Magical Girl Quest - The Fire That Burns

[X] Try and find the news channel

Time to see the consequences of her actions.
Now that I took a day's break, I'm hoping Karen would be smart and adult enough to try make the death and damage as a result of something else, that Cerys involvement is kept a secret and Karen if off screen made a speech to her people about the incident as error of judgement is on her and Cerys since she knows Cerys long enough and in the end the world need magical girls. Make an sense of forgiveness by keeping it quiet and making Cerys realise her actions instead of the typical painting of her as enemy of the state and clocktower.
Hopefully Morgan convince Karen that it's Gaia fault for twisting Cerys mind so soon after the bombshell.

I can accept Morgan staying since we can see her again but I am dismay at how bloody the exit is with the number of enforcers and civilian deaths, sigh should use intimidation and non-lethal wounds.
Sure first four coming to intercept but the rest after that, no concept of mercy or restraint when she outclass them, that's just overkill even the collateral damage to civilian.

What concerns me is that even if the demon invasion hits both the country and Clocktower will remember what we did even if Humanity unites, I'm hoping there's actions where Cerys can show remorse for this, perhaps defending Great Britain from any and all demonic attacks with everything she got even at risk of other frontlines?
I'm hoping the enforcer deaths are not the people we know like our trainer or those people playing cards in the barracks when she last visited.

Urgh I really wonder what those enforcers thinking if they can take on a Magical Girl of Cerys level sigh even if I also blame Cerys emotional rampage. Both Karen and Cerys to be blame.
I keep wondering the what-if Karen was willing to let her go if we say it's Gaia wills it.
Got to stop think about it.

As if betraying the walking WMD was ever going to end in anything but blood, fire, and tears.
True, I think someone going to get fired for sending those man in harm's way because I really don't see Karen ordering it considering her people's skills, she would stop Cerys herself, words at first but could let them go since any actions would trash the base and reducing manpower even more. You know giving space and all.

We literally just got shown evidence that Karen is a ruthless, cold-blooded bitch, and your interpretation of things is "Oh, I don't think she'd do that"?

Have we been reading the same updates?

I think Jrin was more along the lines of "There's no way she'd actually go against the damn planet would she?"

And to be fair that seems pretty stupid, I hope we don't slowly see her spiral out of control now that she's starting to lose control. I mean she just lost four magical girls, had her base torn open, dead enforcers, a public disaster, and the counter force is about to knock on her front door. That is a lot to have on one's plate. I want Karen to be smart about this and not be desperate.

Edit: AND LEAVE THE VAULT ALONE PLEASE! We didn't A/O everything after all.

Karen's problem was that she was neither methodically ruthless enough about maintaining control, nor honest and genuine enough in her offer of alliance. In the latter case, she would never have to deal with a betrayed Cerys because she would not have lied to and betrayed her in the first place, while in the former case one of the first things she should have done would have been to assign Una (and later Daiyu) permanent "guard" details both to outwardly appear to be keeping her word and also give her instant hostages on demand should Cerys ever act out.

Karen, for whatever reason, didn't take the appropriate precautions against the entirely predictable results of her betrayal and manipulation of Cerys. This means that either she could not, for some reason we do not know (and I can't think of any good ones), or simply didn't think to do so (which is the opposite of smart). Given that she apparently had anti-Magical Girl strike teams on standby, she clearly didn't have any personnel issues that would have prevented her from doing so, for example.

With how wishy-washy Karen's actual competence has been shown to be, regardless of what we've been told regarding it, I would not at all be surprised if she does something pretty dumb in the aftermath.

I think Karen trust Cerys to an extent since she may be a kid but she's mature enough to raise Una by herself.
The fact she adapted to the bloody missions with all the horrors and preparing for the invasion would have vindicated her confidence.

We do have genuine warm bonding moments with her
You know if this is a Karen Negaverse quest, the players voted thinking Cerys could handle the truth but they rolled poorly for her reaction, that would be an epic meltdown, I mean can you imagine the time they invested trying to increase Cerys affection level but dice being all tsundere.
Thinking back not mentioning the full details of the false vow is quite SV too, guess we are playing with an SV Karen.

Except that, you know, those were all lies. From her end, at least.

Like, if you go back and look through Cerys's missions, there's a disturbing pattern of escalation, from dealing with unambiguously malevolent and quasi-sapient threats, to dealing with more intelligent magical creatures, to dealing with clearly evil and malicious humans, to wiping out a bunch of random strangers who's only crime was being called "bad guys" by Cerys's boss.

Karen's not bad at the whole manipulation thing, but damned if she isn't utter shit at handling the fallout when she fucks it up.

The update for that one would basically just be a scene of Karen laying things out, Cerys going "okay", and then a scene cut to ten minutes later, where your mages are dead, your clocktower is blown up, and everything left is on fire.

When you put it like that, it sounds really frustrating on Karen's end. Like people have already said, that's just what happens when your methodology dealing with the imouto-morality WMD is so wishy-washy.

Welcome to the front of the thread.

And since it has been brought to my attention, I really should get around to fixing some of the erroneous shit in my quest.

Levels now cost 10xp per rather than 15, shop items have increased in price since they were too low and I'm going to be giving Juggernaut Wave an overhaul.
Yes, that means that a low level story won't have a spell that increases in damage by over 100,000 per level.
Since the damage has dropped the cool-down has also been lowered accordingly.
Target Army has been removed and XP refunded with an additional 50% for the hassle.

I really don't know what I was thinking with that tbh, this has been a fix long in waiting.
(Note: Character Page might change back and forth for the rest of the day while I tweak things.)

Nah, they rolled 97 and rejoiced... then all maluses piled up and dragged it down to seventeen and ?? passing number being 80. "THAT high? Uhhuh..." (C) NegaPlayers. "At least you were nice enough with her previously and dodged minus two. THAT would've been sight to see!" (C) NegaGM.

What about all the retcons to scenes that were dependent on how powerful it was?

We havent really had the chance to even use the Target:Army part of it so its not really that big of an impact. Makes the future demon invasion more risky when we cant just flatten everything from the sky.

even target:Army spells do not hit everywhere. would need omnipresent for that (which is likely to kill our allies).

it will allow Rukia to craft battles where a single JW is not the solution though :)
