Huh. This is a full on Survive Invasion Scenario and not just the Lord of Dust. Bravo Konami. I wasn't expecting this.

So far, I like Cavalier's deployments best, but this is definitly not the kind of fight we're built for. Ah well, this is our problem, so we got to deal with it.

We should sent Quiet to the city. That type of combat favors her. It'll be more open and she's hyper mobile.
True, but Quiet partners up really well with Ahab, and could help alot in reaching the Main Wormhole.

The problem here, is that Quiet is Strong Vs Soft Targets, and these zombies are all mechanized in various stages. I've never even touched survive, so I don't know how robotic and durable it's zombies get, but I'm not sure how usefull she would be against leaderless metallic chaff, or fucking RAYS.

All right so the first company, Boss All of our tanks , Salh and The Howitsers get deployed to the first mission. We need to throw our biggest hailmaker punch here. And put our best assets on this.

The Rest of our boots outside of our support divisions, air assets, Quite , DD, Occelot and whatever else gets put on the city defense.

We leave our support crew, Miller and the kids:)cry: hate we have to arm them for war but zombies don't discriminate) on defense duty and pray no one takes advantage of this moment of distraction to assault mother base. Or Eli gets the " smart" idea to start shit with a zombie apocalypse going on.

The court side will have to fend for its self. And TBH they should be able to easily. All they have to do is walk away from the horde and they will be fine. We can't protect everyone so we need to focus our efforts on three fronts.

Could we use them to transport empty containers and then fill them with people or even just transport buses full of civilians ?
The average transport bus seats 20-30 people, and locking people in an airtight container... sheesh. Not a good idea. Like theoretically you might be able to stuff 50 people into a container but that requires them to be crammed in like sardines and lying on top of each other (which will kill them so yay). You might as well just stuff those 55-ish people right in the cargo bay, where they're supposed to be carried in anyway?

Oh dear God... Just realized. What if we hadn't dealt with the Man of Fire and he had decided now was another good time to have a go at Snake?
*Shrug* Honestly, what would be fucking awesome, is if Mother Base got hit hard, our defenders are about to be overrun, and Volgin Stands Up. The Man on Fire appears behind the enemy forces, fucking fries them, just stares at the DD personal he just saved, and then walks off to kill more zombies.

That would be so fucking cool.

We can give her Serval AMR-7

Oh, Quiet will certainly be good against most zombie with her mobility and power. They practically have large shiny target replacing their head. RAY and other mechanised enemies on the other hand...

We should left Eli and D-Dog at base, Liquid is better at such fortified small place and D-Dog shouldn't try biting any of this nanite filled zombie but could help detect any.

So what do you guys think about my out line of a plan?

I feel like I should point out the specializations are researched gear/techniques that any unit can equip. Like everyone can do (Standard) or swap it for whatever specialization is available to them.
*No need to micromanage to that level, I'll take care of that*

The court side will have to fend for its self. And TBH they should be able to easily.

Just saying that most can stumble jog, some can run, and the zombie mechs can stride pretty damn fast :3

Horizon Zero Dawn type bots with a bit of MGS4 and Revengeance flair are close to what I'm envisioning

===

And for everyone wondering about Big Boss speech.

Of course it's going to happen. I'm just waiting for maximum Kojima

I kind of want him to give Sahelanthropus another combat round if it's defeated. He can power it up like he did with the Shagohod.

So, we're going to deploy sahahlanthropus-who the hell came up with this name? How am I supposed to remember how to spell this?

... ahem. In that case, are we supposed to get our ai pod to use it or something?

As the guy who pushed for the current load out of the diamond dogs the hardest I feel kind of responsible that we are not prepared for this shit . I was not expecting to have to deal with A zombie apocalypse but if things go wrong I will take responsibility for it . this is my bad

The zombies I'm not worried about those can be cleared somewhat easily and someone armed with a sharp metal rod and a chain link fence can clear swarms of them.

The everything else however... is literally the worst possible matchup for us. No supply lines to cut no commanders to remove,anti-personal likely will not have enough punch to deal with them.

Asymmetric warfare means jack if your foe doesn't operate by any of the rules of war. Even our hero units are not meant for this kind of fight.

The only good news is Salh but even then they have multiple MG's to our one.

If it makes you feel better, the nuclear disarmament would have been a lot more difficult without meticulous and asymmetrical warfare

yeah I know i said i was going to be too buzzed for analysis but I'm a military aviation nerd i can do this in my sleep

see @Cavalier you wanted effortpost i can fucking effortpost :V

on top of this i would remind everyone what we use the quad engine version of the UTH-66 Blackfoot which is faster then then normal Blackhawks

It doesn't work that way for two reasons: 1) not having to deal with licensing issues we can just use the actual Blackhawks instead of the Blackfoot as the not!Blackhawk, and 2) physics and the way helicopters work mean that unlike fixed wing aircraft, you don't go faster because you have more engines (or more powerful engines). There is such a thing as the never exceed speed, which for helicopters is basically a speed where you're traveling so fast, your rotors are spinning too fast to generate lift, or vibrations are causing bad things to your rotors and your aircraft. This is why the British Apache AH1 doesn't fly faster than the American Apache Longbow, despite having more powerful engines. That said, what the extra engine power lets you do is carry more payload and fly higher.

= = =

Meanwhile on helos, something to note for any potential deployment: we have 3 Little Birds and 3 Apaches. I would have liked to have 4 of each, because then we can more neatly do Nam-era White, Red and Pink Team helicopter tactics, but well... actually we can still do that actually.

Edit: Nvm we have 4 little birds as per word of kona, we cant use the apaches yet because we still training crews, but fuckit i keep the effort post in :V

White Team is a pair of scout choppers (Little Birds for us), the idea being that they will orbit the AO and spot enemy targets/formations. In Nam you had Loaches (Little Bird predecessor) who would usually have one chopper fly down in the dirt to bait VC and NVA into firing on it, while the 2nd chopper would note the locations of enemy fire and talk Red Team gunships or fast air onto the enemies.

Red Team is a pair of gunships (Apache or armed Blackhawk for us); their job is to go and kill whatever White Team birds find.

Pink Team is a hunter-killer pair: you have one scout and one gunship working together (White + Red = Pink); the idea is that while the scout circles low playing bait and looking for targets, the gunship is already on station and ready to cover the scout.

So this means we can have 1 White Team, 1 Red Team, and 1 Pink Team, or we can mix the six helos and get 6 Pink Teams. And basically with 3 little birds and 3 Apaches, we can either outfit the little birds like light gunships (turning our helo squadron into not!160th SOAR, we're kinda mostly that way already), or we can use the little birds and Apaches in three seperate Pink Teams. There's an argument to be made that given that most of our helos are probably going to be tied up with evacuation, we need every possible combat asset we can get, and some light gunship is better than no gunship - Little Birds can still fire 70mm rockets, afterall.

Or we could stick Crashing Dragon in a Little Bird and put an MG gunner in the rear right seat and a grenader in the rear left seat for a given value of ad-hoc gunship. Assuming Crashing Dragon's flying doesn't traumatise the passengers into being unable to fight. It'd make a kekking omake tho.

Otoh this would also be a pain to manage and deploy so i totally get that for simplicity of use it's more likely the little bird and apache flights are deployed as they are, no mixing about.

I don't wait for Big Boss speech.
I wait for The Boss AI speech, when she and Sah merges with Lord of Dust, teaches it... Death and loyality and sacrifice and sets Sah's nuke off.

Because this? This is even better way for a ghost in the machine to leave this world.

Guys, OP just liked my post about me probably writing up the Omake.

Guys, I am in awe and just a little fear.
