Magical Girl Quest - The Fire That Burns

You nod in response, not saying anything, but you feel your magic waiting, carefully simmering under the layers of the world. Karen doesn't react to your non-verbal response, but you see Morgan stiffen slightly and ball one of her hands into a fist in her lap.
I like to think that ever since we merged (for a lack of better word) our magic with ZA WARUDO, Morgan has been constantly subjected to the full might of our magical power.

Edit: It's why she's been able to tell when we're looking at her ever since we hid our magic.

"There is this presence in the air..."
But I doubt that anyone can track your magic now. I can only feel it so clearly because my magic is aligned with nature to hide it.
My guess is that Morgan synch her magic with the World. Basically, she ride along the waves created by the interactions of uh... everything with everything else (aka the World). So everytime we flare our magic, she is struck by the the magical equivalent of a tsunami.

for the first time, it's calm. Not by any effort from you, or you beating it into submission, it just sits there waiting. When you take a breath, you feel it surge, a silent shifting of something. You let out a breath and you feel it calm, the world moving with you.

Huh... "under the layers of the world".

Poor Morgan... we should apologise to her once we find out what we do to her.

I like Narons plan but would also like

[x] Ask Questions: "how many and what kind of people would you be asking me to kill?"

To show how jaded Cerys is and how Karen is just another gang boss to her.

I think that's sorta already covered though? With the 'examples of things or people we might have to face' question?

Um... I doubt Cerys is that jaded; she probably never killed anyone before her magic awakened, although she does not know her father is still alive.
The worst she did was most likely disposing of corpses. Actually, make that a singular; we do not know whether this happened more than once.
@Rukia, would my assessment be correct?

Mmmmm

"How often do you think you'll need a nuclear option?"
Karen: "Hey, removing trash from existence is a perfectly valid use of your power!" :p
"What if I want to leave at a latter date?"

AN OFFER QUESTIONED
You let out a long breath, closing your eyes for a second before looking back to Karen. "What would you say if I said no?"

Morgan jerks slightly, but Karen just takes another sip of her Tea. "I would, of course, let you go. There is nothing for me to gain here by making an enemy of you. If you do decide to leave, just remember that my offer remains open."

Mmmm. "What are you offering for my state of living? How far does whatever I need go?"

Karen smiles a little sharply. "A place of your own, a high salary, many doors will be opened for you. I am not above giving you special privileges if appropriate." She drinks. "For whatever you need. It is exactly that. I will not provide you with everything you want. I will provide you with everything you need. You will have to reach out and take your opportunities yourself, I will only open the door for you." Another sip. "If there is sufficient reason, I would provide you with anything necessary to achieve your goals."

Anything... She certainly does not lack ambition. "What sort of things would you use me as the 'Nuclear Option' to?"

"Demonic invasions, very powerful magical creatures, mages fallen to the dark." She pauses for a moment, looking at you. "Any higher beings that deign to take notice of us." Your carefully keep your face blank at that.

Phwhaaaa. "Human targets?"

She looks at you seriously, the first time you've actually seen the look on her face. "Anything Necessary."

You sit back in your seat slightly, taking in her answer. "You worked with the last one?"

She nods slightly. "I did, for a time. She left for... lighter pastures."

Remember that 1: Una is right there and Cerys is probably going to want to avoid saying that when beside her
2. Judging by how well she took the looters death, she has little to no experience with killing people.
3. The offer already mentions eradicating opponents from existence and turning locations to ashes, I am pretty sure that the fact that Cerys would end up having to kill people is heavily implied anyway and this kind of strikes me as posturing to act tough rather than actually being jaded imo

Might want to ask more about the other girl, and why she left. Might also want to ask about benefits extended to littlest sister.

Oh shit. What if the Light is using MGs to fuel the Barrier? That would explain why they we're planning to capture us. It would also explain why Rukia said we might have ruined their plan.

[X] Questions...
-[X] Lighter pastures? Did she go willingly?
--[X] Do you know what happened to her after she left?
---[X] Would you go so far as to protect us from the Light?

Probably more to add on, but that's a pretty hefty potential topic to begin with...

Okay... she is still vague about it.
Let me see...
(Also, stealing votes again)

Okay, I have nothing else. Someone else take over... or maybe those are all we still need?
I am hesitant to ask her to just spell things out; that would mean admitting we are not sure what she says.

Alright, definitely not leaving the question about the light out this time.
If we guessed wrong about that notion, we are right back at where we were before.

Might want to ask more about the other girl, and why she left.
I get the feeling she will not tell us much more on that end.

I want Una to go to school!
That is something we want, not something we need.
If we agree, we can go take care of this easily.

We should only admit to it after she hire us.

Edit: Or maybe not? We could also just admit that we're not ready instead of specifying how so.

But then she could say we gave the wrong impression on purpose.
Besides, I doubt it will change much... but she will know she has to adjust her plans beforehand that way.

Edit: Besides, if we agreed and then told her that, she could just throw us at the powerful targets anyway. If she plans that, I would like to know beforehand.

Not really. I hope these questions address the Light and the fact that they're following us for some reason. Otherwise there isn't anything in particular that comes to mind.

AN OFFER QUESTIONED, PART 2
You pursed your lips, thinking about what you knew of the Light. "She went willingly?"

Karen nods. "She did."

"What happened to her after?"

Karen's face sours a little at the question. "I know little, not dead, but she is gone forever now." She sighs. "It's a shame, she was such a nice girl."

You cast a glance to your sister out of the corner of your eye, she was sitting bolt straight and her eyes were glued on Karen. She still held you tightly. I'm sorry for getting you involved with my mess. "My sister has the same benefits?"

Morgan looks like you struck her physically with that statement. "Yes. She will always be safe here, whether you choose to stay or go." Karen smiles a little tightly. "We're not heartless."

You dip your head slightly, but don't say anything either way. "As I am right now, I am almost as vulnerable as a normal human. How often would I be expected to take to the field?"

Karen lets out a little huff. "Very few Magical Girls start out tough enough to ignore normal weaponry, you will grow. I'm not unreasonable, you won't be sent into a suicidal situation unless it is an end of the world scenario." She takes a sip of her tea, it must be getting cold by now, but she makes no indication of it. "How often depends on need. Right now, there are only a few serious threats that need attention." Her lips press into a thin line. "I have good reason to believe that will change soon enough."

Mmm. You should probably give her an answer soon. Though... you could ask her for more time, but it probably wouldn't change your answer.
