Pastiche.

I don't care if that's an actual historical and cultural thing, these are my guns and I'm sticking to them.

"An attitude the Empire expects from Oceanian practical jokers."

Are the Hydrabaddies the Mughal nobles that seceded or the weird tiger guy that's marrying his secondhand sex slave?

I'm bound to protect them, and I gave a pretty generous deal to them too.

It's a mutually beneficial arrangement, much like the Kalmar Union.

Mughal Nobles.

Unfortunately Maria is too busy being a supervillain right now to go gallivanting around with random people half way across the world.
Yes, but supervillains need ominous lairs in exotic locations!
I guess I can always conspire to have my new Hero end up in India for... some hand-waved reason, or for one of your heroes to end up in Ass-end-of-Nowhere, America, but, well. He ain't no pleasant person.
*sad sigh*

Why exactly would the Hyderabadi trust you with something as important as their military safety when you have not only broken treaties in the past but literally did so a year ago with them?

And the Kalmar Union is a personal union between two nations that didn't just fight a war, no such trust exists here

OK, now I'm *really* confused. What's Naglfar's history like? Why did they come into existence? Who did that? Et cetera.

okay so the naglfarian exile thing 'chase the mutants into the sea' was somewhere around 25-30 years ago, and primarily from norway (hence why they were so insistent on having it be red and not blue on the map). frederick iii dies around the end of this, and skuld makes her claim to the throne of denmark 20-25 years ago

i think

I'm going to hit pause on this topic for a sec:

@ChineseDrone
Oceania has a Patent Office? Oceania has intellectual property lawyers?

Truly, my bold stand against you is the cause of righteousness, even accounting for kidnapped two year olds and djinn pieces in pickle jars.

I certainly didn't break a treaty. Circumstances beyond my control caused conditions that would be replicated by me breaking a treaty with Iran, yes. I broke no treaties with the Hyderabadi other than declaring a ceasefire over.
