Hmm just noticed. Besides Sahel and Walker Gear, we might have problems immediately sending armours toward the Wormhole. The terrains pretty unfriendly mountainous I think for vehicles, they better to come as reinforcement instead.

I don't know if anyone mentioned this, but can we have our trainer guys hook up with the native defenders in the city so that the Untrained ones are at least somewhat trained?

So what do you guys think about my out line of a plan?
Mostly good, one FUCKING TERRIBLE idea.

Have Eli in command of the artillery unit. The little punk was able to turn a jungle island into a death trap with just child soldiers in canon. Having him decide where the most damage will be done by rocket artillery sounds like the best use of his talents.
Doesn't matter if he's good at this, he is not psychologically equipped for it. His newfound willingness to actually cooperate with us and be a reasonable person will not hold up under that kind of stress. I don't know if he'd actually turn on us, or if he'd break down because he wants to but can see that THIS IS NOT THE TIME, but either one would be exceedingly bad.

@Cjdavis103 I don't think it's fair to say we're not properly equipped for this because while this isn't our element I don't think any load out would have a good match up. Standard infantry don't have the firepower, armor has a tough time in the slugging match against actual Metal Gears, Conventional arms would probably require us to deploy in full, air may not have the staying power and MG's could be turned against us.

It's going to be tough but I really do think we've actually got a good set up for this. We're one of the best possible load outs for ending this quickly via infiltration so that we can limit the growth potential of our foe and secure those reinforcements.

BTW, has anyone checked out Huey's updated stats? Because...

We might not yet be out of the danger zone regarding Huey. Not an immediate concern, but in the future we will need to keep an eye on him.

It's on the list of concerns but currently it ranks lower then the zombie apocalypse. We'll get back to it.

In Metal Gear Survive fire works just fine against them so why not ?

Because these zombies are different apparently. These ones can sometimes run while most survive style zombies can only shamble.Until further notice I'm going to be considering them the bad running zombie type and ignoring survive altogether.

Which is good because I don't wanna pay attention to it.

Also in a practical standpoint fire is pronto spreading and that will make our life a lot harder if it does.

Also The bigger things( not sure what to call them but let's go with Hulks for now) are going to laugh at fire.

Those Hulks are what killed any confidence I had going in as things like that are damn hard to deal with even in low numbers

Anyway I kinda want a touching scene with a Kinda-Father and son moment where John leaves him in charge of protecting their home and his men, Eli snarks back and as the diamond dogs fly towards their destiny Eli discovers he's... afraid... his father may not come home...

Agreed. And what... I can't remember who said it, but they said it, we can provide a really solid backbone to supporting forces. Even if we'd gone Enthusiastic, all we've done is sacrifice our uber-elite backbone for weight of numbers, and we'd still be drastically outnumbered. Meticulous is the best pick for this.

I'm not sure what everyone's going on about with us training up the Mujahideen to be better. This is Day One. From the looks of it, we're going more or less day by day. I don't see us training anyone to do anything in a single day, or even a few days. Not when we're also under the pressure of needing those people fighting rather than being trained.

EDIT: What Helldog just said above me is a much more reasonable expectation of what the Combat Advisors will accomplish.

A few hours is enough to try and find anyone else in the city who knows how to shoot a gun and help set up a firing ling while organizing the rest of the defenders.

....Mother fucker. I just realized, we're definitely going to be taking somekind of casualties from this, and that's just going to make me want to take the Medical Center Upgrade come turn 4. Damn it.

But hey atleast our Ballistic Vests will carry their weight in this world.

@konamikode could you describe defense lines in the city ? Becouse i'm currently making plan for them and that could help .

Btw do we have any mortars ?

I appreciate your obvious enthusiasm and desire to contribute, but... man, you need to break up your posts. Those are solid chunks of word that can get very off-putting. You might get listened to more if you put in some paragraph breaks.
Broken.
Honestly, these RAY might be the mass produced one with Water cutter and not Desperado's friggin plasma, which is better for Sahel. In other hand, I doubt Sahel will be able to do crazy shit without Mantis help, so I hope Metallic Archaea can deal with Dread Dust.
Maybe? Armor should be lower for both due to cost, but by my (limited) understanding, the Nanite Swarm/Thing is from even further in the future of a Metal Gear timeline...meaning it's probably Plasma. On the flip side of things, Metallic Archaea might be our Silver Bullet seeing as CIPHER just completely said 'fuck that, I'm out' and ceased all research and use of related Parasite/Archaea technology following the XOF coup in favor of info-control and the newly inspired Nano-tech (kept some stuff like Gene Therapy and such of course, but no more out-right Super-Powers like Gene's hypnotic voice other then the pre-existing oddities that came to them). Which means...all this future stuff could be super-screwed by a vector deliberately left unexplored by the Patriots, the group that set the ball rolling on pretty much all their Mil-tech.

At the same time though...I'm kinda worried. Part of the swarm control is crystalline after all and nanites aren't crystals...but metals are, and there is literally one and only one non-carbon based life-form around. I don't think it's a coincidence, and even if it somehow is, it's still a risk of catalyzing some mutation or other in the Archaea... because you know we've got literally no info on how they react and mutate due to being completely different from all other carbon life, only that they're similar to Archaea bacteria, and thus might change rapidly and randomly like all bacteria species do.

