Mostly good, one FUCKING TERRIBLE idea.
Doesn't matter if he's good at this, he is not psychologically equipped for it. His newfound willingness to actually cooperate with us and be a reasonable person will not hold up under that kind of stress. I don't know if he'd actually turn on us, or if he'd break down because he wants to but can see that THIS IS NOT THE TIME, but either one would be exceedingly bad.Have Eli in command of the artillery unit. The little punk was able to turn a jungle island into a death trap with just child soldiers in canon. Having him decide where the most damage will be done by rocket artillery sounds like the best use of his talents.
BTW, has anyone checked out Huey's updated stats? Because...
We might not yet be out of the danger zone regarding Huey. Not an immediate concern, but in the future we will need to keep an eye on him.
In Metal Gear Survive fire works just fine against them so why not ?
Anyway I kinda want a touching scene with a Kinda-Father and son moment where John leaves him in charge of protecting their home and his men, Eli snarks back and as the diamond dogs fly towards their destiny Eli discovers he's... afraid... his father may not come home...Doesn't matter if he's good at this, he is not psychologically equipped for it. His newfound willingness to actually cooperate with us and be a reasonable person will not hold up under that kind of stress. I don't think this is the kind of warfare they usually train people for...I don't know if anyone mentioned this, but can we have our trainer guys hook up with the native defenders in the city so that the Untrained ones are at least somewhat trained?
At the very least, they can keep local forces organized and in contact while calling in support.I don't think this is the kind of warfare they usually train people for...
@Cjdavis103 I don't think it's fair to say we're not properly equipped for this because while this isn't our element I don't think any load out would have a good match up. Standard infantry don't have the firepower, armor has a tough time in the slugging match against actual Metal Gears, Conventional arms would probably require us to deploy in full, air may not have the staying power and MG's could be turned against us.
It's going to be tough but I really do think we've actually got a good set up for this. We're one of the best possible load outs for ending this quickly via infiltration so that we can limit the growth potential of our foe and secure those reinforcements.
Agreed. And what... I can't remember who said it, but they said it, we can provide a really solid backbone to supporting forces. Even if we'd gone Enthusiastic, all we've done is sacrifice our uber-elite backbone for weight of numbers, and we'd still be drastically outnumbered. Meticulous is the best pick for this.
I'm not sure what everyone's going on about with us training up the Mujahideen to be better. This is Day One. From the looks of it, we're going more or less day by day. I don't see us training anyone to do anything in a single day, or even a few days. Not when we're also under the pressure of needing those people fighting rather than being trained.
EDIT: What Helldog just said above me is a much more reasonable expectation of what the Combat Advisors will accomplish.
All that research for my OC on advisors in Vietnam paid off.EDIT: What Helldog just said above me is a much more reasonable expectation of what the Combat Advisors will accomplish.
Broken.I appreciate your obvious enthusiasm and desire to contribute, but... man, you need to break up your posts. Those are solid chunks of word that can get very off-putting. You might get listened to more if you put in some paragraph breaks.
Maybe? Armor should be lower for both due to cost, but by my (limited) understanding, the Nanite Swarm/Thing is from even further in the future of a Metal Gear timeline...meaning it's probably Plasma. On the flip side of things, Metallic Archaea might be our Silver Bullet seeing as CIPHER just completely said 'fuck that, I'm out' and ceased all research and use of related Parasite/Archaea technology following the XOF coup in favor of info-control and the newly inspired Nano-tech (kept some stuff like Gene Therapy and such of course, but no more out-right Super-Powers like Gene's hypnotic voice other then the pre-existing oddities that came to them). Which means...all this future stuff could be super-screwed by a vector deliberately left unexplored by the Patriots, the group that set the ball rolling on pretty much all their Mil-tech.Honestly, these RAY might be the mass produced one with Water cutter and not Desperado's friggin plasma, which is better for Sahel. In other hand, I doubt Sahel will be able to do crazy shit without Mantis help, so I hope Metallic Archaea can deal with Dread Dust.
This is Metal Gear. 'Rationality' may be universal and unique to every individual, but logic certainly isn't.Governments may be dicks but they're not stupid for the most part.
Oh, I don't doubt that they would eventually. It's more a matter of time really. The only things that can be scrambled fast enough are air assets, and the process of doing so involves enough people and complications that we're unlikely to get random soldiers going AWOL. And getting organizational support means the public making up it's mind and then bitching enough it happens (too long by far), or higher ups go ahead and support it...which is unlikely because they don't like Big Boss, don't trust him, and don't trust the other Super-Power to not try and take advantage somehow if they do extend...which means more waiting to gather info for themselves and make treaties/threats with each other to feel safe.Between his reputation and the fact that this is a apocalypse scenario I'm thinking the entire world is going to be on board for this.
Could just look up a map of Kandahar.@konamikode could you describe defense lines in the city ? Becouse i'm currently making plan for them and that could help .
Btw do we have any mortars ?

I wish I'd done enough research on combat advisors to refer to it as 'all that'. It kind of got lost in the shuffle of all the wild googling on precisely how messed up Greece was at around this point.
There are three defensive zones along the road all the way to the entrance of the city.
"Mr. President there seems to be an issue in Afghanistan."
"I am aware of the issue"
"The Soviets are fully prepared to use the appropriate measures to resolve the issue. Is there going to be a problem from NATO?"
"Considering the issue, the NATO is willing to support it."
"Thank you"
The phone hangs up.
*Nuclear launch detected*
AN: Because the Soviets have more nukes then us and more willingness to use them.
I'm considering summonning Cthulhu to help us .
It should be easier to deal with then zombie apocalypse right ??