Governments may be dicks but they're not stupid for the most part.
This is Metal Gear. 'Rationality' may be universal and unique to every individual, but logic certainly isn't.
Between his reputation and the fact that this is a apocalypse scenario I'm thinking the entire world is going to be on board for this.
Oh, I don't doubt that they would eventually. It's more a matter of time really. The only things that can be scrambled fast enough are air assets, and the process of doing so involves enough people and complications that we're unlikely to get random soldiers going AWOL. And getting organizational support means the public making up it's mind and then bitching enough it happens (too long by far), or higher ups go ahead and support it...which is unlikely because they don't like Big Boss, don't trust him, and don't trust the other Super-Power to not try and take advantage somehow if they do extend...which means more waiting to gather info for themselves and make treaties/threats with each other to feel safe.

The only way to really bypass that is jumping ahead and asking for help, as well as providing sufficiently clear and scary evidence that no one can deny or feel the need to delay for confirmation. Hence why it's a gamble.

And later, after the MFING APOCALYPSE is canceled and the Diamond Dogs have vanished a new comic book series comes out...

So hey, I know Armageddon is happening and we're probably all going to die, but before that I think there's some things that really need to be pointed out that have changed on character sheets.

Character Relationships: (This character's opinion)
  • Big Boss: My Friend, My Abel 10/10
  • Miller: A Friend I Crippled 4/10
  • Ocelot: Theatrical Torturer 2/10
  • Quiet: Fascinating Specimen 4/10
  • Code Talker: Fellow Researcher 6/10
  • Pacifica Ocean: Another Sin 4/10
  • Eli: A Reminder of Inescapable Failure 1/10
  • Hana: It... is My Fault 1/10

I think you can see the potential problem here.

Separation of Guilt (Dr. Emmerich / Mr. Huey): ???
  • Huey has come to face his guilt for all of his many mistakes and sins.
  • But does all of him feel guilty?

Don't be alarmed, it's just Huey potentially developing a full-on split personality from what's been implied here. This is fine. Everything is fine. (Oh god, I think he's now even more of a potential problem than before if that's the case...)

Hatred is My Being: Eli's seething hatred of... everything colors every action he takes, every decision he makes, and every thought he has.
  • It is extremely difficult to raise Eli's friendship ratings with anyone.
  • The stats shown here may or may not be accurate.
  • He follows.

That can't be good. No wait, actually given that we're literally facing Armageddon that could be very very good considering how fucked the situation is.

Also in case of last resort :

"Mr. President there seems to be an issue in Afghanistan."
"I am aware of the issue"
"The Soviets are fully prepared to use the appropriate measures to resolve the issue. Is there going to be a problem from NATO?"
"Considering the issue, NATO is willing to support it."
"Thank you"
The phone hangs up.

AN: Because the Soviets have more nukes then us and more willingness to use them.

All that research for my OC on advisors in Vietnam paid off. :V
I wish I'd done enough research on combat advisors to refer to it as 'all that'. It kind of got lost in the shuffle of all the wild googling on precisely how messed up Greece was at around this point.

Just highlighting this so people can see it.
There are three defensive zones along the road all the way to the entrance of the city.

There aren't defense lines in the city, unless the entrance is called as technically in. If they hit the city, it's pretty much already game over for anyone still inside.

I'm considering summonning Cthulhu to help us .

It should be easier to deal with then zombie apocalypse right ??

Alright, time to whip up a goddamn amazing plan.

[ ] Ghor Province: Wormhole Assault
-[ ] Heroes Deployed *Must Select Big Boss*
--[ ] Eli.
-[ ] Units Deployed
--[ ] None.
-[ ] General Strategy
--[ ] This will be a one-man sneaking mission. All gear will be OSP. Infiltrate enemy territory and shut down the Wormhole.

So you want to surpass Big Boss, Eli? Well here's your shot! A one-man sneaking mission to save the whole goddamn world! And you don't even get to bring any weapons with you! That's real Big Boss tier shit right there!

[ ] Battle For Kandahar: Hold the Road
-[ ] Heroes Deployed
--[ ] Mammal Pod.
-[ ] Units Deployed
--[ ] Sahelanthropus.
-[ ] General Strategy
--[ ] Throw the Big Fucking Robot at the enemy. Repeat until problem is solved.

I mean, what are the zombies gonna do about it?

[ ] Mass Evacuation: Afghanistan
-[ ] Heroes Deployed
--[ ] Code Talker.
-[ ] Units Deployed
--[ ] None.
-[ ] General Strategy
--[ ] Figure it out, old man.

… Eh. I'm sure he's got this.

[ ] Mother Base Defense
-[ ] Heroes Deployed
--[ ] Literally everyone else.
-[ ] Units Deployed
--[ ] Literally everyone else.
-[ ] General Strategy
--[ ] Laugh at whatever poor, unfortunate dumbass attacks Mother Base. Then obliterate them.

[ ] Arm the Child Soldiers
-[ ] Except Eli. He's on his own.

Mother Base will be defended. We've learned from Ground Zeroes.

As I'm sure you can all see, this plan is absolutely flawless.:V

No one's first response is going to be let's throw nukes at it. People are still trying to figure out what the fuck is going on.

Considering we only need a steam boat to kill him sure.
